Getting to know you part 2
Four is enough to answer for me, at least for right now.....LOL!•Who was your favorite celebrity as a child?
Believe it or not, but my favorite celebrity when I was a child was Pierce Brosnan. Does anyone remember that show Remington Steele?
•What type of pets do you have?
3 dogs, 1 cat
•What is your favorite color?
purple
•What is most memorable about your high school years?
Hmmm..... I went to almost every dance. I'd meet up with my friends and laugh at nothing all night.
•Who was your favorite celebrity as a child?
I wanted to be Diana Ross. Yes, I know I was a little white-bread-no-crust girl, but when I sang (off-key), I was Diana Ross. :)
LOL!!! Well wanting to be Diana Ross is healthier than wanting to be a member of Josie and the Pussycats!
I didn't realize how this cartoon was when I looked it up. The episodes I was watching were repeats I guess...... Man! I still love that cartoon!
•What type of pets do you have? Well, I think I have a
BTW, my mom and dad used to raise miniature poodles when we were growing up. It was hard to give them away, and we almost always had three dogs (the city limit, if not puppies) even if we weren't breeding them. The poodle is a very smart dog!
I remember, Pierre, one dog my dad could NEVER get the papers on from the owner. The dog kept growing... and growing. He ended up a standard. He was so strong and could jump a seven foot fence. My dad could never walk him enough; his energy was endless. He finally hooked his leash up to the back bumper and trained him to run behind the car (that was back in the days it was legal to do this!) and he'd drive around the neighborhood after work.
Happy Father's Day!
As a child, hmmm, favorite celebrity, or at least the one I think of most fondly now, b/c I know if you asked my mom, she'd probably say my fave was something different, due to the fact I had a lot of favorite things... Anyway fave TV people would be
The celebrity I wanted to be was
.As an older child/teen, faves would be:
<--- This would've been a poster on my wall lol.Other posters on my wall were:
and
. Literally... had both of those.
Music-wise as a teen my posters were:
,
, well not this exact Hendrix one, I just can't find a pic of the one I had. Also
and
, Rammstein. I won't make much mention the shameful middle school years, my dreadful Backstreet and NSync phase...
My pets currently are my black lab, Sir Galahad Puppington, aka Puppy, Pup, or dumba**,
and my cat, Merlin, also known as Squish, Mouse, Merle, and dumba**
He looks sweet, but don't let it fool you, he's a punk. We did have another dog, a lab/shepherd mix, Penelope (Penny) Lane, but two dogs and a cat, the hair got to be too much of a chore to clean up, especially with the baby crawlin' around and puttin' everything in his mouth. So we sent her to a new home who loves her very well. We also had an African clawed frog, simply named Frog-chan,
but he passed away recently. He lived to be about 6 years old, I think that's pretty old for a frog.
I thought Legolas was dreamy and swoon-worthy for the longest time and I was old enough to be his mom. Until Orlando Bloom criticized the Disneyland ride Pirates of the Caribbean when they made him go on it (he couldn't see what all the fun was about -- gee, not all of us are around a studio full of special effects!). As you can see from above, Walt Disney was my hero. So now, I just separate the two (Legolas and Orlando) in my mind. :)
Oh yea, I went and watched The Lord of the Rings in theaters 3 times each, I couldn't get enough of him. Orlando as himself is kinda meh, though in Pirates he was sort of cute. But Legolas was my man, I thought he was hot. :)
Yes, he was perfect for that role. I think fame and fortune kinda went to his head. How arrogant do you have to be to criticize Disneyland -- and their most popular ride (a ride that made
you
famous) -- on national TV?

I love that pic! I grew up in a household that was ran by poodles. I'm printing this pic for my mom today!

I had such trouble picking a name for him after we got him. Since the cat's Merlin, I wanted to stick with the King Arthur kind of theme, but couldn't decide, so we just kept calling him Puppy. But he needed an official name for his papers, so Sir Galahad Puppington he became. I had read a romance where a secondary character's name was Tuppington or something like that, so that's where the Puppington came from, sounded good and British lol.
Interesting bunch of questions. lol•Who was your favorite celebrity as a child?

•If you were on an island, who would you want to be with? Why?
I'd probably be with a husband or a boyfriend ( don't have either right now) because I'd hope that my being on an island was a romantic getaway, and that I'm not stranded, LOL!
•You have a 10 minute speech to give at a high school, what is it about?
I'd probably talk about how much life can change, and tell people that the sky really is the limit.
•What is your favorite color?Blue. Sapphire, to be specific. But I’ll take any shade. I was crazy for navy for the longest time. God forbid, if there is a book cover with a blue dress, I want it!
Lisa Kay, that's my fave color too. Next after that would be deep purple then green (emerald green).

•What is most memorable about your high school years? I was way, way too boy crazy. **sigh** I was in the top 10% of a class of almost 800 (#76), but if I'd channeled that effort and energy, I could have been valedictorian!
Sometimes I look back on the young Lisa Kay and just shake my head. It is amazing I turned out a level-headed as I did, LOL! But, I know, it was just because I wanted to be loved.
Wow, 800, Lisa Kay? I thought my class was big of about 400. I attended a school for about 6 months where there were only 10 students in my grade (8th). I was 1 of 2 girls. The 7th grade had 7 students and 1 was a girl.

Thanks a lot ... I really love the third one :)
•What is your favorite color? I too like blues, most any shade, and I like certain shades of green and purple.•What is most memorable about your high school years? Hanging out with my friends, going on band trips in 9th and 10th grade. Marching band went to Disney World and marched in a parade, and our steel drum band got to go to Colorado and play on a stage at 6 Flags, along with a whole bunch of other local performances. Lots of good times, and drama with friends. My school had roughly around 100 kids each grade give or take a few, so everyone knew everyone, but there was still all the drama all the time...
•What word describes you best? La-La (as in la-la land) because I'm always drifting off in the blue :)
•What is your greatest accomplishment? I don't think I've accomplished much of anything yet, one of these days.
•What drives you every day? Oh, I don't know, usually either the urge to go to the bathroom gets me up, or the baby hollers at me :) I have no huge goal type drive...
•What is your favorite food? Oh man, so many... nachos and cheese, pepperoni pizza, turkey and cheese sandwich with honey mustard and some cheddar cheese chips on the side, bacon cheeseburger and fries, chicken alfredo and garlic bread, taco night, a big thick peanut butter and jelly with Smucker's grape jelly... I eat like an unhealthy 5 year old... sad but true.
•Where do you want to retire? Europe! No contest!
•What is your greatest accomplishment? Even harder and more satisfying than earning my BSN was getting my CCRN (Critical Care Certification for Registered Nurse). It was much more a reflection on what I knew and was way beyond studying for state boards. You can't just maintain it by continuing education hours (three times what is required for RN); you must maintain a certain number of ICU bedside hours also. I maintained mine for almost two decades.
Lisa Kay wrote: "•What is your greatest accomplishment? Even harder and more satisfying than earning my BSN was getting my CCRN (Critical Care Certification for Registered Nurse). It was much more a reflection on..."
Good for you Lisa!! You should feel extremely proud of yourself! As I'm only working on my BSN now, I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner, and also kicking myself for not following through on getting my med surg certification (it was a time when I thought I wanted to leave nursing all together!). You've motivated me to keep working at it!!!!
Management was always impressed with the BSN, but I found ICU doctors looked at my badge to see if I had my CCRN. I think it was much more an important achievement. Going back and getting my BSN was so much a re-hash of what I already learned and such a waste of "going through the motions". Well, except for learning how to use my computer. I got really good at Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc. b/c of going back to school. But that would have been true no matter what I studied. Getting my CCRN was about NURSING!Okay, sorry, rant over. :)
Good luck, ✿Michelle✿!

•What drives you every day?Right now? GoodReads. I seem to be obsessed with it, LOL! With my torn rotator cuff, sitting is one of my more comfortable postions, so why not do it in front of the computer?
Lisa Kay wrote: "•What drives you every day?Right now? GoodReads. I seem to be obsessed with it, LOL! With my torn rotator cuff, sitting is one of my more comfortable postions, so why not do it in front of the ..."
LOL! You're too funny. But you're right, why not be comfortable in front of the computer? Or with a good book?
•What is your favorite food?Man-oh-man! Is this a hard question or what? Okay, since it is almost breakfast time and I'm hungry... Apricot French-toast is going to win out over pizza. Yummy!
Lisa Kay wrote: "•Where do you want to retire?Hawaii. :)"
I think I'd like to retire someplace with dry heat. Maybe Arizona? I wonder if I could ever get used to living near rattle snakes and scorpions.
I used to go to Arizona in the spring; it is really pretty then and the heat is tollerable then. Have you ever been to Arecosonti? (spelling?)
My best friend from school and her fiance and baby live in Honolulu, Hawaii right now, but they're going to be moving to Mesa, AZ in the next month to be with her family. I've never been able to afford to go to visit in either place, but maybe one of these days. I'm kinda wary of AZ though, I hate heat, and being hot, and too much sunshine beating down on me, so I don't think I'd like it much. And the lack of nice big tall leafy trees would bother me too I think...
Lisa Kay wrote: "I used to go to Arizona in the spring; it is really pretty then and the heat is tollerable then. Have you ever been to Arecosonti? (spelling?)"I've never been to Arizona. I just love the way it looks on TV, LOL! I was offered a job there, but at the time was too afraid to the big bad unknown. If I was only as bold then, as I am now.......
