I first read this "missing title" book around 1965 when our new library had maybe 200 books; it was a well used book then. It seems there was a soldier dead or dying on a battlefield; sword wound to the head. An old man (wizard type or alchemist) cures him with a good old fashioned magic elixer to the wound, or maybe he drinks it. From there he passes on through times and ages; only one book that I know of, wasn't a series at that time. I don't think it was Highlander but I've never researched that series except movies and TV. It isn't the series on the soldier who used the sword on Jesus. It isn't a children's book as in a JR. High series etc. That's about all I remember for now.
