The Selfish Gene

I am 17 years old and by the beginning of July I will have finished my final school exams. I have had this book for 1 year and I keep wondering if I should read it now (at my age) or save the reading of "The Selfish Gene" for another time for it may need expanded knowledge of subjects such as biology or evolution, in order to perceive every concept in the book. I do read from time to time articles pertinent to biology and other branches of science.

read it, Dawkins writing will make this subject easy for you to understand. He writes for you and me, not Phd Scientists. You will be glad you read it. I also suggest reading The Greatest Show on Earth by Dawkins. Learning about the truth of where you come from is a great idea at your age!
And I agree with both of the above posts! Dawkins' writing is clear and not difficult to follow. I also recommend his book "The Ancestor's Tale," a fascinating read.

Hi if u can distinguish facts from opinion, understand assumptions and premise of an argument. Then you are ready to read any thing under the sun (Esp. Religion and Science).

Yes, definitely go for The Selfish Gene, The Greatest Show on Earth, and The God Delusion.
