I love all Lawrence Block books but I'll admit the Scudder ones are often too violent for my comfort level (though I still read them) :)
Lawrence Block's Matthew Scudder series is my all time favorite. I just read his newest one, A Drop of the Hard Stuff. You definitely had to read the other books to enjoy this one but it was well worth it. I am not an alcoholic but this series definitely made me understand the pull. When you see Mr. Block again, tell him "thank you" from me. And tell him never to stop writing.

I don't know when I'll see him, we live on opposite sides of the continent, but I've passed your message on to him, and I'm sure he appreciates your kind thoughts.

I've read a smattering of books in all of Block's series writings. Scudder and Tanner are good, but my favorite is Keller, the Hit Man. I hope he writes a few more of those books before he retires for good.

I've read the Keller and Scudder books consistently but I never knew he had written so many others. Which other series are closest to either of these two?

offhand cant think of other close relatives of scudder and keller. scudder was Block's main guy. i may be wrong..but i think it was Block who created a comic/thief in a short series. a thief with a heart of gold, sorta.
