Stephen Paper | 3 comments I saw a television show of The Wendigo by Algernon Blackwood when I was a kid. Unfortunately it was right before I went canoeing in the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota and Canada. Kept me up for a few nights.

I would like to suggest L T C Rolt. his single collection "Sleep No More" is a good example of 1940s Jamesian horror.

I know this is an old post but if you haven't come across them yet , there is a 3 volume set published in the late 80's that was pretty good called The Collected Stories of Robert Bloch . https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
