AH | 2271 comments Prized was weird. It was like a different book completely, not a continuation. If it was a standalone, I think I would have liked it more.

message 52: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments You're welcome & thank you! I agree; getting that status for some of those publishers would be a dream. *sigh* Someday.

message 53: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I remember you mentioning that, AH. I didn't catch your post until after I'd requested it. ;) Still haven't heard back. It's been ... I don't know, 2 wks maybe. Oh well. Lots of other stuff TBR.

:D Lethal! Someday. Oh yeah, it'd surely be nice indeed.

message 54: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Books up for grabs:

The Lord of Illusion by Kathryne Kennedy Deliver Me from Darkness A Novel of the Paladin Warriors by Tes Hilaire (there's an actual cover on NG) Stud (Cat Star Chronicles, #8) by Cheryl Brooks Tempest (Tempest #1) by Julie Cross Angel Town (Jill Kismet, #6) by Lilith Saintcrow Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel

message 55: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks, Lethal!

Is anyone reading (or read) Brook's Cat Star Chronicles? I keep seeing those and have come close to buying some several times.

message 56: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments You're very welcome, Steph!

Even though I own Slave (Cat Star Chronicles, #1) by Cheryl Brooks & Outcast (Cat Star Chronicles, #4) by Cheryl Brooks -Kindle freebies-I haven't read them yet. The reviews on this series are like freaking horror stories.

message 57: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! I think I saw Slave as a Kindle freebie a while back. I'll have to ck on it and see if it still is. Might be worth a go if it's free.

message 58: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just received auto approval also for Harlequin!

message 59: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Congrats, Regina!

Sandra Regina wrote: "I just received auto approval also for Harlequin!"

I did too! So excited!

message 61: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I got it too almost a week ago. And I wondered why because I still haven't reviewed any of the books I requested. I really need to get started!

message 62: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Maybe the person vetting the requests is getting sick of making decisions? Lol.

message 63: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments LOL! I haven't been on NG in a while. How do you find out if you're auto-approved?

message 64: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just requested 2 Harlequin titles Yesterday. Today I got an email telling me the Harlequin auto approved me.

message 65: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments They send you an email. :)

message 66: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Thanks. :)

message 67: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Hey - last time I looked Ashfall was a read now book on netgalley. It's very good - take a peek if you can.

message 68: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thanks!

message 69: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I find it strange how many of the publishers say that Goodreads "is not quite enough" in spreading the word.

....

Whhhaattt? Over 6 million members and that's not enough? For me, probably 99% of the books I buy come from GR in some way, whether that's reviews from friends, recommendations from GR or from the groups. Come to think about it, one in particular is pretty unforgiving to the TBR stack... ;)

message 70: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Josie, keep trying for books. I used to only post reviews on GR and I got a lot of books. Maybe update your profile with how many books you read a year? I also chose a lot of Read Now books so I had a bunch of reviews on Net galley before I asked a lot of publishers. We all get rejected, don't worry about it.

message 71: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (stewartry) I want to say thank you for this thread - I've been enjoying Netgalley proofs for a couple of months now because I learned about the site here. I've found some great stuff! (And some awful stuff, but - some great stuff!) The one waiting on my laptop that I'm really looking forward to now - I think; I hope! - is Dearly Departed.

I just have to be careful not to request too many books the spirit is willing, but there's only so much time in a week!

message 72: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thanks for the support AH but don't worry, it wasn't a personal experience lol! I just thought it was odd.
I found the information after looking at what the publishers wanted since I did wonder if you had to have a blog to qualify although I probably wouldn't sign up anyway - I seem to have more books than I can handle and more importantly, I'm not so hot at writing reviews. Maybe one day I'll sign up as you were successful even before your blog :)

message 73: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments It's the Read Now books - auto approved!

message 74: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Ashfall? I just grabbed it!

message 75: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments It's so good. Enjoy it. And then take some Taekwondo lessons and buy lots of vitamin C tablets.

message 76: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I'm already set with vit c. I'll have to look around for classes next. :)

message 77: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I just had to get Ashfall!

Man, next month my priority will be to finish all these reviews.

message 78: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yay, Regina, Sandra & DG! :D

AH wrote: "It's so good. Enjoy it. And then take some Taekwondo lessons and buy lots of vitamin C tablets."

LOL! I'll have to look for that book.

message 79: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thank you for the recommendation for Ashfall. I am really liking it!

message 80: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Regina wrote: "Thank you for the recommendation for Ashfall. I am really liking it!"

Isn't it great? It doesn't really feel like a YA book.

message 81: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments It doesn't. I also love the premise.

message 82: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I've got that one on my wishlist. :)

Also, if anyone spots Gena Showalter's Wicked Nights (Angels of The Dark, #1) by Gena Showalter (due in Jun 2012) out there in NGland, could ya let me know? I want, I want. :D

message 83: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Definitely! I will keep my eye out for it.

message 84: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :D

Dawn (dawnv) Regina wrote: "I just received auto approval also for Harlequin!"

That is really awesome I got rejected from them twice so I gave up :-(

message 88: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I haven't finished all my reviews but I'll see if I can get my hands on the Ione book.

message 89: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'd like to grab the Lords book too. Gotta catch up on my other reads though. Boo hiss

message 90: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Oh my goodness!!!! Netgalley now has Horizon (Aftertime, #3) by Sophie Littlefield !!!!!!!

message 91: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Thanks, Regina. Just requested it. Now I need to read the second book really fast.

message 92: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I will look for your review. :) I loved it, but I am a hardcore Aftertime fan. The beginning is slower, but I think it is important to set up the characters.

message 93: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I have a whole bunch of reviews to do. Long weekend so I'll be reviewing away.

message 94: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) | 87 comments I can't believe I missed that Immortal Rider has been on Netgalley. UGH. Comes out tomorrow so whatever.

message 95: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Yeah -- it has been there awhile!

message 96: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I just saw that this YA book is now on netgalley:

Under the Mesquite by Guadalupe Garcia McCall

message 97: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Amy or "Ames" wrote: "LOL! I haven't been on NG in a while. How do you find out if you're auto-approved?"

I am auto-approved with Harlequin! I never received an email but I requested 2 books just now and they were immediately approved. Whoohoo!

I grabbed On a Dark Wing by Jordan Dane Touch of Power (Healer, #1) by Maria V. Snyder and requested a good few others. If I'm approved for all I'm screwed. I might have to ban myself from my laptop until 2012.

message 98: by Sandra (new)

Sandra I loved Touch of Power, highly recommended!

message 99: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 2752 comments I really liked Touch of Power too.
