Found an ARC on NetGalley you think the group would like to read? Share them here!

I haven't had a chance to pop over to NG in a bit, so I took a few minutes to scan the shelves today and here's what I found:

Misfit by Jon Skovron Rebirth (Aftertime, #2) by Sophie Littlefield Naamah's Blessing (Kushiel's Legacy, #9) by Jacqueline Carey Embraced by Blood (Sweetblood, #2) by Laurie London Feast Harvest of Dreams by Merrie Destefano The Lost (Sin Hunters) by Caridad Piñeiro Dark Awakening by Kendra Leigh Castle Eat, Slay, Love (Living with the Dead) by Jesse Petersen The Neon Graveyard (Signs of the Zodiac, #6) by Vicki Pettersson The Perilous Prophecy of Guard and Goddess (Strangely Beautiful, #3) by Leanna Renee Hieber The Deadliest Bite (Jaz Parks, #8) by Jennifer Rardin Born of Shadows (The League, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Body of Sin (Otherkin, #4) by Eve Silver

... and those are just a small few I recognized.

Do you have an iPhone or iTouch, AH? If so, you can use Stanza's free reader and load the PDF on it.

message 8: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I'm reading the old fashioned way - on the computer. I need to upgrade my Calibre so I don't have to deal with this nonsense. (I'll probably have to upgrade my computer, too, LOL).

message 9: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Well...that could work as a very good reason to get a brand new computer as well!

message 10: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I'm working on it!

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments In addition to some listed above, I just grabbed this one A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

I also get non-fiction and literary ficton from netgalley.

message 14: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments OOOH...Regina, that sounds good. Did you read his Knife of never letting go series?

message 15: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments It looks really good. I am excited. I haven't AH but I have it checked out from the library so I plan to cure that deficiency very soon

message 16: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I really enjoyed it, even though it was difficult to read at times. Well done series. I'm looking for the third book now.

message 17: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I have heard that from alot of people. I have read the first page and thought it was very funny. I am hoping I like it.

Hey guys! Kristina from NetGalley here. Have you checked out our Device Guide? http://www.netgalley.com/about/devices/ It tells you all the different ways to access NetGalleys. The Bluefire Reader app (free!) is a really simple way to read NetGalleys on your iPhone/iPad.

message 20: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Haven't got the fancy phone yet, but I managed to read it on Adobe digital editions on the old laptop. Must have liked the book a lot because I would definitely not do that for just any book.

Kristina, I gave it 5 stars and will post my review once Goodreads stops being so wonky.

message 21: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hi, Kristina! Welcome to the group! We're all big fans of NetGalley. Thanks for sharing the tips.

AH, glad you liked it. GR seems to be on the mend.

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Regina, I couldn't find A Monster Calls. Boo hoo hoo. ;)

Here are a few that look good:

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline The Restorer (The Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens Mechanique A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti by Genevieve Valentine

message 23: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments The Restorer was still there? I didn't find it or the Patrick Ness book.

Oh well, ordered The Restorer.

I'm starting The Lost (I can't seem to get it to come up on the add book because her last name has a ~ over one of the letters).

message 24: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments I got it by searching "lost caridad".

And my bad--The Restorer isn't there anymore. :(

Did anyone else notice all the cowboy and western books listed as "science fiction & fantasy"? Too funny. :)

I was wondering about that. Since when are westerns sci-fi?

I saw all but the first one, do you think it matter of I skipped it? Or would I miss important set-up.

message 35: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Well, I read the first one and it sets up the whole "royal siblings scattered to the winds" theme, but I know each book addresses the story of a specific sibling. So.... maybe ok to read out of order? Sorry, just a guess on my part.

message 36: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I requested Prized (Birthmarked, #2) by Caragh M. O'Brien and I really hope I get approved. I loved Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien . It caught me by surprise, but it was a great story.

message 37: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I finished Prized. While I liked it, I didn't like it as much as Birthmarked. I started reviewing it today and made a like/dislike list and the dislikes were getting long. I put the review down because I want to find nice things to say as well. It was a 2.5-3/5 read for me.

message 38: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments :( Oh no, really? That's too bad. What'd you rate the first? I'll keep an eye out for your review. Is it cool to read it before the book or should I wait till after?

message 39: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I rated the first book a 4, but I was generous. It should have probably been a 3.5. It is almost a separate book from the first, but will make way more sense if you read it in order. She sets up one world in the first book, the next book is in a totally different world.

message 40: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Oh. I gave it 5. I really enjoyed it. Maybe b/c I went into with low expectations, I'm not sure. But, I thought it was a unique and interesting story. Shame she doesn't stay in the world she did, IMO, such a good job of building in the first. I had forgotten (view spoiler) I'll look forward to your review.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Found this on Netgalley a few mins ago. It was trying to hide from me because when I signed in, I couldn't find the sucker.

For those who are interested: Touch of Power (Healer, #1) by Maria V. Snyder

ETA: Also Demons Like It Hot (Demons Unleashed, #2) by Sidney Ayers Diabolical by Cynthia Leitich Smith A Demon Does It Better by Linda Wisdom Hold Me If You Can by Stephanie Rowe Lure of Song and Magic by Patricia Rice How to Worship a Goddess by Stephanie Julian

message 43: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am checking weekly for #3 in the Aftertime series by Sohpie Littlefield. The first two had been on NetGalley, so I am crossing my fingers that #3 will be there.

Aftertime (Aftertime, #1) by Sophie Littlefield Rebirth (Aftertime, #2) by Sophie Littlefield Horizon (Aftertime, #3) by Sophie Littlefield

If you see it there, please let me know!

Lethal that is quite a haul!

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Thanks Vivian & Regina & you're quite welcome! I'm super happy because today I got an email from Netgalley saying all my requests from Harlequin are now AUTO-APPROVED!! AHHH!

message 45: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Very nice!!

message 46: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Thanks, Regina! That has definitely taken away some of the anxiety of requesting from that publisher. I've got this idea in my head that the more I check my inbox, the faster the email saying "Denied/Approved" will come. It's like waiting for the mailman on a Sunday. Madness.

message 47: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I always feel so special when I am approved, so I completely understand. :) Your blog is pretty awesome, so I can see why they would auto approve you ladies.

message 48: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments *Lethal blushes* Awww thanks, Regina! I'm sure my fellow bloggers, AH & Erika, would be thrilled to hear that!

message 49: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments I feel like I am eavesdropping, but thanks Regina.
I requested a few books today, but I've got a bunch to read.

message 50: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I second the WhoopWhoop on your blog, Lethal, AH & Erika - I dig it!

Thanks for sharing the a bit'o NG selections. Definitely a bunch I'd like to request. I'm still pending a yay/nay for Prized (#2 in Birthmarked series) and have a ton already on hand TBR, so I try to limit myself. Otherwise I end up with more than I can in the allotted time frame.

I have the Harlequin auto-approved status too. YAY! It really is nice. Now, if I could get that status for several others ... ;)
