I'm keen!! Go for it.

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Yeah lets do it!

message 203: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I don't see why not :)

By the way, the current one ends on June 20 right? There's no mention of the start/finish date in the first post, but in my reading goals thread I've listed this as finishing on the 20th. Hope that's correct...

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Hmm maybe if the current challenge finishes on the 20th of june then we start the new one then?

Ok all makes sense now. So lets do this.

We start nomination today. 1 person per 10 days.
So first 10 days - everyone 1
Next 10 days - everyone 1
Then we have 10 days to get ready and plan

Sound good?

You guys happy with this?

Riana | 397 comments Can I still jump on board to join for the next round?

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Definitely :)

I just need 1 or 2 others to agree and when I send out the group message, all the details will be in it :)

message 209: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I think we can do it, but it's not too big a deal if the nominations are a little late and we have to postpone a few days.

I think we can do it and I agree with everything. But I know Lu wants to start this on the first of a month to make it more clear when challenges begin and start and I agree with that. So why not slow down and begin on 1 july. No stress with nominations and the people who are still reading for the current one can finish that one before the "stress" of the new one begins.

Thanks guys. I think if we don't get 30 nominations by the second two weeks we can extend it another 10 days and start 1 July.
Let play it by ear :)

Will make the nomination thread soon. So start thinking!

Lauren (Sugar & Snark) | 1262 comments Mod
Lu said I could start nominating but I'm not sure if here is the right place but here goes.
1. Read a book with a key, keyhole or lock on the cover.

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
No, it isn't. There is an official thread that she made for this new challenge :)

Thanks whoops :)

Lauren Smith Just over one day left.
I feel like I'm really working my ass off to finish this challenge! I've only got one book left to read, and I've got less than 100 pages to go, but it's such a long, dense book and I don't think it was a good time for me to read it.
Please lets never have another task that forces you to read a one specific book again!

I have faith in you that you can do it!
And isn't there some kind of rule that when you have almost finished a book it can count? Just like you can use books that you started before the challenge begins if you're only a certain number of pages in.

I hate the tasks where you have to read a book from your to-read shelf. Especially since I once put a lot of books on there, that I have and want to read and will read, but that are mostly non-fiction or classics that are a couple of centuries old. You have to be in the mood to read those.

I have the other problem. Still one day to go and I am more or less done with the books I wanted to read and can't start another, because then I won't finish on time and the books I want to read for the new Mishmash challenge I can't start yet, because we still have one day to go. Don't think I will be reading tomorrow.

message 218: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Your faith was well placed - I'm done at last! I sat down and committed myself to finishing.

I'm not sure about the rule of almost finishing. My personal rule is that it matters when you finish a book, not how much of it you read during a certain period. It doesn't always make perfect sense (eg. if I read the last chapter on the day a challenge starts) but it's the most simple, practical way of doing things.

And hey, we can start Before I Fall now :)

Congrats!

Yeah, I know that different people have different viewpoints on what can count. I myself want to start and finish the book within the period a challenge runs. If I have started a book already before a challenge begins, I feel like I am cheating. Same with if I just have a couple of pages to go after a challenge ends. But that is my personal opinion. I know the rules allow it sometimes.

Yippie, that gives me something to read tomorrow :) Might be that I will read it in one day, unless it is very boring. Right now I am reading a romance novel that I expect to finish tonight and that is that, until the new Mishmash starts. So I can spend all my time on Before I Fall. Great to finally be reading for that challenge.
