Katherine (kathldk) | 141 comments A late start but I'm going by the dates on my read shelf - anything post 20 June, right? Phew.

1. Read a book that has a word in the title that denotes a certain time, such as Today, Tommorrow, Yesterday, Monday - Sunday, Now, Future, Past etc.

2. Read a book where the first two letters of the title are the same (A, The etc. counts). Example: World Without End, Assassins Apprentice, The Time Machine

3. Read a book where a person on the cover is holding some sort of weapon in hand (sword, gun etc.). Please note "holding" not on your back or something.
The Zulu Kings: Shaka

4. Read a book with a word in the title that refers to one of the 5 senses (Taste, smell, see, touch, hear). Example: Heard, aroma, felt, loud etc.
Blindness by Jose Saramago

5. Read a book with food in the title.

6. Read a book that is told by a non magical animal or is about a non magical animal.

7. Read a book with a shocking title.

The Second Book of General Ignorance: Everything You Think You Know Is (Still) Wrong

8. Read an indie publication.

9. Read a book of short stories.
Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea

10. Theme : Seasons. Read a book that either depicts a season on the cover or where the season is an important element of the story.
A Winter’s Tale by Shakespeare

11. Read a book that has water on the cover (Ocean, river, bucket of water, etc.)

12. Read a book with a one word title.
Fingersmith

13. Read a book where siblings are the main characters.
The Crow Road

14. Read a book with a topless girl on cover. (yip you read right)
Paradise Lost

15. Start a new series. Ie. read the first book of a series you haven't read before.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

16. Read a book where a virus is an important part of the plot. It can be a computer virus, or a disease. Real or fictional

17. Read a book that has a word in the title that can have two meanings eg. tail and tale (the word can be spelt the same of differently)
A Game of Thrones
Game that you play, or game in a game farm.

18. Read a book that's title mentions something deadly. (This includes words like murder etc. as well as weapons or monsters that could kill you)

19. Read a book that has something to do with your zodiac sign (either something in the story or on the cover or in the title or author's name).

20. Read a book set in at least two different times. (either through flashbacks or time travel or two story lines mixing. Both times have to be significantly present so no 2 pages of the book set in a different time if the book has 500 pages)

21. Read an autobiography/biography or memoir.
Girl in Translation

22. Read a book set in an alternate world.
Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake

Yeah you got it right. Nice, in one go 14 books. Good luck on the challenge!

message 159: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (kathldk) | 141 comments Thanks! :D Hopefully some of these will crossover for the Diabolical challenge... ;)

message 160: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
If you pick them right they should.
I had several crossovers. But I have completed this one now and I have almost finished the Diabolical and the closer you come to completing a challenge the fewer books there are that will be crossovers.

I always in, anyone else?

message 192: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Me too, of course :) I like this one (although I always struggle to finish at the end!) and I love thinking up tasks.

Well I participate in most challenges. Hell lately I am even making them up. So I am in.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
May 1st nominations start then? 1 a week per person?

message 195: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith ... Just one?

Ok, ok I know we have more active members now...

message 196: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments I don't think I'll finish this one. The magical animal and shocking title tasks got me down. 28/30 is good enough, right? :P

message 197: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Heheh yea not bad :D I give it a A, but not a A+ :)

Yea just 1 per person we need to spread it out a little, otherwise we are going to have it all in 1 week and wait till June 19th to start.

I think we should start June 1st anyway, just to make it easy?

message 198: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Finished one more 21/30

message 199: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Should I put up the nominations on the 10th?

message 200: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
OMG I forgot about this!
I need a quick consensus please

When I send out the mail to the group today, and I open up the new one for nominations, should we have it 2 nominations per person? That is 15 people, we could have 15 nominate before the end of the month.

Is that fine, then we start on the 1st of June?
Or is that pushing it a little bit? Can we do it? Can we start it then?
