Ask Maggie a Question

What's your best advice about getting published at a young age (or any age)?

What or who inspired you to create Sam and why were you inspired to come up with him?
Another question I just thought (I don't know how many questions I'm allowed to ask but here it goes :P) Is it true a movie is coming out?
Oh another thing (he he he) I love the fact that you made this whole mythical werewolves thingy into a totally scientific thing! I was so impressed and I think that is the very reason I love this series! There's no magic or mythical things, is all pure logic and science! How did you come up with this idea? And why did you took a more scientific reason rather than a magical one?
If you ever think of going to Puerto Rico for book signing please let me know!!!! he he he
And also if you have the time, since you seem to love music I wanted to share with you this video I made of this beautiful song that I listened to while reading Shiver and honestly it made the novel seem more emotional, hope you like it:

How did you feel when you were writing the end to Forever?
Can you tell us which girl died when you read the first two pages??? Not Grace, right??
Your stories are always.. so alive, vivid-thanks so much for writing them. How long did it take you to write them? What was your favorite scene(s) from the books? Thanks alot!

How would a young author get her/his book published?
How did you get your books published?

One of the wonderful things about you as an author is that you are so accessible to your fans and readers, via facebook, twitter, your blog and groups like this. It makes us feel so connected to you - I remember in particular personally discussing with you how Sam's change in Shiver reminded me of Aha's "Take On Me" video! Does being so available to the people who read your work inspire you even more? And how do you deal with eventual, albeit I'm guessing rare, criticism in such an open forum as the internet?
Looking forward to meeting you on July 14th in NY!

How did it feel to say goodbye to the wolves of mercy falls? You love to make your readers cry, but did you cry when you typed your last words? Do you anticipate any spin-offs?
Ann

And regarding the faeries, would you consider going back to that world and writing another faerie book?
And finally could you share with us a little more about your new book, The Scorpio Races?
THANKS!

Anyway, i was wondering how you plan your books. do you just come up with an idea and then write the rest of the book or plan it to more detail? say if you only have a couple of ideas for plot, how do you turn these ideas into a fully planned, detailed novel?
thx :D

I want to be a book author and I am trying to write a book. Do you have any tips on writing a good story like you?
Will you please come to Indonesia?
How do you create different and unique and totally lovable characters?
Thank you so much for sparing your time. Keep writing and I hope all your books will bring people joy! :D

I'm looking forward to Forever -- I love the cover designs, and I know I won't be able to put the book down till I've finished it. :) x

I love to write and I could answer that question, but I want to hear it from somebody who has been published.
Your books are amazing!!

I'm a author to be and I am concerned that my writing may be, well, too choppy.
Is there a certain way to smooth that down?
I've had some experience reading my friend's book and noticing that she rarely uses commas and it's a bit choppy; however we have solved her problem. She is going to send her book to a publisher hopefully by next week. It might be a story you would like.
My second question:
See my book I am writing, the name of it is 'Broken Moon' and it is the point of view of wolves and sometimes humans. I've noticed that I need to explain more stuff because my story is very complex; you'd have to read it to understand. Here's just a quicky of it:
It's about a wolf named Grace, she was once a human with a normal life until the day she died. Her body got transformed into a wolf, but not just an average wolf but a demon. She has yet to discover two unlikely wolves to save the world with her, Luke and Sinq. However, when she does find them, will they stick together or will the battle of demons arise?
So, yes when you start reading it, it may seem a bit confusing but it is rather intersting.
How do I should I explain more stuff, without dragging the story along?

I just want you to know that your my favorite person ever!!!
Okay I absolutely love Sam and grace! Okay so is there going to be a love scene with them in the book? Aka a sex scene? Are they going to be kissing and stuff? Please let me know!!!!
I live you Maggie! Your so awesome!
Also, what made you make forever the last book in the series?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Hi Maggie, I adore the shiver books and I look forward to the next book.
I was wondering where you got the idea for shiver? and thankyou for writing books that I enjoy so thoroughly
MANY Thanks xxx

And my two questions are: Can you tell me anything about Clandestine Novel other than what you've said on Twitter? Like maybe the setting or perhaps a guesstimation of when it will be released? Also, do you plan to continue the faerie series?
Thank you for being such an amazing writer. :)

I am not sure quite how many people have asked you this, but I was wondering how old you were when you started writing? And what advice do you have for getting published?
Thanks, your writing is beautiful!
Hi Maggie!
I was wondering if, because you wrote books about werewolves, wouldn't it be only fair if you wrote a series about vampires and/or ghosts?
Please reply back to me!

Ela:)=, waiting 4 "Forever" (That's the signature on my email! No lie!)

I just wanted to ask you what's your favorite part about writing, and the Shiver series?
I love you and your books! :)
-Kimberlee.

Music seems to inspire you a lot, I write the same way, and if you had to pick one song to pair with 'Forever' what would it be?
-Shannon

My question for you is, who is your favorite character from Werewolves Of Mercy Falls to write?
(I'm totally in love with Sam..hahaha.)

My question is: approximately how long does it take you to write a book?
Love your books, and can't wait for Forever!

Thanks, and I can't wait to read Forever!

First of all, I love your books. They give such a creative twist to the story of werewolves. I love it so much!
Okay, questions. :)
1. Who/what was your inspiration for Cole, and what made you come up with the idea for his effect on the story?
-Whenever I picture him, I see Jordan from The Ready Set . . . but that's just me. ;)
2. What was the hardest part when writing about werewolves? Were there drawbacks because of the wide fan base, and how "Twilight" set the preset?
3. For a young author trying to get her story out there, what advice would you give?
4. Are we going to see any more books from you in the future? :)
Thank you for taking this time to answer our questions! It makes me feel good that I can connect with authors this way! :)
-Annie

will there be any spin off stories for the characters in the wolves of mercy series? (either short stories or full books)
Just want to say thanks for some great reading, I have read the Faerie books too and though i liked noth series the wolves of Mercy Falls are my favourites
~ Sandra x

Thank you!!

I absolutely LOVE your books! I've read Lament and Ballad and the Mercy Falls books but have yet to read Forever. What I love about the Mercy Falls is that its impossible for me to predict which is what gives your books intrigue. Those books have without fail gotten me absorbed and I will, without a doubt go on to read Forever. What I also love about your fantasy books is that they set their own rules.
How did you get your ideas?

I heard that you enjoy writing sad books. Is that true? If so, will you be writing any YA books that will make us readers cry? I have cried soooooo much in Shiver and Linger. I really love Sam in your Mercy Falls books. I would just LOVE it if you could maybe do that sometime. I need a good book like that.
Thanks Maggie(:

first of all, i absolutely loved shiver and linger! by far one of my favorites. the way you wrote the stories made me feel so close to sam and grace and all of the characters. cried my eyes out in both books. my question is, will there be another gut wrenching, tearful goodbye for any of the characters? (not just sam or grace) the way you write just makes the reader feel so close to everything!
Sandra wrote: "Hi Maggie! Now that the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy is completed, what's next for you?"
i was wondering that 2!

I'm writing from Hngary. (Hi! It's Szilvi:) Your hungarian fans have a few questions for you, too.
1. Andrea asks what do you feel when you hear the word Shiver? Do you feel like a mother who is proud of her baby when you hear about the succes of the book?
2. Katalin would like to know, if you ever imagined beeing a part of your story (Shiver). If the answer is yes, who would you like to be?
3. Kitti asks what your opinion was on the hungarian "wolf man" (Zoltán) who showed you the wolves here in Hungary.
4. And a question from me: is there any part in the series that you would like to change? I mean: did you ever think "I wish I wrote that scene in a different way!" or something like that... :)
Greetings from Hungary!
Your fans wish you all the best!
Thank you for answering!

Thank you for letting me ask you a question, Alex
