Valerie I decided to start the Taste Test section partly because of these two books:

Eat This Not That: Thousands of Simple Food Swaps That Can Save You 10, 20, 30 Pounds-or More!

Eat This Not That! for Kids: Raise a Lean, Health, Happy Child!

Their general purpose is to help you make healthier choices regarding food and drink. After I read them, I decided to make some changes to my own family's diet. But what I was wondering was if we'd actually like the newer, healthier option, because let's face it - it's not going to make any difference in our diet if we don't like it enough to actually eat it.

I thought it would be interesting to list some of the old and new (and hopefully better) products in this section as we taste test our way through them.

Have you made any changes in your diet? Switched products for the better? Or for the worse? Share your experiences and opinions here.

Things that I'm eventually switching (as soon as we get low enough on the current product) are peanut butter, mayo, soy sauce, and pasta. As we switch, I'll post thoughts here. Please feel free to add your own comments and threads.

akaellen | 8 comments I switched to Skippy naturals peanut butter and I love it. It doesn't need to be refrigerated or stirred. However, if you are trying to go 100% natural it does still have some sugar. (but no HFCS)

I have also tried to incorporate more kinds of grains into my diet (barley, millet, farro, quinoa).

akaellen | 8 comments Also, I can't tell the difference between reg and low sodium soy sauce. So I always buy low sodium and use low sodium at restaurants (if it is not on the table you can ask for it). Next I want to try Shoyu to see how it compares to regular soy sauce.

Sandi | 222 comments Bunny: I need to start seasoning differently and soy sauce and hoisin are two of the things I like best, however, am having to seriously watch/limit salt intake. What would you recommend as a place to start taste testing.

I live in Orlando, just minutes from our great little Vietnamese area with access to great Asian markets and restaurants, so obtaining the right one wouldn't be a problem. What would you recommend?
