The most depressing ending

Artist Arthur I was a little shocked myself with the ending. I actually read that whole chapter twice to make sure he really didn't make it over the fence. Now I can't wait for the next book!

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I think the characters are so forgetable..We've all seen it before...The scared, do what the government wants her to do protagonist, the handsome boyfriend, the popular best friend, and the dead father/mother....I mean the writting is really really good, but the characters are forgettable..I think more people would like it if it had interesting characters??????? (and no I'm not talking about their pasts)..I read the short summary thing of the 2nd book and it says that she might be falling in love again..I was like WHAT!! After she was like "Oh I love you! I can't live without you!!" and such to Alex and then she finds ANOTHER love of her life??? I HATED her in the beggining....Ermm!! Protagontists always make me mad!

I cried a little too- a common occurance when I read sad books. I don't think that I will read the other two books; way too sad. Has anyone read 'before i fall'? Also quite sad.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I was sorta sad..but then I was like oh okay then...I mean I won't be happy if he goes but I won't be very sad either

Gretchen @ Lea, I think that maybe if the author has her find love again, first it is realistic, she is only 18. She is allowed to love again Second though it plays nicely into what the government has been teaching them about love and how toxic and dangerous it is. A unhappy love triangle, say should Alex still be alive somewhere. It keeps the story moving that way.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) True.....But I don't know..It seems that she got over Alex pretty quickly..Then again she probably wasn't trying to find love, it just happened..(Sorry Lena)

Gretchen Well don't jump to conclusions just yet. We don't know how many years will have passed between the first and second novels, plus previews for books are not always accurate.

Gretchen Oh p.s Before I fall is an even better book. If you hated Lena you will really hate the girl in Before I fall so be forewarned.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Okay...I don't usually hate main characters... but I mean she's not as bad as the guy in the book Beastly (in the beggining)..

Gretchen Not sure never read Beastly? The girl in Before I fall, is that girl in high school that makes/made your life miserable.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Oh...mean girlie!!

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) The boy in Beastly thinks that everyone who isn't drop dead gorgeous is super ugly..He only cares about himself..And he says SUPER MEAN THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!! He has a girlfriend but he doesn't love her and she doesn't love him...He is self-centered!!!

Zoë I cried. Like a baby. And I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. I actually slammed my book down and stalked upstairs after I finished reading it, I couldn't bare to look at it anymore.

But yeah, if he's not okay we shall all have to write very angry letters to Lauren Oliver.

i totally agree with you i did exactly the same thing except not stairs, i just stormed down to the lounge. i seriously hope he's alive!!

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) They will probably "cure" him or something...I don't think they will go through the trouble of suspicions that they are killing people..Wait they already kill people's insides so...

Sarah This book was amazing but the ending ugh! it killed me why did he have to die!!! *tears* Does anyone know when the second one coming out and what is it going to be about? Thanks!

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Alex didn't nessesarily die. He could be cured a.k.a. killed inside.

Savannah Jennifer wrote: "I was like why didn't he get over the fence? Did he just know he would not be able to make it? I hope in the next book Lena rescues him from the Crypts and they form a crazy resistance. I wonder if..."

Uhhh didn't Alex die? I don't think Lena could rescue a non-existent Alex. I mean Lauren Oliver did say his shirt had turned crimson. Which means his bodily fluids are pouring out of his body at an enormously fast rate. Which pretty much means he is going to die. He is dead there is no rescuing him. Get on the clue bus.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) WHAT! "Please don't die!! I know I've seen you before (in books) but you're nice!" to Alex...They are like the Capitol, they don't want wait nevermind, they don't care if he dies..

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe he didn't die.... Maybe he was brought to be cured, but then escaped before the procedure took place. However, I do think he probably died. Lauren Oliver always has someone important die in her stories.

In "Before I Fall," the main character dies at the end, right after she had 7 days to make her life right.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Really?? That would be sad... :( Do you think Lena will get over it??

Courteney Lansford Jennifer wrote: "Glad I just figured out this is a trilogy because that was such a depressing ending! I couldn't help but ball my eyes out! Now i have to wait till next Feb for the next book."

I totally agree with you! I cried too

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I didn't..feel so cold-hearted..Does anyone else agree that we've seen all of the characters before???!!

In the summary of the sequel it says quote on quote, "
A future without Alex is unimaginable"

Yeah, but "without Alex" could mean he's dead, cured, prisoner... after all, Lena probably won't really know what's going on inside the city anymore. She might assume he's dead and try to get on with her life, then BAM they'll find him/he'll find them and everything will get complicated.

PS I'm making this up as I go along. I just don't want Alex to be dead.

Abiie Alex should follow Lena in the Wilds... >_<

Savannah Zoë wrote: "Savannah wrote: "Ana wrote: "Maybe he didn't die.... Maybe he was brought to be cured, but then escaped before the procedure took place. However, I do think he probably died. Lauren Oliver always h..."

Alex is dead. Sorry to burst bubbles. But his shirt turned crimson!!! He lost blood at a fast rate!!! Cause and effect. They wouldn't have wanted to cure him. They most likely really wanted to kill him.

Kayla I don't think i've cried like that in so long. I was so upset because I didn't know that it's part of a trilogy. He BETTER BE ALIVE!!! And if she falls in love with someone else, I'm probably going to have a heart attack. I loved that book so much!!!

Arushi Jennifer wrote: "Glad I just figured out this is a trilogy because that was such a depressing ending! I couldn't help but ball my eyes out! Now i have to wait till next Feb for the next book."

agreed

ruthy It's not often you find a book that actually makes you fall in love with a character, and then ends on the biggest cliffhanger ever and you don't know whether he's alive or not, ending up in you bawling your eyes out.
I actually feel a hollow aching in my chest for Alex and what happened to him. I need to know more! I need him back! Gosh, this book is definitely one I'll recommend.

Nicole The ending killed me. SERIOUSLY! I know that Alex is probably dead (especially since Lauren Oliver tends to kill main characters) but i really, REALLY hope that he is still alive. The main thing that is killing my hopes and dreams is that I know that Delirium was first intended to be written as a stand alone novel which is why she "sacrificed" him. :(

Arushi nah, i dont think so. theres a sequel so not all hope is lost !

Tiffany A fatal love story...I was so mad when it ended on such a downer. I felt like a part of me died when Alex died, the ending felt empty and I walked away having to recover. I don't know if a sequel will make me feel any better about the loss of Alex but I'll try to get over it. ;)

He might not be dead ...

Savannah Sam wrote: "He might not be dead ..."

He did die.

Arushi Jennifer wrote: "I was like why didn't he get over the fence? Did he just know he would not be able to make it? I hope in the next book Lena rescues him from the Crypts and they form a crazy resistance. I wonder if..."

ttly!

Arushi Lauren wrote: "I liked that the ending wasnt as perdictable as them running away together!! cant wait to read more of this story :)"

agreed. as much as i want them to be together, i loved the unpredictability of this book. i hope the trilogy ends on a sweet note though :)

Arushi Nurlely wrote: "I am devastated with the ending but I think Lauren Oliver did an excellent job with Delirium. It makes me rooting for Pandemonium...:)"

yeah i cant wait to see whats in store for the next book. my expectations are really high.

Ana Sofía ya i was like wait WHAT??????? and then i read it again and again and then i was kinda depressed.

Nicole I was shocked. I sat and stared...and stared...and stared...and stared...and stared...and stared...and CRIED!!! BAWLING and sobbing my eyes out!

Itsme_dng so excited to read the pandemonium...i hope alex is still aive..

Nicole ikr? I hope so too!!!!!

Alex wait has there been a preview of the next book?

Nicole Alex wrote: "wait has there been a preview of the next book?"

If you get the special edition of Delirium there is an excerpt for Pandemonium. I think it's the first couple of chapters or so.

message 98: by Alex (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alex oh thanks for saying so

Nicole I think the cover for the special edition is A LOT better than the old! ^.^
