Yes, I copied it off the website as it was posted. It was not completed and Karen pulled it after approximately 8 chapters. Someone else had also copied it and had posted it on some group forum page...maybe it was Yahoo? I don't remember. Karen saw it and asked that it be removed, so the poster did take it down. Karen requested that we not post it, so I won't be putting it here.
However, I really hope she posts the Pritkin shorts soon. She has been saying "soon" since last August.
ETA: It was on Google docs, not Yahoo. Go read the Shadowland thread in our group for more details on the posting saga:

and cassie prob would i...
...And what if Cassie ended up pregnant by Rosier as a result of demon sex? Cassie would give birth to Pritkin's sibling. How weird is that?"
technically she dosnt actually have to have sex with rosier to have "demon sex" but roiser will prob ask for that.

it would be such an OMG moment if that actually happened, i think pritkin might cry... i know i would if i was in his shoes, lol.

"Q)Something's up with Fred the 'accountant', I'm sure of it!
A) Ah, Fred. I love Fred. ;D"
I've been thinking about this, and it really doesn't make sense for him to be made one of Cassie's bodyguards if he is just an accountant, and the question of why he is one keeps being dodged. anyone have any theories (plausible or crazy) about this, coz I've got nothing :)

*peers around suspisciously*

Hmm, i wonder if Marlowe is how Mircea seems to know something about Cassie & Pritkin - he seems from what Pritkin says in the diner. And also just how much does Mircea know? And why hasn't he mentioned it to Cassie? And WHY does Pritkin still have all his limbs present? (not that i'm complaining :D)
As for Fred, I really don't know about him. His presence is suspicious, but I can't help but feel that at least part of his personality is genuine, especially after seeing how he failed to handle Augustine, who could blow the whole moving forwards of the coronation to Cassie, and how he froze up when hanging from the rooftops. No traditional, badass master vamp would do that, surely? "I'm badass". Lol ;-P love that line so very much... :)

Perhaps Fenrir will be represented by one of the Weres. That would be an interesting way of bringing Lia into the Cassie cast...and she is already a War Mage.

Maybe Lia can be a descendent of Fenrir. I'm sure he boinked around in his day and left some offspring. The Were clans are really snobby about lineage and Lia's mother was a high-born Were.
How cool would it be if the females leads (Cassie, Dory and Lia) all came together at the end (Ragnarok)and fought for the humans?
Karen Chance has a series of short stories that were all published in anthologies. These three short stories/novellas all are from the POV of Lia de Crossiet, a half-Were half-mage war mage. The stories give us more info about the Weres and their society.
Lia de Croissets (short stories in these anthologies):
Rogue Elements in
, Vegas Odds in
, Skin Deep in

Something that had me wondering...
From KC's old forum (and duplicated in the "Time Twists the Plot" thread):
All four Cassie books cover about a month total. The fifth one picks up a month later, in early August.
Also from KC's old forum:
Death's Mistress: Takes place in early August.
In DM, Dory did not yet know about Cassie ('cuz I think she would have mentioned it). The press was asking Mircea "is it true about you and the new..." which I thought was to be finished with "Pythia".
Does anyone (who has also read DM) see any overlap between HtM and DM?

and im pretty sure kit and mircea have a conversation about him and cassie in front of dory when they think she past out...

With the final Space Shuttle launch about to occur, I've been reminiscing about the space program that has kept several of my neighbors employed for many years.
In HtM Cassie & Mircea go to 1969 twice. That year, the U.S. first landed men on the moon and returned them safely to earth.
I was wondering what ancient vampires and mages from a different time thought about humans on the moon.
What do you think Mircea had to say about the event?
How about Pritkin?

I've got no clue about Toe-sucker... I guess Marlowe'd probably had a lot of intel regarding the matter, after all it was kind of the end of an era of particular superstitions and beliefs and vamps' operations pretty much held thanks to these sentiments.

And Pritkin is awesome too!
Do you think Cassie and Dory will meet soon? Any hints about that?"
I was thinking the same thing! I think it would be very cool for the two of them to meet. It would be especially good for Cassie so she can finally meet the woman in the scrapbook.

i sometimes feel she would forgive mircea and other times i think she would yell and scream at him than shift... maybe she'll do both, lol.

"I thought there was a good chance the fridge was possessed. It was subtle about it, but I had it's number. I knew it's ways. Oh yes."
I was reading this in the lunch room at work and scared the life out of my co-workers when my normally silent reading self busted out laughing. I always find myself laughing when I read Chance. Oh, and after finishing the book I decided I'm terribly in love with Pritkin and dear God I can't wait til she goes to get him out of Hel in the next one. Here's to the next book NOT taking a year or more, oh please, oh please. Can I get an amen?

that is one of my fave scene's in the whole series - talk about hilarious!
i totally agree with the Amen ;)

Jackie wrote: "Pritkin is MUCH better. Mircea still has ulterior motives, I think. Yeah, he tells Cassie how he feels and risks a great deal for her when they travel to the past, but there's something behind thos..."
Completely agree. I can't blame Mircea though. It's part of the culture right? To maneuver, plot, plan. It's sad but that makes his feelings less true for me.
Pritkin was always just, Pritkin. No hidden agenda, just singleminded focus.

Enjee wrote: "I think the "claim" bond that Mircea has with Cassie allows him to know her thoughts, although if thats the case then why hasn't Mircea killed Pritkin yet?"You know, I find this a little funny because I think Cassie is aware of the bond and the fact that he can know her thoughts. It was discussed in a previous novel. I also seem to remember her saying she had to make it a point NOT to think of Pritkin's real identity and keep it specifically from Mircea. So to then have her be unaware that Mircea's answering questions she hasn't answered...bugged me. Another thought on the Mircea knowing her thoughts thing, he was letting on that he knew what Pritkin was (not who, but what) and claiming that Kit found out from his digging. Was he hoping she would say it?

Ok, I should never have picked up the Dorina Basarab series. Now I kinda like Mircea.

Woo hoo, Esra! :-)
I don't hate Pritkin, I actually like him. But I loooooove Mircea, even more so after HtM.

I think that's what put me off Mircea - that and his resemblance to another character from another series - all the political maneuvering. Regardless of his love for Cassie, he can't separate that from what would be good for the senate. So I was like, "Mircea, meh" and then I had to go and read the last Dorina Basarab. *sigh* I'll make room for him.

It's interesting how our feelings for the characters can change depending on the books we read. But this is what makes it interesting. Dang, I think I need to reread the Dory books.
