No problem drop by anytime :) you really would love it, lots of history and beautiful old buildings :)
I'm from Southeast Louisiana, a little town called Walker. It's generally pretty hot, humid, and miserable down here this time of year, but this weekend we've been dealing with Tropical Storm Lee. We've had 8 1/2" of rain in two days! Perfect weather for reading lol!

I am enjoying the cool weather of today though too bad I had to work today so no sitting outside on my front porch swing enjoying a good book.:(
Great to see a fellow Louisianian here Nicki! Today the weather was gorgeous! I took my Life of Pi and my German Shepherd to the dog park and soaked it all in!

Amber wrote: "I live in North Carolina, but I am from Indiana."Hey Amber, I just recently moved to NC, getting adjusted to the weather, moved from a much colder Germany. I am in Fayetteville. What are some cool things to do here?
I was born and raised in Dunedin Florida but three years ago moved to Minnesota. However, now I am living with my Fiancee in Iowa.
New to the group here, but I am from Oklahoma. Born and raised an Okie. :) (very ready to venture to new places)

As an "Old West" buff, Ada, Oklahoma plays a big role in history. Killin' Jim Miller, who was probably the most feared of all the old time outlaws, meet his demise in Ada. A mob of citizens crashed the jail and hanged him and 3 com-padres for the shooting death of an Ada resident.

I'm just a history buff in general and a old west buff in particular. I'll post a link to this particular event when I have time.
http://www.legendsofamerica.com/we-ja...It's a 3 page story but well worth the time.
If you want to just jump to the Ada portion of the story it is the last paragraph on page 3.
Sorry, I am a little behind...Rachel: Ada? Nice! That's actually not too far from were I am now! Do you visit the OK much?
Tracy: History buff. That is awesome. I am a history buff as well, but I must admit I am not as well versed in the Ol' West. Perhaps mostly just with California's Gold Rush era under the topic of westward expansion. The areas of historical interest I lean toward the most are early America, Medieval Europe, and Ancient Israel. (Yes, I am all over the page, hah) Anyway, thank you for sharing the story/link!
Hello, I'm from Split in Croatia. The city has 1700 years already on her back, one roman palace as the downtown, and nice location in the middle of the Adriatic coastline :-)

Abby,
I was visiting one of my favorite used book stores and I picked up a book on California history "A History of the Golden State". It starts with the first Californians and goes through 1972. If you are interested I could send it to you when I'm finished reading it. Let me know if you're interested.
Jennifer wrote: "Born and raised in South Carolina."Jennifer,
I have dreams of retiring to South Carolina. You have an awesome web site. I really like it and plan to visit often.
I still have family in Chattanooga and Knoxville. :D Tennessee is so pretty, and I miss it all that time. :D

Tracy,
I am definitely interested! Thank you for thinking of me! I look forward to reading it after you. :)
Feel free to message me about the logistics of the exchange!
I live in Oklahoma! Born and raised, lived in Portland, Oregon for a short time and LOVED it! Still go back twice a year to visit :) And, my stepdaughter just moved to San Diego from Oklahoma for college! Crazy! :)
I am from New Hampshire "Live Free or Die". It is that small state above New York and Mass and right below Maine. I love the scenery there with Lake Winnipesaukee. My favorite season is the fall.
