Faster or Slower?(when it comes to reading)

Hmm.. i dont notice a particular difference with an e-reader. just that i "flip pages" more constantly due the the font size my reader is set up.I guess it has to do with how much you feel immersed in the book. when you are really into a story you can read faster because your motivated to focus.
I like to savor the book. sometimes re-read parts that i feel have deep meaning not only to the story, but that resonates with me. Some of our friends here have the ability to read faster and perhaps more available time to get thru more books. I dont think they skim through thru them, just absorb the content faster.
I read anytime i have a chance :). I have to, before going to bed, and at work LOL! one min i get the room full of patients , then is quiet for some time.. (that means, run and read before your found to do something else ^_^)
Autumn, I do find my self "flipping " pages more on my kindle, becasue the font size. funny you mentioned that. My daughter is like "geez, mom you are speed reading"....I'm like " No, I just need the print bigger" LOL
I seem to read quicker when I'm reading a book on my laptop Kindle App. and I agree that it has something to do with the font size.
Ok so it ah to have been the book I was ready just seemed to drag for me....The Heir, the last 10% or so of the book, I really liked and it moved along. Now I am reading
and seem to be flying thru it. It had to have been the book.

I flip through books pretty fast on the ereader. That is one element of the Kindle that I truly adore, among others. I do try to savor some books, but I am a fairly fast reader for the most part. I will reread parts for understanding if I feel I have read it too fast and missed the message.
I'll agree with you Heidi. Maybe it's because it's still new to me, and I'm still adjusting to it, and I am still flipping back and forth between book and ebook, since I'm trying to read up some of the books I purchased before the Nook. I also stare at a computer screen all day, and my vision is getting worse, so I think that's a big part of it. I go this week to get new glasses and I'm going to ask about computer glasses as well, hoping that will help.

Lady Danielle "The Book Huntress" wrote: "I could never read only ebooks. I like paper books too much to leave them behind."I agree Danielle. I love paper books but I have limited bookshelf space and so I find the Kindle great from this respect because you can store so many books.
I ahve told my son adn daughter who have had to download books on my kindle that they can use it when I read a pb. I have so many here that i ahev to read them up. I still like the hunt of find a pb I've been loking for....does that sound totally off the wall?

Great comments, ladies! I have a Kindle and find I read much faster on it than when I read a pb. I think it's due to the font. And - I hate to admit this, but since getting my Kindle, I find it hard - Very Hard - to read a paperback. Which is really sad because I have over 250 books in my TBR pile.

I had 110 pb when I got my ereader 6 months ago and I'm still above 100:( I tend to prefer my ereader to the paperbacks. I'm not sure I read faster in it though. I think it depends on the book, whether I like it or not, nothing else.
I don't even buy paperbacks anymore. I read everything on my Kindle. And I have a Nook, too, and can download books from the library. So many books - So little time!
Laura wrote: "So many books - So little time!"Amen!
I only buy paperbacks from the few (=2) series that I follow faithfully. Everything else is just ebook for me as well.
Well, skimming seems to be much more difficult on the Kindle, because you can't just quickly flip through pages to see if anything "good" is going to happen, or how many more pages you have until you reach good stopping point.I do love my Kindle, but like tonight I'm reading
and it's such a comfortable read, that I'm enjoying the feel of the book in my hands.

Lady Danielle "The Book Huntress" wrote: "It's a great book, although I just love The Texan's Wager so much it's hard to compare."I can't imagine any better hero than Carter McKoy in this series. He really just did it for me in a big way.

Ditto! In general, I love Jodi Thomas' heroes, although Walker in A Texan's Luck got on my last nerve at first. But Carter is the tops for me!

That's what I thought! I own them all :)I had trouble finding them but on ebay I found a seller offering the last book, plus several more from another Jodi Thomas series, and it was about the same price as buying the Texan's Reward alone.
AND, it meant that I was then following another series and could legally buy the books for it! LOLOL

I'm glad you got that deal. I know I went out and bought every book by her I could find after I read The Texan's Dream. She's awesome!

Oh that's a nice start! Her older books are great too. Definitely pick up Forever in Texas and Two Texas Hearts if you run across them.

Forever in Texas, definitely. I think Two Texas Hearts is loosely related to The Texan's Dream or Texas Love Song, but you don't have to read them in order.

I read faster on the Kindle. I upped the font! Prop the Kindle on something (carpel tunnel). But...I would prefer to scan bookshelves, see the cover, randomly skim a few pages to decide what I want to read next.
If I had the money and the space (I keep most of my books) and if wishes were horses, I would do both!!
Books mentioned in this topic
Texas Love Song (other topics)The Texan's Dream (other topics)
When a Texan Gambles (other topics)
Texas Rain (other topics)
Give Me a Texas Ranger (other topics)

Also, when you read, to you speed read(skim) thru stuff or do you take your time and savor what you are reading? I see where some are reading 3, 4 even 5 books a day! I am thinking to myself, holy moly do they have nothing else to do? Do they even recall what they've read? Call me crazy but I can't sit and read until everything else is done(floors clean, toilet scrubbed, dishes put away...again, OCD on my part)Hahaha...but just had to ask.
