Start of Summer Challenge
Ahh, it's summer! For a new "holiday" challenge this year, we are celebrating the start of summer. For some of us this means no more school to attend, no more school to teach, longer days and nights, sun and fun and of course... more reading!!
So grab a chair and pull up next to your favorite Umbrealla and find some books to read!!!
Rules:
Pick an UMBRELLA (there are 3) that you like, and find books to read that match the description. No need to pick more than one umbrella, unless you are feeling extra ambitious. Here they are:
Umbrella 1
Pick a word related to summer, spell it out and read those books. Either by author name or title.
Ex)
H- Hourglass by Claudia Gray
O- In the Darkest Night by Patti O'Shea
T- The Dark One by Ronda Thompson
Umbrella 2
Summer Cleaning Time! Assuming you missed the boat on Spring Cleaning, this umbrella is all about the Long TBR LIST. It's time to clear off some books. Pick a bunch to read, or follow some of the guidelines below. Either way, don't pick up a new book!
(Note: these guidelines apply to PNR/UF genre books. Try to use them as much as possible. But if it doesn't work, than feel free to venture out into another genre)
-Read the PNR/UF book that's been on your shelf the longest
-Read the longest book on your shelf
-Read or begin to read a series of books that you've been meaning to get to
-Read that book you randomly bought a few months ago (because we all have one of those) and just haven't gotten around to
Hope that helps everyone get a nice start on their list, now go forth and clean!
Umbrella 3
Find books that fit under the following categories
Easy Peasy - find a PNR/UF book that's a "beach read" (Quick, easy, fluffy whatever you want to call it).
Battle Hardened - Choose an action heavy UF book
Brand New Summer - Read a newly released book
Hot, hot, hot - Read a PNR that's just as hot as summer is.
Long Days, Lazy Nights - Since these summer days are so long, find a book to occupy you that is over 300 pages. NOTE: Try to stick to the pnr/uf/fantasy genre... but if you just can't do it. It's okay to branch out for this one.
