Clarification: Read one of your fifty lowest rated books added before today. If you have a sizable TBR list, you have fifty to choose from. It does not have to be the lowest rated book.
a little confused here. do we have to read THE LOWEST rated book, added before 5/21, or choose ONE OF THE LOWEST of our lowest 50 added before 5/21??? thanks for the clarification. the coffee hasn't kicked in yet!
I read it as read one of the 50 on your list with the lowest ratingone of the books that was a new release which I was looking forward to reading falls in my bottom 50 - The Land of Painted Caves and is well below my average, so I'll have to see if its as bad as everyone says

Dee, Land of the painted Caves IS truly wretched. But I had to see how the series ended. Better you should go to the movie The Cave of Forgotten Dreams. You'll get the same effect (and repetition) and it's over a lot quicker.
don't tell me that!! lol! its the only one on my bottom 50 that I really have an interest in reading...most of them came in a box I got off ebay which I should just donate elsewhere
I'll just tell you to enjoy it, Dee. After all, I stayed up all night to finish it. Felt about as old as those caves the next day.
Heh. Land of Painted Caves is my choice for this one as well. Having read the other five books, I have tor ead the last one even if it's terrible.
I just wanted to say I LOVE this task! It's a really cool idea, and I have a lot of books to choose from (sadly I also own a lot of these "bad" books...oh no!)
Hey, I have read sooo many books people told me were bad (and even enjoyed some of them). In this case, as always, it's just my own opinion. The great thing about reading is that, unless it's for a school assignment, we can each have our own opinion.Moral of the story--find your own bad books--I already have a pile of my own.
i'm reading it now, doing 1-2 chapters a night...its ok...but i'm not racing through it like i've done previous booksJoanna wrote: "Heh. Land of Painted Caves is my choice for this one as well. Having read the other five books, I have tor ead the last one even if it's terrible."

I think anyone who's in a book group sees this all the time - the best discussions are the times when part of the group loves a book and part hates it! If we all like or hate the book, the discussion can get a little boring. But the discussions when people are explaining their differing opinions are fascinating.

I'm having trouble finding the lowest rated. I did as you said, to put my books in ascending order of rating and it does that but for the day it was added. Foe instance if I added 3 books on Jan 12, those three books are put in that order but if I added more on Jan 17, it starts over for that day.so it could be like this;
Books added Jan 12
3.2 for Book 1
3.5 for Book 2
4.0 for Book 3
Books added Jan 17
3.3 for Book 1
3.6 for Book 2
Then the next time I added books on Jan 31 the rating is just between the books for that day.
Does that make sense?
so if I just did the first 50 that showed up I get my 50 books that have been on the shelf the longest, rated day by day.
Am I making sense? I have some rated lower than the first 50 that show up but since they were added at a more recent date, they don't get on the first 50 list.
I think you have the date added as one of the options you are sorting. You may want to try clicking on the Date Added part of the column until you don't see an arrow next to it. That may fix it.As for myself. I own all the books in my TBR list. Thankfully I only bought one of my bottom 50 books. Otherwise this would probably be a very sad task.

I tried the most straightforward sort- only by rating- http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...
You can then strike any added this season- I looked quickly, I think there are only 3 titles in the bottom 50- so you can move to the 53rd on the list (middle of pg 3)
You can also export your list as a csv file (see the link under tools in the left option list) and then manipulate it in a spreadsheet- you can finesse it as much as you want there.

Thanks so much! Now i'll play around with it. i have a lot of books rated 0.00 because they are little known books and haven't been rated. Should I skip them?

You should include them if they are available.

thanks! lol! been struggling with LotPC for 3 weeks now...that's too long...which is unfortunate because I was really looking for a good end to the series
I didn't join Goodreads until 5/28 this year.. so my bottom fifty range from being added 5/28-now... should I do the second option or what?
