If she had tried a little harder, it could have been a well rounded trilogy. But she over-reached and that's why the series fell to pieces. The VA story on the other hand was always meant to be 6 books and it worked.
It could have been better in places and some of the ending was a bit rushed but it still worked and now the parts of the ending that were rushed are being giving space to breathe in the spin-off.
VA trumps Twilight in every way.

Now, let's see..um..twilight? Well, yeah, that's just...Not so mind-blowing...

Team Twilight...<3
Hahaha...
You can't even compare them. They have absolutely nothing in common. Two completely different writing styles, two completely different plots, two completely different sets of morals (did Twilight even have a set of morals?), Two (well, I guess since VA has three , it would be four) completely different types of vampires (oh, who am I kidding? Twilight has Fairies not vampires).

There are endless differences between them. The only thing they have in common is the "vampire." And technically, Vampire Academy, ironically enough, never says the word "vampire."

Although both Bell and Rose are both flawed, Rose's reactions to situations are more believable than Bella.

so VA is my pick

i agree in vampire academy the plots and everything are way deeper and are way more interesting than the - no offense - typical story line that twilight has

you even get a little teary :)
Even if the two main characters (Rose, Bella) are totally different. but that's good because Rose kicks ass. I mean seriously Bella sounds and looks as if shes already dead from the start with the lack of emotions and EVERYTHING!!! once you read vampire academy you think no more of twilight. plus dimitri sounds so much hotter! <3 ....and Adrian .... and everyone else.

ditto :)

Totally! Could'nt have put it better myself :)

It kicks twilights but on so many levels.Like it has more action, the love story line was awesome, and the books didnt get worse as the went on. they got better an..."
Samee with me!!
Vampire academy. VAMPIRES DO NOT SPARKLE!!!!!!

SERIOUSLY???????????????????????????????????????????VAMPIRE ACADEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first reason is about the main characters. In Vampire Academy the main character is a bad ass, half vampire, teenage girl who is training to become a guardian so she can protect her best friend from the bad guys. In Twilight, the main character is a selfish teenager girl who is overly dependent on her vampire boyfriend. Also the supporting characters in Vampire Academy have quite an interesting past that is carried with them through the series creating new problems and solving old ones, in Twilight you didn't really get to know the supporting characters stories till about book three.
My second reason is the plot. I didn't actually get the plot for the first three books in the Twilight saga, and then suddenly in the fourth, she has a baby and the Volturi are coming to kill the Cullen family. In Vampire Academy the plot is mixed with paranormal romance, politics, murder and psychological problems.
My third reason is the historical beliefs in both of the stories. While Stephanie Meyer did actually add in a bit about the history of both werewolves and vampires, Richelle Mead continually educated her audience on the beliefs of the Russians and history of the vampire society, which by itself was more interesting the Stephanie Meyer's version.
Lastly vampires don't sparkle in the freakin' sun!

Also, the friendship between Rosé and Lissa is solid, and Rose is the best.

That being said, my preferences lie with Vampire Academy, purely because I think Rose kicks ass. Plus she isn't completely dependent on Dimitri, like Bella is on Edward. And she didn't go diving off a cliff when Dimitri was gone. All up, I think the characters are more well rounded, the plot line is more interesting. Perhaps I just like it because it's less of a love story, but we'll never know, now will we?

lol, dont get me wrong. Its only a story and not every story is for everyone. Its just my take on it.
Guess you could say im team "Guy who almost hit Bella with a van*
