Interested in finding books of a certain topic or genre that are self published or published through an independent publisher? Post what you are looking for and maybe someone can suggest some books for you to look into!

Connie, what is the Black Dagger Brotherhood?

Jeffrey Getzin | 5 comments Allie,

I suppose this is a silly question, but did you read "The Difference Engine"?

Jeff

Alison DeLuca | 15 comments Oh, yes, Jeff, I certainly did.

Connie Jasperson (cjjasp) | 6 comments They are a series of really nasty Vampire novels, fairly badly written and as I read them I tear at my hair and scream "Why? Why?"

But I love her main characters, a bunch of tough guy vampires who are really compelling despite the plot holes, repetitive boring sex and the contradictions.

Who doesn't love a man who dresses in leather and thumps the kraaapp out of the bad-guys? But they are so badly edited that I won't buy the new one. She is asking 15.99 for the kindle edition, and believe me it is not worth 2.99. This is not Harry Potter that we are talking about. It is a Twilight for grownups and that is all that it is, despite the minor cult following that is starting to develop. They are good, but I am going to wait and get it from the library unless the price goes down.

Rachel Tsoumbakos (racheltsoumbakos) Connie, I had heard about this series, now I am intrigued

Johanna Copeland | 3 comments Oooh Connie, that's what the people who've read my book (Losing Beauty) call it-Twilight for grown-ups. Except I'm at $2.99. Maybe I should check out the Black Dagger Brotherhood to see what the competition is like :)

Cypher Lx (cypherlx) | 15 comments I'm pretty much looking for anything vampire related that I haven't read yet. Since I have read a lot of vampire novels and series, it's hard to do.

Connie, believe me, there are far worse series out there to read. Black Dagger Brotherhood is one of the better ones.

Johanna, I am now intrigued.

I like books with lots of family tension, family secrets, no zombies, no vampires. A real sense of the world today. . .

Loving Sue Maynard's book--she's part of this group!

Amy Eye | 37 comments One type of genre that I love to read (and yes, I may be a bit old for it) is whatever genre you would like to call The Series of Unfortunate Events. I love that wild/out there YA fiction. If anyone has read The KneeBone Boy, that book fits right into it. This genre is just a lot of fun for me to read. Anyone else know of good books that would fit in these lines?

Benjamin (benjaminw) | 3 comments I'm interested in finding books that are cleverly satirical.Social, political or otherwise. Any suggestions?

Who says you have to like what others like? For more than 40 years, I read for escape from the realities of journalism and product publicity. Now I write more than I read and I'm experimenting with different genres including adventure, police procedural, time travel, historical detectives, etc. As to YA, I still have great memories of the Hardy Boys, so there. :-)

message 20: by Amy Eye (new)

Amy Eye | 37 comments OOHH the Hardy Boys, Encylopedia Brown, Nancy Drew: they were all favorites of mine as I was growing up!! I love the way you think, Larry!!
