I always thought it depended on the context or what you were quoting. The examples in the article are no different than what I was taught in school. Being Canadian, I must have been taught the British style.This example looks wrong to me: Did you watch "Sex in the City?" It looks right as: Did you watch "Sex in the City"? The title of the movie is only part of a sentence.
The only time we put punctuation inside a quotation was if you were quoting a full sentence or question.
