I would be a nanny. In real life I was a child care provider. Hopefully I could find a room somewhere to rent.
I would need to work but otherwise my needs are simple. Food, clothes, shelter and a good book. Hopefully the family I would work for would have a well stocked personal library!!!
Question #2 Think about the thousands of people in the world today who must face such challenges. How might their choices differ from (or be the same as) Lucie's?
While reading this book I was thinking of the choices they are talking about and I guess I dont understand..
Question #3 If you have ever lost a job unexpectedly, how did you face that crises? What helped you get through it?I didnt lose my job but my husband lost his. It was a very hard time but we got through it with the help of God, and our families and church family. I have to say though no matter what God always provides.
I have never lost a job. I have left one job to go to another but never lost one. Hubby had that happen. Luckily I was still working. So between his unemployment checks, my pay and family and friends we were blessed and got through that time.
Question #4 Gabe was truly trying to consider what was best for his parents. How would you have advised him to change his approach to the situation? Have you ever felt you knew best for someone? What did you do about it?
Question #5 In today's aging society, many adult children are faced with caring for parents who stubbornly cling to their way of life in spite of ill health and frailty. How has this story helped you better understand why someone might make the choice to hold on to the past? Are there changes in your won life that you are reluctant to make? If so, what are they?
When Lucie realized her feelings for Gabe - a man who had turned his back on his faith - were becoming more complex, how did she deal with that? By shoving them away. It drove me crazy that she was doing that.
How did her faith inspire Gabe's return to God?
Question #7 Have you ever had a relationship -romantic or not - where the other personons lack of faith was an obstacle? If so how did you handle that?

They had a companion. They weren't totally alone. It isn't an easy choice.
Question #8 How did Lucie's Faith sustain her through everything she had to face? How has your faith helped you through difficult times?Mine has helped me have hope. Knowing that God has a purpose and a plan for me no matter what I am going through.
Question #9 What qualities did Gabe's parents see in Lucie that made them think she - although not of his economic and social class - would make him a good wife?I think it was her morals, her faith, and her spirit. How helpful she was to them. How caring.
Question #10 Did you like this book? Yes
What about did (or didnt) you like?
I liked the characters mostly and the story of romance.
How did the authors writing enhance the story?

#1: imagine you are an immagrant alone in a strange land, and you've just lost your job and home. What would you do? How would you survive?
