Klymene wrote: "And I think it was kinda pointless too."

It really was. I loved Prim. It was cruel. And I just think to many people died in the end.

And I just really hated how Katniss changed. What happened to the "do-it-for-you-sister" attitude? She was so lame in Mockingjay....just saying.

Ditto the above comment about Katniss being lame

Naomi (purplebookdragon) | 900 comments she was totally and completely lame in mockinjay. mockingjay actually made me realize that the other two books wernt all that good either.

all great minds think alike. :D

message 105: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I don't know, that is a matter of opinion.
I like them. Not just while I was reading them, but in retrospect as well.

message 106: by natalie (new)

natalie I love them, except Mockingjay wasn't all that great.

message 107: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I liked Mockingjay, but not my favorite. The first and Second were my favorites.
Still, Mockinjay was really good.

message 108: by natalie (new)

natalie Yeah, that's how I feel.

message 109: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 710 comments NOw, I dunno if this makes any sense, but even though the events happen clearly and such and happened because of each other, they seemed totally unconnected in retrospect. Like Finnick died. Prim was brutally murdered (by Suzanne). Gale disappeared at the end, forcing Katniss with Peeta.nothing seemed to happen and flow like (for example) Shannon Hale's/J.K. Rowling's/Rick Riordan's books do. Hunger Games and Catching Fire flowed fairly well, but Mockingjay...not so much.

message 110: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Well...
I will admit to the Gale randomly disappearing without any reason. And it was sad that Finnick died.
I mean, he just got married! Annie was pregnant!
*Sob*

I think the reason I like Mockingjay was because Peeta got hijacked. The rest was... so so. But Peeta got hijacked! And that was what made the book for me

That's just sad, Way.

Siareen | 1620 comments i hated how at the end Katniss chose to have another Hunger Games. i mean, seriously?!?!?!? didnt she have a hard enough time herself? i didnt know she was so cold

message 117: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid There wasn't another game, Siareen. They talked about it, but they never went through with it.

message 118: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) i think they did but they didn't mention it because it wasn't important to Katniss' story with Peeta

message 119: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I don't think so.
I think after Coin died they decided against it.
One second...
Wikipedia says:
"In the epilogue, Katniss speaks as an adult, more than fifteen years later. She is married to Peeta and they have two children. The Hunger Games are over, but she dreads the day her children learn the details of their parents' involvement in both the Games and the war. When she feels upset, Katniss has taken to reminding herself of every good thing that she has ever seen someone do."

It sounds like the games are completely over.

message 120: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) wikipedia...i'd rather get an actual quote from the book

message 121: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I don't have the book though.
Someone should check that out.

Yeah I get that. And I do agree. Mockingjay was just not written as smoothly, like you said. And not as well.

message 124: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Hannah-
No, I'm not sure at all.
I'm almost positive I have some sort of issue.

message 125: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) i guess i have to go look for it now. *sigh*

message 131: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) i did look for it, i really did, and i swear, i've seen it this week lying about somewhere, but i can't find it, i'm sorry, if i see it later, i'll look for a good quote.

message 132: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid That is okay.
I'll google it and see if anything comes up.

message 133: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Okay. People. I googled why Katniss and Haymitch voted yes for the Hunger Games and this is something I found that I thought interesting.

I assumed that Katniss voted yes so that Coin would think she had her support so that Katniss could shoot her instead of Snow. And when her and Haymitch sort of lock eyes in understanding, Haymitch knew her plan.

Think about it, would Katniss or Haymitch honestly want what happened to them to happen to innocent children? Even if they are from the Capitol. They wouldn't want to kill 23 kids and ruin one's life forever. They've been through too much. Even if I'm reading it wrong and they really were voting for it, I'd still like to think they weren't. It makes me feel better."

message 134: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) oh good, that DOES make me feel better about her.

message 135: by Ingrid (last edited Jun 17, 2011 03:51PM) (new)

Ingrid Me too.
I was nervous there for a second.
But I always kind of did like Katniss. Not as much as Prim or Peeta, but I still kind of liked her.

Random thought: Peeta's name makes me think of pita bread. Which suits him seeing as how he is a baker.
Wow, Peeta's on a whole new level now.

message 136: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) woooow did you just think of that? :P

message 137: by Rebekah Faith (new)

message 138: by Ingrid (new)

Wow, I am slow.
Like really slow.
I mean, I saw it before but it never really registered.

message 139: by Emily (new)
