Ingrid Thank you, Anilee, for that well organized and thought out post. I tip my hat to you.

But Hannah, like Anilee said, it's about defending other's right to defend and read things. We may not like it, but that doesn't give us the right to be judgmental about it. Sure, we don't like it, but we should at least give a good reason. Not even a good one, a reason that makes sense! And if people aren't provided with that reason (even if they are) they will argue their point as well as they can. It makes sense and it's a part of what humans do. We argue and discuss and get annoyed and like things. And who has the right to tell us what has gone too far and what hasn't? Who has the right to tell us what we should be reading? No one! No one except for the individual themselves! Argh.

Those hugs were very nice. I enjoyed them immensely.

*Yawn* Sorry, if I say something wrong. I'm tired.

yeah Way, maybe I do, or it just got to my head. I don't know. I don't even remember what I said was disturbing. I'm sorry if it sounded that way.

I agree with you on some points Irene.

You found it slightly disturbing that I would defend manga to the pain.

Which actually, I'm all for being slightly disturbing, so...I succeed in my life's goal. Hallelujah.

message 506: by Hannah, Don't TOUCH my Title Klymy. (new)

Hannah | 3223 comments Mod
That's an interesting life goal.......

I don't aim to be disturbing, I am to stand out. Sometimes in weird ways. I had a fashion statement the other day. One friend told me that I was the only person she knew who would actually on will wear what I did.

No, I'm scared at the fact that people are getting mildly offended, and starting to yell at each other through the computer screen. But I'm probably putting it out of proportion.

Oh...........I think that stopped....(right?)..I'm not yelling.

Strangely enough, your life's goal kind of suits you. In a good way, of course.

it kind of does, doesn't it?

My frivolous life goal as a teen is to make the crazy fashion statements. I should post a picture. Today it's Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

message 512: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid My goal is to not be the opposite of a stereotypical teenager. I want to be an adult.

message 513: by anilee, "Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion." (new)

anilee (anileesghost) | 780 comments Mod
Until you're an adult. Then you kind of...don't want to be an adult anymore.

message 514: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid It's just... When you're an adult you can do more things and people are better at listening (by which I mean, they still suck at listening, but at least they kind of try.)

message 515: by anilee, "Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion." (new)

anilee (anileesghost) | 780 comments Mod
Not true. People are ageist, that's all.

And yes, you can do more things. Like pay taxes and heating bills and have a job.

message 516: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Still, I feel like when I'm older, my opinion will be respected more than it is now.

Those are all good points, Anilee. They make sense, but I really want the freedom that being an adult provides. The freedom to make my own choices and go where I want to go.

message 517: by anilee, "Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion." (new)

anilee (anileesghost) | 780 comments Mod
That is true.

I think it's just kind of like...it seems great, and then you're there, and it's like...great....

Or maybe it's just college, which is this horrible limbo for all that they try to tell you that college is like the real world.

message 518: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid I think college can be really great or really awful. At least, I know Philip enjoyed education but hated his internship because college hadn't prepared him in anyway.
But I think for my other brother it would have been better if he hadn't really gone.

anilee (anileesghost) | 780 comments Mod
College students are...not always as intellectual as you would like. Of course, I'm one to talk; I should be studying for finals, and I'm on Goodreads and watching How I Met Your Mother instead. (In my defense, I had my stats final this morning. Three hours, and I still didn't have enough time...or I did. I just couldn't remember how to answer some of the questions.)

message 520: by Katerina, Mother Gothel's Cake (new)

Katerina (klymene) | 2740 comments Mod
Ditto, Anilee, Ditto. Just had my Multicultural final. I didn't study until 3 days ago. And that is very good by my standards. Already started studying for Calc 1 this friday. And then Psych is on monday, and then Chem on tuesday. I can't wait til break. Just can't wait.

But being 18 makes a BIG difference. People do look at you differently in some settings. I was going to apply for an amazing program that would help me find an internship. Just to be sure, I asked if it was alright that I was still a minor. And you know what the representative did? He laughed, he laughed!!! I was so mad. He said, "You are way ahead of yourself and over your head. You have to be 18 to apply."

But I'm too amazing to be limited to just that shoddy program. Way too amazing.

anilee (anileesghost) | 780 comments Mod
I should be prepping for Early Modern Philosophy....Cryptography studying will happen in the time between breaks. Although my friend and I are meeting for lunch, but...I just have to make a cheat sheet. (Cheat sheets don't help, btw.)

Being eighteen makes a difference? Maybe, but colleges still treat you like you're a child. As soon as you get your parents involved, though...oh, then there's no problem whatsoever. It's so frustrating, although since most college students are complete idiots...maybe that's why.

It's especially aggravating because in some situations (like when we're angry with the school about something they did), they tell us to grow up, that this is life, and it's like, "But before you wanted to hold my hand when I crossed the street...."

And we pay thousands of dollars to be treated like this. And to lose our minds. Got to love it.

The fact is, there's always going to be someone older looking down on you because you're younger.

Although really, he should be applauding you for taking the initiative. I'm a junior and mostly clueless.

Break starts tomorrow night for me. Thank the goose.

So, I was thinking. Wouldn't Zoe Doosh be great to play Annie, in the Hunger Games movie of Mockingjay?

Exactly what I was thinking. Actually, I was looking up Annie and Finnick, and I found her face. Her personality doesn't fit though.... I wonder, how much of ones personality has to fit to a role for it to work out well.

message 529: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 710 comments But if you are a great actor then what your normal personality is wouldn't factor into the character as much.
