Kandice Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.... She just said it so snotty. I came away feeling almost hostile, and I am so not like that!!!!! I use the good ponyclips too. I would never use a rubber band or anything like that. Whatever....

message 4902: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) *rolls eyes*

Well really, like you don't have more important things to worry about that you need to be griped at when you go get your freaking hair cut!

message 4903: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Anywa, I have 2 girlfriends who are also, um... *almost* 40, and we all wear our ponytails high and tight. We tease that if you pull it super tight, it's like a free mini-face lift!!!

message 4904: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) haha!

message 4905: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Just wait, Allison, you'll get here too, someday in the far off future!!!!
Sorry about the Stand.

message 4906: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) no no! I really do like it :) I promise. I just am not addicted to it, and I wasn't in the mood for it this weekend, you know?

I really do want to finish it, and I will soon.

message 4907: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I made a comment in your "read" thread about it.
I bought A Great and Terrible Beauty this weekend, and while I really enjoy the style of Ahab's Wife, I am anxious to finsh so I can read that one.

message 4908: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, I have those three books...I'm trying to get to them pretty soon.

I read Graceling this weekend, which was YA, so I'm going to get through a few other things first. Plus...Howl's Moving Castle just came in at the library for me. :) yay.

message 4909: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) It's almost time for me to chop off all of my hair again. I hate doing it though, because nobody ever cuts it the way I want. I know EXACTLY what I want it to look like, but the person doing it always "interprets" it their own way. And I hate that. It's my head, just do what I say!

I especially hate when they try to do that whole long in front and tapered in the back thing. Yes, its stylish and "IN" now, but it doesn't look right on me, so I don't want it, thanks!

Maybe I should just let it keep growing out and then chop it all off when its super long. I'll donate it or something.

message 4910: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Fiona will love that! I still haven't bought it. *ducks*, but I am going to, and the kids and I are going to read it out loud to each other.

message 4911: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) you should check out Graceling too, I LOVED IT! I was shocked by how much.

message 4912: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yes, Fiona had better be awful proud of me :)

message 4913: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I tend to want a style that just doesn't go with my hair. I mean it's nice and thick, stick straight, so I do best with a bob, but sometimes I want something different. Instead of being honest and saying it wont look like that, they cut it and I'm stuck!

message 4914: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'll look. I didn't realize AGATB was a trilogy!

message 4915: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) oh no! I shouldn't have told you...lol.

message 4916: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) My hair is thick and super-curly underneath, and wavy on top... I have deformed hair! So I just want a cute short hairstyle that isn't TOO short but is easy to maintain... IE: Wash and go. I hate blowdrying, and styling, and all that crap. My morning routine takes about 10 minutes.

message 4917: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I looked at Graceling, which does look intersting, but when they end a summary with "will leave you wanting more", that looks like there's a sequel too.

message 4918: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, I think there might be a sequel...it sets up for one at the end. I was so happy with Graceling though...I didn't even care.

HOWL IS A TRILOGY? I hate you Fiona.

message 4919: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) :)

message 4920: by Allison (last edited Mar 02, 2009 11:53AM) (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Oh...I did look up Graceling. And like I said, she seemed to set it up for a sequel. But SHE DIDN'T MEAN TO. The dolt.

There is a prequel...and she is writing one now that takes place 6 years later and does involve the same characters, but not the same storyline.

So, apperantly Graceling does stand alone. *grumbles* I want more!

message 4921: by Kandice (new)

Kandice You did't tell me it was a trilogy either!!!! Let me say again, good thing Fiona is not a drug pusher!!! We would all be hooked and squandered!!!!!!!!!!

message 4922: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) So, Fiona...you horrible thing...when I read Howl's, am I going to immediately be dying to read the rest or will I be satisfied?

message 4923: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) How do you accidentally set up the ending of a standalone book to indicate that there will be a sequel?? Its either finished or its not! Didn't her publisher ask if there was going to be another book at the end when there was all that "dun dun dunnnnnnnn!" music playing at the end and a big "To Be Continued" sign popped up? LOL

message 4924: by Kandice (new)

Kandice It's imperative we know, because if I need to have the 2nd on hand... I will have to plan!!!!

message 4925: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) well the characters come back together and talk about what they are about to go do...and that was the end. So it seemed to me there would be a book talking about the things they had just decided to go do, you know? APPERANTLY NOT. *kicks author in the shin*

message 4926: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) sorry if that didn't make sense :P I don't want to spoil anything, since everyone should read this fantastic book :)

message 4927: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I don't buy the whole accidental "possible sequel" theory either. That's crap. You know. As a writer you know. IT'S A PLOY!!!!!! Fiona would do it if she was a writer.

message 4928: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Yes she would. (Although I wouldnt put it past her to NOT write the sequel that she tricked us with either!) ;) Shes a tricksy girl... haha

message 4929: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Everyone is doing it! They rope you in, and then 10 books later you're foaming at the mouth still wanting more, while the author sits in their leather reclining desk chair on the Florida Keys cackling like a maniac that her evil plan worked.

message 4930: by Kandice (last edited Mar 02, 2009 12:03PM) (new)

Kandice "Tricksy", who says that? Dobby?

Has anyone read the Pretties/Uglies books? I bought Pretties thinking it was first, so now I have to buy Uglies before I can start. Their YA, but my goddaughter wants to read them.

message 4931: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I've heard of them...I'm probably going to try to read them from the library.

I have heard they're very good.

message 4932: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I love Dobby. I want to give him a hug.

message 4933: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I'm not clicking that link. No more of your tricks Fiona!

Yeah, I can't even think of a newer book that I've read that hasn't turned out to be a sequel/series.

Goodness.

message 4934: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Gollum says tricksy... haha ;)

message 4935: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Graceling

Po was quite lovely, actually :)

message 4938: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Fiona=pure evil.

message 4939: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I'm hungry, and should be reading... I called off from work today because I still feel crappy. I should at least use this time to finish JS&MN if I can. I have about 450 pages... I think I can, I think I can...

So, talk to you girls later! :)

message 4940: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have not, and will not click that link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 4941: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) good luck Becky! Talk to you later :)

message 4942: by Kandice (new)

Kandice OMG! How could I not know that was Gollum? I actually have a Gollum "statue" thing on my desk. You push a button on the rock he's standing on and he says 3 phrases. I am puching it now. *weirdo*

message 4943: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Kandice, you are such a nerd. I <3 you!

message 4944: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Oh Becky! If you haven't really gone, can you get your tonsils out? I wa shoping for you...

message 4945: by Kandice (new)

Kandice STOP IT FIONA!!!!!!!!

message 4946: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) hey Fiona, explain again how to post a picture? I want to show you guys my HP robe :)

message 4947: by Kandice (new)

Kandice That' pretty cool. I always wanted a sword. You know the "real" ones you hang on your wall? I think my husband would draw the line there. :)

message 4948: by Kandice (new)

Kandice There you go speaking Greek again!

message 4949: by Kandice (new)

Kandice At Disneyland (of all places) they now have a Sword store in Fantasyland. It had a LOTR swords. Very, very expensive. Do you remember the name of Arwen's? It's a very pretty name.

message 4950: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I know Feta, Kalamata... ummm, that's it.
