I'm off to read! Have many books to get through and hoping for a quiet evening.

message 4802: by [deleted user] (new)

Happy Reading to all & to all a good night!!!!!

:)

message 4804: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) no no! no more TBR! haha. I'm stressed enough.

message 4805: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) hahahaha!

message 4806: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Is that a seedling I see sprouting there at the top?

message 4807: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Came back to almost 300 posts...not bad ladies!! I thought for sure it would be more though.

Allison, your ability to devour books always amazes me! I've already added Graceling to my pile btw. Let me know about the Georgette Heyer you bought. I saw one of her books at the library, but resisted since I have so many out.

Okay, next question from the observation deck: Where do you all live - well, not exact address, but maybe country, county, state, or whatever ...

Liz from USA: Massachusetts

message 4809: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Jackie: Connecticut..yayyyy we're in the same time zone :-)

message 4810: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Is it just the keyboard that is giving you trouble?

message 4811: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) What kind of laptop is it? Can you call the company and trade it in?

message 4812: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Well at least you have that option. You can try going online to look at what other budget laptops are out there and look at the customer reviews.

message 4813: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Yeah, but you shouldn't have to spend extra money for keyboard when it should work.

message 4814: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I really need to write reviews for the books I've read, but I have nothing clever to say :/

message 4815: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) If I could get another laptop I would definitely get a Mac, but I just got this one last year and it works perfectly fine. I think they had Macs on sale since the new ones came out. You should look into it if you take yours back.

message 4816: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) You could get one that reads your mind. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it. ;)

message 4817: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) You would just have to make sure that it knows to filter out Evilness. There should be a setting somewhere for that.

message 4818: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I don't think there is filter strong enough for Fiona. lol.

message 4819: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Maybe you could get a "Typing Wand", like Homer Simpson's "Dialling Wand"...? Hehehe...

message 4820: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) We have a Mac desktop and I LOVE IT. I would kill for a Mac lappie, but I have a like....5 year old Dell that is still chugging along, so I'm satisfied for now.

Jackie, I'm really looking forward to reading the Georgette Hayer I bought! It isn't the one I wanted the most, but don't think all of them are still in print (not sure). I'll let you know when I read it :)

message 4821: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) although, like Fiona, I do think everything Apple is overpriced.

Seems like everything is switching over to it though.

message 4822: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) alrighty then, finished An Assembly Such As This, but I don't really feel like going on with the next in the trilogy right now, so...

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell it is. YAY! I'm so excited to read this.

I'm, from Northern Israel.
I think I have a kidney infection which kept writhing around in pain all night so neither me or hubby slept well.
Now I have to decided whether to stay home form work or try to survive on pain killers.

message 4824: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Esther, go to the doctor! I had a kidney infection once and it was seriously one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. They can get really out of hand too, so go to the doctor!

Oh me and kidney infections are well acquainted I know need anti-biotics. And painkillers. I had my kids with natural childbirth but with this type of infection I take the strongest painkillers I can get.

But the Docs is opposite where I work so I could nip over mid-morning. And I too sick to deal with all the cr*p involved in not going to work.

message 4826: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) ewwww, bugs are my enemy, dead or alive.

I would have screamed and thrown it too. Except then my dog would have probably thought it was a treat and eaten it.

I tried to go to sleep early last night, so I only got about 25 pages into North and South...so far so good! I mean, I feel like I already know the characters so I'm having fun reading it.

Probably I'll finish The Stand after North and South, or perhaps I'll take a break from N&S to finish it...I dunno.

message 4827: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) eeeek! I don't think I could read it at night, I'm probably a weenie.

Have you read Wives and Daughters? We should read that one of these days.

message 4828: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, I don't think we get the BBC station that actually plays the mini series here, although I'm not sure. Its like a BBC America station and it seems like it only ever has shows like Cash in the Attic/You Are What You Eat...and shows like that, not movies.

message 4829: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) WOOHOO! The library just called, and Howl's just came in for me :)

message 4830: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, I would probably veg out in front of BBC 24/7 if I could watch the movies all the time.

Yes, after reading a fantastic book called Graceling by Kristin Cashore I am excited to try Howl's Moving Castle.

message 4831: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) hahahaha.

message 4832: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) the crunchy cheetos are the best :)

I would send you some, but they would be smashed.

message 4833: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) LOL...I read a Stephanie Plum novel over the weekend where...well...wait...first of all, Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter, when people get a bond and get out of jail, and then don't show up for court...she has to go track them down and bring them in.

ANYWAY...one of the people was a lady that held up a Frito Lay truck and stole all the "Cheez Doodles." And ate like a 100 bags of them. LOL. It cracked me up. Then she got stressed about having to go to court and held up ANOTHER truck, and ate a ton more...and then couldn't find any clean clothes because everything had orange stains on them.

HAHAHAHAHA.

message 4834: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) So, it could be worse. :)

message 4835: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I'm going to start calling them knobley cheetos, I can see it now. I've already started calling our trailer a caravan...hahaha.

message 4836: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah...gypsy sounds way better than white trash.

message 4837: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I AM completely cracked :)

message 4838: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) thats true.

message 4839: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) all this talk about cheetos has made me hungry.

Lunch is 1 hour away! :(

I have leftover homemade pizza though :) yummm.

message 4840: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) and tonight I get to eat here:

http://www.freddysfrozencustard.com/

then I'm going to see Confessions of a Shopaholic. I'm excited to see it! The books make me laugh.

message 4841: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) everyone in my office right now is standing around and talking and goofing off...I want to get out my book and read! lol.

How sad is that?

message 4842: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I am DYING to meet Mr. Thornton in N&S. I can't wait to read the book, and go watch the movie with my mom next week. yay :)

So are the characters in IT children? I don't really know anything about the book.

message 4843: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I know she describes "the big moment" as a "delicious silence"...right?

message 4844: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) *swoon* so romantic...

I want Mr. Thornton. Big time. Forget cranky Mr. Darcy.

message 4845: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I get so mad now everytime I think about how popular P&P is, when it SHOULD be N&S.

message 4846: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I really want to read Ruth too, it sounds very good.

message 4847: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments Hey Fiona how is It coming along?

message 4848: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments I know what you mean. I love to finish one I get all excited and then love the dilema of what to choose next. hehe!!!

message 4849: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) My favorite feeling in the world is when I finish a great book that I know is a 5 star (most recently this is Graceling by Kristin Cashore), and the second I read the last word I immediately want to just...start over and read the whole thing again.

When a book is that good, it makes reading so worthwhile.

*sigh*

message 4850: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) hey Fiona...that plug was a BIT more subtle...sorta.
