Kandice Happy birthday! I haven't ever been able to do the spa thing, but I have girlfriends who love it. What will you have "done" there?

message 4102: by Jackie (last edited Feb 26, 2009 08:47AM) (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Thanks! It's my first time having one. I'm hoping to start a yearly tradition.

It's an swedish/aroma therapy massage (1 hour), European facial, and mani/pedi deluxe (more massage and essential oils).

message 4103: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I really think I will read it...sometime. :)

message 4104: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Well, now I have brought Ahab's Wife to work with me, so I'll have to start that. I just didn't actually know anyone that read Middlesex, but if you liked it Rach, I'll probably read that next!

message 4105: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Man, the next part of The Stand is a long section about that Trashcan guy and I don't want to read it :(

message 4106: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Do you not like Trashy? Lots of people seem not to, but I just felt really sorry for him.

message 4107: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I just don't care about him that much one way or the other (at least not yet)...I just want to go back to Nick or Larry or Stu or...anybody else :P

Thanks Fiona. I'm going by myself. Unfortunately, none of my friends have the extra spending money :(

Kandice When I was in middle school, I had a friend who was a hermaphrodite. She was the fourth child, the first 3 being boys, so her parents named her Stacy, and raised her as a girl. Unfortunately, they should have chosen boy. We moved 2 years later, but I have always been curious as to what course her life took.

Jeane, how are you enjoying Outlander?"

So much is happening in Outlander and I like it, it isn't bad but I don't really see her coming back.....now she is going to be drowned or live but being a witch.....

great!!!!! I couldn't stop once i started so just read it in one time. His books have that effect on me...

message 4115: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) okay...so the Trashcan part is interesting too :) I should have known.

message 4116: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Don't you just love the way King sucks you into his funky little worlds?

message 4117: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I don't even think it would matter if there was a plot! His style rocks.

message 4118: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) oh, I read on Wikipedia that The Stand miniseries is only available from major retailers as part of a box set with some other stuff. Bummer.

message 4119: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I have an other hour and a half to read!!!!!! thanks to my organizing fast but good meal...hehe

message 4120: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Yay Jeane! Hey what about the mushrooms? I asked if, when you make pizza, have you tried cooking them above the sauce, but below the cheese. I think they come out perfect that way!

message 4121: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Oh, I know Allison. I say all the time, I would read the guy's to-do list and be a happy camper! He is my forever favorite. Even his that aren't my favorites, I like better than anyone else.

didn't read that but then again I jsut scrolled fast and now and then catched something. i don't have the time to check more than 300 posts on weekdays after work but...never tried them like that now. sounds great! will try it once. most of the time when my boyfriend makes pizza it is or with mozarella or sauce, oil, herbs and salt...mmmmmm:-)

message 4123: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, I feel like a jerk because I don't at all feel sorry for him...where I am in the book, he just got to Vegas and met Lloyd...and it flashes back to him meeting up with the Kid.

message 4124: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Don't feel like ajerk for not liking him. I think most people don't. I just felt sorry for him.
I really disliked Nadine, but I was also intrigued by her. It can go both ways.
Did you guysreally dislike Lloyd as well? I kind of felt he could have been an okay guy, but just had a hard road and made crappy choices.

message 4125: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Fiona-Is git a bad work, or does it just mean, like a jerk or something?

message 4126: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I (so far) feel for Lloyd way more than Nadine, Harold, and Trashy...those 3 are at the top of my crap list.

So...I agree with you. I don't think he would have been a bad guy if circumstances hadn't made him one.

But then...I'm also not done, so I don't know what stunts he might be about to pull.

message 4127: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I like the way that sounds, though. I just said it out loud. (silly girl)

message 4128: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Allison, you are obviously reading the uncut version, as the original had very little about Trashy. I was wondering.

message 4129: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Yeah, my book says uncut. I'm reading the one with the tv miniseries cover.

message 4130: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Yes, and "in e" If someone walks by and pops their head in I will pretend to be on the phone!

message 4131: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I call people gits!

message 4132: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) ...probably got it from a book though, lol.

message 4133: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I have double taked more than once like...wth? because the only thing I know him from is Forrest Gump, LOL.

message 4134: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I hate when a book has the movie cover. What exactly is on the cover? Just Stu? I must say, I didn't find him all that attractive as Lt. Dan, but he was hella handsome as Stu!!!!

message 4135: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Stu and Fran? I assume...Molly Ringwald.

message 4136: by Allison (new)

message 4137: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Oh my gosh! There is a bit of an "office drama". One of my best friends here at work is a gay man. He is very handsome, and I always tease him that it's a waste. Anyway, one of the cleaning girls just came in my office. I always try to talk to them and be kind. (no one else does) She has a crush on him!!!! I had to break it to her that he will not be interested as she's trying to get me to pave the way for an introduction. How do I get into these situations.

Should I tell him?

message 4138: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Man I HATE Molly Ringwald as Frannie!!!!!

message 4139: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) nope...don't tell him.

message 4140: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) LMAO...okay so I was on the GR homepage where all group updates show up...and on another group the title of a thread is "Help Young Children Get Ready to Read"...the "to Read" at the end was cut off...and I was just glancing over everything, and I read "Help Young Children Get RANDY"

LOL...I just laughed really loud...luckily no one else is in the front office with me right now :)

message 4141: by Kandice (new)

Kandice She's a sweet girl too! I felt bad, because I know it took courage to approach me with something like that. I won't tell him.

I just don't like her voice. (Molly Ringwald's) I think because she was in so many teen movies when I was younger, I never got her out of those roles in my head. I can't take her seriously and Frannie was a serious character.

message 4142: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Ha ha!!! I thought I was the only person under the age of 70 who knew what the word Randy meant! I guess you do to Allison.

message 4143: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yes ma'am I do :)

message 4144: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I don't really like Molly Ringwald, even in the 80s movies.

message 4145: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I am so freaking annoyed that A) I have to work and can't be home reading The Stand and B) Today isn't Friday.

message 4146: by Kandice (new)

Kandice She's okay in those, for me, but I just can't take her seriously. She plays a mom in a new t.v. series, and it's not like I am interested, but even if I was, I owuldn't watch it just because of her.

I loved Pretty in Pink, and of course The Breakfast Club!!!!!

message 4147: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) see...I wasn't a big fan of PiP or TBC. *shrugs* I'm a spoiled 90s kid, I guess.

message 4148: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) you know what movie I grew up LOVING?

Wild Hearts Can't be Broken.

oooooooo I love it. Same guy as PiP.

message 4149: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) silly English.
