Allison (inconceivably) I'm hungry! My husband is gone on business, soooo I'm trying to decide if I should cook for myself or just grab something.

He travels a LOT! He just started a new job. But we're just thankful he got one at all :)

message 3802: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I was going to say, it seems he has to travel a lot. It doesn't happen often, but when I am on my own for dinner, I ALWAYS grab something out! As a family we don't go out much, and when we do, it's usually the children that are catered to, so I LOVE getting to choose whatever I want and not have any clean up from it!

message 3803: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) He has to audit car dealerships for banks (I think YUCK! but he enjoys it), so he covers a lot of Oklahoma and Kansas, so has to make overnight trips quite often...but he is always home for weekends, so it works out okay...I get plenty of time to read :)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Fi dragged me here.

Random Thought: I want TSFT. *whines* I left it at a friends.

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments In comments?

Fi, I feel the exact same way. I don't know how the hell I left it there.

message 3806: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments That's sort of ridiculous.

I hope you figured how to turn it off.

message 3807: by Kandice (new)

Kandice We are so close to 6000 we can smell it! Yay!!!
I read a short story from a collection by Stephen King just so I could discuss it on another group. Unfortunately, I now want to abandon my other book and read the whole short story collection!

message 3808: by Kandice (last edited Feb 24, 2009 04:08PM) (new)

Kandice Well, I would finish later! It's an Agatha Christie, and chances are I've already read it. I never rememember until I get pretty far, and then all of a sudden.. Ahha! I HAVE read this.
That's why I haven't really added many to my read list, until I read or start reading them again. I don't want to get confused!!!!

message 3809: by Kandice (new)

Kandice The problem is that I have been reading them since I was a little girl. Mostly at my grandma's. I don;t own as many as I have read, so if I come across one for cheap, I always buy it hoping I have not read it before. Same thing with Earl Stanley Gardener and Perry Mason. They are all so formulaic.
I don't care. I love them anyway. *pets tattered book*

message 3810: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I don't think it airs here, but I totally would! Are you familiar with Perry Mason? I loved those shows as a kid, and tore through my grandma's books at breakneck speed!

message 3811: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Did you see that Rora is reading Howl's even though it didn't win? Made you smile, huh?

message 3812: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Nope, never heard of it.
Perry Mason was an attorney that ALWAYS solved every single case, except one time when his client was guilty and he made sure the client was punished. We are talking hundreds of books that were later turned into a t.v. series. The series was on in the 60's, and later in the 70's and 80's they made t.v. movies. He was played by Raymond Burr and was a huge crush for my girlish heart!

message 3813: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I will see if I can find it. Is it an English show? What's it about?

message 3814: by Kandice (new)

Kandice You silly girl! I was all excited thinking someone else had finished ICTC.

message 3815: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I found it. Was it a mini-series? It looks like there were only 10 episodes.

message 3816: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I really like Diane Wiest and Rutger Hauer. It was aired on the Sci-Fi channel here, at some point.

message 3817: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Nope. I was hoping to find it on E-Bay. We don't have NetFlix.

I want to see the Tudors too! I was actually thinking of just buying season 1. I'm sure I will like it, and it was $40 at Target. Not a horrendous amount for 13 episodes.

message 3818: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) You aren't missing anything Kandice...ICTC isn't even available on Netflix :( stupid. The Tudors is though! Speaking of which...I need to mail off the movies we still have here so I can get the first couple of discs. :)

I finished Book 1 of The Stand...Stu, Fran and Harold meet up at the end of it. Does Harold get any better? He is annoying the crap out of me at this point.

And aww...I'm looking forward to something good happening to Nick Andros. He is such a sweet kid.

message 3819: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) oh...and I'm excited because the library called and I can go pick up Graceling tomorrow!

Had such bad headache of my shoulders that were blocked from monday afternoon till wednesday evening...so couldn't really read much and not spend much time on the computer. Had to do that already the whole day. I am back! Besides friday evening I won't be around.

Which ones you make? Iw as so glad there was some left from sunday. I put it int he oven and it tasted delicious and could warm a lasagna for my boyfriend. Must have been good for hime too because eysterday evening he came home and asked if he could eat it again. But prepared pasta for su instead and a sandwich with mortadella for him before that.

Lunch breaks should really be longer. I don't know if I can stand to work for 4 more hours before I can go home and read!!

The Stand is very very addicting."

I want a shorter one. one hour is too long for me and msot of the time I am jsut back at work again ebfore . I do read during lunch but an hour is just toooo long.

It ahs a much bigger meaning and it is a wonderful, gripping, emotional book that jsut adds to your life!

stop it you. I am working the whole day, don't have time to catch up!

message 3828: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) OMG I've been staying away from this thread - too much to catch up on ! Hope you guys get to your goal tho.

Hey Jeane - I just got to Ch. 5 of The Loop this AM. Where they introduce Helen. Please tell me this is the one that Dan is gonna fall for - or at least be interested in? I just just started the chapter, but I think I like her.

Fiona - How did the interview go?

Lisa - Hope your surgery went well! Will say some prayers for you!

Kandice - Congrats on your new ring, it sounds really pretty. I'm like you, I would want to preserve my ring, small as it is, too. He sounds pretty creative to come up with a whole new design like that!

message 3829: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Hi Laura! I've been wondering where you got off to.

message 3830: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I had to physically hold my eyes open last night when I was reading because I was falling asleep and I could NOT stand to stop (haha, STAND to stop). It was sad.

Back in the good ole days, if I wanted to stay up...I stayed up. Like HP 7? Forget it. I was awake until I finished it at 7:00 AM the morning it came out, lol. Now...I'm old.

message 3831: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I even got to the end of Book 1 and thought "a normal person would stop here, this is a fantastic place to stop until tomorrow!"

Then I read like 30 more pages...I am a crazy person.

message 3832: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Yeah, hopefully I can finish it this weekend so I don't have to worry about getting up for work.

message 3833: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) But no zombie reading for IT? I can't imagine anything being like The Stand.

message 3834: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Harold is NOT an endearing guy. You spend (or I did) a lot of the book wanting to smack some sense into him. Like Fiona said, though, he's interesting to read, because we all know people a little like him. I felt a tad sorry for him, but... well that wavers.

message 3835: by Kandice (last edited Feb 25, 2009 07:09AM) (new)

Kandice I was very, very interested in that damn Naomi. I didn't realte to her at all, so found her very intriguing (sp).

Nick is my very favorite. Don't you think Rob Lowe's face is the perfect face for that character. Makes no difference he doesn't speak. The face is the thing.

message 3836: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) aww....yeah, I can easily imagine him as Nick.

I have got to get my hands on that miniseries!

I'm still secretly hoping Harold will fall and fracture his skull :) but I haven't read just a ton of him yet...so I'll keep an open mind.

message 3837: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'm assuming you are at work, Allison. How's your fearless leader today? Will you be resorting to Visine in the Pepsi?

message 3838: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) haha...I woke up in a pretty good mood...so he is safe to drink for another day! :)

message 3839: by Allison (last edited Mar 13, 2009 02:40PM) (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Kandice, have you read a lot of Agatha Christie? I think I have Murder on the Orient Express, but I haven't read anything by her yet.

message 3840: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have read tons! Like I was telling Fiona, though, all her books kind of run together in my mind. They are incredibly formulaic. It doesn't mean I don;t enjoy the, I really do, it just makes it hard to remember which ones I have read by the title alone. I can heartily recommend them!

Have you ever read any Perry Mason?

message 3841: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) ***Butting in***

I'm a CPA w/a tax practice Allison, and not lots of staff, so most of the work falls on me. This time of year I can't be on much. :(

You guys are making me want to read Stephen King again - I haven't read his stuff in years, but in H.S. I dated a guy who loved him so I read alot of his stuff back then.

Anyway - loving The Loop! It reminds me so much of Prodigal Summer which is terrific of course.

Lord, speaking of Rob Lowe - is anyone else a fan of The West Wing? Rob Lowe is the cutest - and what great acting on that show as a whole. And writing too.

message 3842: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Never read Perry Mason.

DYING to read The Loop...I have it on hold at the library, I just need the loser that checked it out to bring it back.

message 3843: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Is The Divide good? When someone had the gall to check out The Loop before me, I picked up The Divide...but maybe I should just return it and wait for The Loop.

message 3844: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1000 comments Ok so if (G)Emma decides to pop in here again, I am picking up Rebel Angels from the library today which means AGATB gets bumped almost to the top of my TBR pile!

message 3845: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow! 8000 posts in this topic! Can we do it?

message 3846: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going to have to add the loop to my TBR list which keeps growing & growing.

message 3847: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow! Laura you must be very busy. I don't think we will see much of you in April! At least the beginning of April.

I really need to get my tax information together but with this divorce I have to get orders on dividing up things to file seperately.

message 3848: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Oh no Emilee...I hope it won't be too complicated! Taxes make me nervous because I always forget something.

Kandice Heather wrote: "Anyone read Salem's Lot yet? That's one of King's that I'm really looking forward to. Even though I will probably have some serious nightmares because of it :)"

Salem's Lot is my favorite King book. I think it's the very scariest. I know vampire's don't really exist, and I prefer the glamorized Rice version, or realistic Harris version, but still... this book, for whatever reason terrifies me.
