Jackie (thenightowl) I'm really surprised the person didn't say anything.

Allison, no I haven't seen it nor have I seen the whole movie. Shocking, I know. lol.

message 6302: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I've never seen the movie either...or not all of it, anyway.

I KNOW the ending will just piss me off :P I'm still tempted to give it a try.

message 6303: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I think I saw THAT movie, LOL.

message 6304: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I saw it when I was little...and so all I remember is something like...Scarlett and Rhett on an island somewhere having steamy sex :)

message 6305: by Allison (last edited Mar 10, 2009 09:10AM) (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I have a horror of that happening to me too, Heather. Everytime the boards are slow, more and more books get added :(

I just made myself a list of things I actually foresee myself wanting in the near future, I'm going to scout out Goodwill and the used bookstore after work...not that it'll help my TBR shelf, but I'm excited to buy books :D

(just don't tell Fiona)

message 6306: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) nope, we just have a locally owned half price store.

message 6307: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 510 comments Jackie wrote: "LOL...Kathy! You're lucky she didn't see you outside of the stall or think you were soliciting her. Remember the politician who got caught out in the stall? "

Jackie, that's what one of my friends said, that she probably thought I was trying to hit on her. Me oh my.

Allison, I have read Gone With the Wind and seen the movie, enjoyed both. Like you Heather, I need to read Scarlett to get some satisfaction about Scarlett and Rhett, and I also thought it was pretty good in spite of what the critics said. I have
Rhett Butler's People on my shelf to read sometime this year. I thought I might as well read it, too.

Heather, I am absolutely loving Drums. I can understand how it might be a favorite with many fans.

message 6308: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) They suck at organizing their books too, they have "contemporary classics" which is basically anything that they consider really good but is too new to be "classic" then they have fiction, mystery, romance, YA...all the regulars...but THEN they also have "series mystery", "series romance" and so on...

too many stinking categories! I have look like 5 places before I can be sure they don't have the book I'm looking for.

message 6309: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) hmmm...so maybe I should read GWTW, and then immediately read Scarlett...and then pretend they are all the same book :)

message 6310: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) oh heavens...I need to be sent to the crazy folks' home.

I just added GWTW, Scarlett, AND Rhett Butler's People to my list :P

message 6311: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) then I suppose I'll have to watch the 2 movies.

Then I'll wake up and wonder how its already 2010. LOL.

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments Good Morning Ladies, or afternoon..lol

looks like I missed out on a lot yesterday. I love all the eye candy. :~)

How is everyone today?

message 6313: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Hi Lisa :)

message 6314: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I'm at my desk. Hooray! (said sarcastically)

Allison-I read GWTW and it's just candy, along the lines of Twilight or other fluff. Quick, because it's addicting, but not a life changing story. Quick as you read, you should definitely give it a whorl.

message 6315: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments What is GWTW?

message 6316: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Gone With The Wind

Sorry, too lazy to type it out:)

message 6317: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) thanks for the advice, Kandice :) I'm gonna give it a shot.

I can't decide whether to read the GWTW books or start the Rome series first...augh. Too many big books. We'll see.

message 6318: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments ahh ok...thanks :~)

message 6319: by Kandice (new)

Kandice GWTW first. I really think, knowing you, if you start Rome, you will be in it for the long haul. (I am quietly rejoicing!!!!)

message 6320: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Did you read them all at once?

message 6321: by Esther (last edited Mar 10, 2009 10:15AM) (new)

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments I've just been surfing the web trying to find a place to stay this summer.
I've just fallen in love with one place but it's way out of my price range!

(edit to change Freudian slip - 'pout of my price range' to 'out of my price range' - though I am pouting with dissapointment :0(

message 6322: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I couldn't! Unfortunately, it was at the beginning of the series that I fell in love, so I had to wait for installments. In addition to having to wait, they weren't published in America as quickly as in Australia, so I paid a ridiculous amount for a few of them.

message 6323: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) I hate to ask this because I really don't need to know about anymore books, what is this Rome series you girls are talking about?

message 6324: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Jacke, the series starts with The First Man in Rome and they are highly recommended by Kandice. The author is Colleen McCullough, the author of the Thorn Birds.

That is all I know, basically. haha.

message 6325: by Kandice (new)

Kandice The First Man in Rome

That's the first, but it's an entire series, called the Masters of Rome. It starts about 80 B.C., I think, and goes through that damned Octavius. As you can tell, I HATE, HATE, HATE him!!!

message 6326: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Ahem, okay so I added it to my TBR list. cha :/

message 6327: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Hooray! I swear, Fiona you are turning ME into a book pusher. It's a pretty joyous feeling to knwo someone else may read your "baby", huh?

message 6328: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) You know who I like :D

message 6329: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Ha ha!!! That looked like you were a labor coach! Breathe!

message 6330: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Kathy - that story was HYSTERICAL!

LOL

message 6331: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Really Fiona, I agree. It is much less sexy to think about him whipping it out to pee.

message 6332: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Not the kitchen! Nasty!!!!

message 6333: by Kandice (new)

Kandice That's Michael Johns. Do you like him too? Can one of you techno literate people post a naked picture of Dr. Manhatten for me from Watchmen? Please? Pretty please, with sugar on top!

(cheetos too!)

message 6334: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) ROTFLMAO

Random Thought: Why do I always listen to one artist or song for about two or three weeks? And then I go on to someone else?

message 6337: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have seen that guy at Mardi Gras!!!!! He lives in New York, but he goes to Mardi Gras every year! He's kind of famous.

That's NOT what I was looking for. Billy Cruddup plays him in the movie. (Dr. Manhatten)

message 6338: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments I do the same thing Emma...

message 6339: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments So I'm not the only one? I'm going back and forth from Kate Nash to Jill Barber. I can listen to Mouthwash and Hardline over and over again and not get tired of it.

Hahaha Kandice! I remember on election day some CNN anchor asked him who he supported and he said Mccain. I guess that didn't help Mccain all that much. :P Hehhe.

message 6340: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I can pretty much wear a CD out and then discard it. Glad I'm not the only one.

message 6341: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments Yeah my kids and husband get tired of hearing the same song when they are in the car with me. It's kind of crazy I have to listen to it till I'm done with it or bored with it. LOL

message 6342: by Emma (last edited Mar 10, 2009 11:52AM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments *listens to Hardline*

Hahhaa, yeah, I'm a BIG Killers fan. I know all the words and adore every song. My father wanted to quit it a LONG time ago, but I'm still with them. We call the car the Killers car. Hhehe.

I'm very loyal when it comes to musical groups.

message 6343: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hahaha! I wish I could somehow put Hardline on repeat on my ipod...

message 6344: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) LOL. We just got one of those calls from a phony company saying they need to "update your business listing for the yellow pages." If any of you guys answer phones...you'll probably know what I'm talking about :P

The first thing that tips you off is the broken English spoken with a heavy accent.

We always tell them we can't give out info over the phone and they need to mail or fax it and they usually just hang up on us. TODAY...the lady fought back with the other receptionist! She kept saying "Unacceptable I need this information now!" It was HILARIOUS. We put her on speakerphone and as I laughed in the background, the other sec. just kept repeating "mail it to us and we will do it" "mail it to us and we will do it" and the other lady just kept interrupting! Finally she said "Forget you, I call back later and speak to someone that understand!"

LOL. I'm taking the next one, and I'm looking forward to it.

message 6345: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Hahahahah! That sounds hysterical!

message 6346: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments LOL that is funny Allison

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments my two dogs are all cuddled up next to me. I think I'm going to turn off the computer and the TV and go read Graceling.

Catch you ladies later. :~)

message 6350: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Bye Lisa! Have fun reading!

Hmm, who knows Fi? Maybe males just have musically short attention spans. Hehhe.
