Jackie (thenightowl) I actually have to pick up DOA from the library this afternoon. I think I'm going to continue right after. I'm really liking Voyager and always hestitate when I have to put it down. I'm surprised that after all this time I'm still interested in the story, which has a lot to do with DG's writing style.

Have you finished Voyager yet?

message 6102: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, why do people keep checking out OUR books?

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments Nice Eye candy though HC is still my favourite.

I'm wearing a joker's hat as I type - we are just about to leave for a Purim party.

We are having a spring heat wave so for the last two days we have had 30C temps. Midday today it suddenly got cold and cloudy, there was a half hour rain storm and then the sun came back and the temps returned to the 20s. At least is it cooler now.

Allison (inconceivably) ugh. What a boring morning.

message 6105: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I don't mean you guys are boring btw, I mean at work.

message 6106: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) although, since I brought it up...it certainly is quiet around here at the moment...

Emma it didn't interest me either but these bookpushers had me reading ti anyway. It wasn't to be crazy but it was good. A lot fo things made me laugh, then some action....

message 6112: by Kandice (new)

Kandice There is a Veggie Tales of the story of Esther, and it is great!

message 6113: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments aaaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhhh, why does something i am not good in and feels not clear to me makes me feel emotional, stressed and gives huge headaches. Our junior manager asked us to get the balance of our custoemrs....didn't know what he was talking about. My team leader explained but I understood wrong and had a feeliing that it wasn't clear to me. he wasthe whole afternoon in meeting, so I tried to do it like I thought we had to but ti didn't go very well. This evening he explains me but I still feel unsure and have many questions. But by then I had been stressing myself completely out and now have such a headache and don't feel too good.....pfff, it always goes like this, even if I try not to.

message 6114: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) aww Jeane :( You should go in the bathroom and kick something ;)

message 6115: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I have never watched Veggie Tales :(

I have like 2 CDs though, I love the music. I listen to it on the way home from work and sing like a nut.

message 6116: by Carol (new)

Carol (caroldias) Lunch time?? Timeline screws with me lol here I´m almost hungry AGAIN. It´s 4pm lol

message 6117: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I wish it was 4 here :( I'd only have an hour left...instead of THREE.

Of course, Rachel and Kandice have even more than that.

message 6118: by Carol (new)

Carol (caroldias) I have one hour left at work \o/

But then comes uni, and house things grr

Everybody here is "working" too?

message 6119: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yup...workin hard ;)

message 6120: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have only been here 2 hours, so I have 6 left and lunch is still a while away.

I have seen ALL the Veggie Tales. We listen to the music all the time. It is so funny and catchy, even if oyu aren't Christian, it's just so cute!

message 6121: by Carol (new)

Carol (caroldias) Yeah, I see that. Me too, working really hard.

It´s hard to hide the GR screen every single time the boss looks at me xD

message 6122: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Kandice, have you heard Chris Rice's Cartoon Song? Its is my favorite.

Not Veggie Tales obviously, just a cute song. Let me know if you haven't heard it...I'll find it on You Tube.

message 6123: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I haven't. I would like to. Thanks Allison!

I'm busy at work today, so don't feel ignored, anyone!

Allison (inconceivably) if only you had a handsome Howl to come and save you!

message 6130: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Fiona-Is that a witch from a book? Sounds a little like the baglady kind of thing at the end of Labyrinth.

message 6131: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) Kandice, its from Howl's Moving Castle.

message 6132: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I got Graceling and Howl's from the library trying to save money...

HEY! I was thinking about you. I read AGATB and Rebel Angels this weekend, now I'm about halfway through TSFT. They are very good :)

message 6140: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I decided that I'm craving mashed potatoes with sour cream and cheese. yuuuuuum. I'm going to make some for dinner.

message 6141: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments :D Wow Allison, you've finished them fast! You're farther in TSFT than I am! I'm trying to savour it. I don't want it to be over again. I'm going to try to finish it on March 14, the exact date I finished it last year.

Yeah Fi! I feel like icing sugar.

message 6142: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah, I really like them a lot. I don't want TSFT to end either. I'm reading it much slower than the others.

message 6143: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Me too. It's practically been a month since I started. Just like last year.

There are so many good words and such good writing. I love Gemma and the way she thinks. I'm only about 200 pages in. I'm taking each and every word in.

message 6144: by Esther (new)

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments Rachel wrote: "Good morning everybody!

Esther, are you Jewish?
"

Yes and also Israeli.
And that was a great summary of the story of Esther.

Allison wrote: "Esther is a cool story, and yes-a book in the Bible."
For us it is not actually part of the Bible - it is The Scroll of Esther - an additional story told at Purim.

Purim is a really fun festival even though it isn't a day off work.
Everyone is supposed to dress up - people wear costumes to work, to school and walking around town.
In the evening we go to synagogue, in costume, and read the story of Esther. Every the name of Haman, the villain of the story, is mentioned we drown his name out with noise - football rattles are the noise maker of choice but just about anything goes.
We eat triangular shaped pastries called Haman's ears (I made some delicious ones this year) and you are supposed to get so drunk you can't tell the difference between Mordecai & Haman or Good & Evil.

message 6145: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I think Purim sounds like a lovely festival/holiday!

message 6146: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I would have gotten the Vashti reference! That's a lovely name. What's her first name?

message 6147: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) That really is a pretty middle name.

message 6148: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I just met a lady that said "My name is Muriel, call me Lou", so hearing a pretty name is refreshing :)

...Muriel? Lou? Really? Very odd.

message 6149: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments It's an amaztastic middle name. I love it.

message 6150: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Ummmm... I just do not get that! Maybe as a kid she just hated Myriel, so chose to introduce herself as Lou?
