The BBC miniseries North and South.

I don't think The Historian will bore you, it is much faster paced and more current than Dracula...I would assume, I haven't read Dracula yet :P

Really? Try Sepulchre. i loved the switches she made in both her books. Why didn't you amnage to read on?
