Good grief you ladies sure know how to chatter!I had to skip a few pages as I don't think my painkillers would last long enough for me to read them all!
Rachel wrote: "I didn't. My migraine (which lasted a full week) prevented me from doing any grocery shopping this weekend. Instead I am thinking I might do them next Monday and have my husband make some vanilla..."Sorry about the migraine. I'm a fellow sufferer so understand that their is nothing lke the feeling your head is about to explode to ruin your weekend :0(
But you are lucky to have a hubby who makes Ice Cream.
My Dad's a chef and makes delicious praline Ice Cream.
Hubby on the other hand makes a good cup of coffee and has just about mastered the art of warming up a frozen pizza!
Kandice wrote: "Do you girls like Wu-Xia movies? I can't get enough of them!"I love them - my favourite type of movie.
When I first saw Crouching Tiger I was entranced. Then I got Hero and Flying Daggers on DVD and they broke my heart with both the beautiful story and the beautiful photography.
I have just recorded Curse of the Yellow Flower. I am so looking forward to watching it.
hahaha, I totally haven't read it before...I just recommend it all the time. :)I watched the BBC miniseries based on the book, and fell in love with the story....so NOW I'm reading the book.
Oh ok that makes sense. I remember you recommending it so I thought you had read the book. lol. That's funny. How did you like Confessions of a Shopaholic?
I'm back at work after a day and half off. It sucks. I don't feel like doing anything, but since it's the beginning of the month there are piles of paper everywhere.
ugh! Yeah, I need to take some time off. I'm sick of being here, haha.Confessions was a really funny movie, waaaay different from the book, but I still really liked it.
I thought it would be really different considering that they changed the setting. I love the series though. It's so funny. The only one I didn't like that much was the one where she finds out about her sister. The ending was too hokey.
yeah, I just love how hilarious the books are, its great. In the movie...Luke Brandon is her boss and the movie shows her getting hired at Successful Savings. Weird.
Did you guys read The Devil Wears Prada? They really changed that book too. I was surprised, but they made the movie much racier.
I love both the book and the movie. What's her face who played Miranda did a fantastic job with the character.
I know that we usually like the book better than the movie, but I was disapointed in the fact that they felt they had to do that. Until they changed it, I htought it was a great book, even for YA. If it had been written the way it was filmed, it wouldn't be.
Confessions of a Shopaholic didn't do that...I think Becky and Luke end up at a hotel at the end of the book, don't they? They just kiss at the end of the movie.
I don't remember the ending for Confessions. I read it so long ago.Has anyone read Blood and Chocolate? I saw the movie and it was decent, but when I looked at the description of the book it looks like a lot was changed.
I read the synopsis of the book, and it looked really good, but there are a few girls where I work that LOVED the book and were VERY unhappy about the movie.
Maybe it's better that I saw the movie first then. lol.How about Nanny Diaries? Anyone see the movie? I read the book and semi-enjoyed it. I haven't seen the movie and I'm not in a rush to see either. I hate bratty kids.
I thought it looked kinda funny, but I haven't read it or seen the movie. But, like you, I hate bratty kids...so it might annoy me so much I couldn't really enjoy it either.
I read the book and saw the movie. I really like Laura Linney who played the mom, but they changed the ending to be kind of...sacharin sweet. Stupid. It was completely unrealistic as far as he rest of the story went. It was good until the last 10 minutes.
Oh that sucks. I can't even watch Super Nanny without wanting to throw something at the TV. I want to slap both the parents and the kids. lol.
So do you think this thread could reach 8,000? It's kinda dead here today. Where's Ms. Fiona? Did she blowout her keyboard?
hmm...she did say she was going to return her laptop didn't she? or get a keyboard? something.I don't know if we can reach 8000 today...guess it depends what the afternoon brings.
Of course, I could have split this post into at least 4...oops. :)
Yes, everyday gets a little better. Thanks for asking. So ladies what should I read next, Graceling, Watership Down or Real Murders?
I HAVE met Mr. T :) 3 times now, in fact (I think). One of the first things that happened was him making the Hales' landlord change the horrid wallpaper, and that pretty much made me decide he is my favorite. The way Margaret treats him seems way worse in the book though, poor guy!
FIONA! aren't you the one that says no more books because you have like 200 something on your shelves to read? LOLSo, what book did you buy?
