Synopsis: Children jump off a cliff following their leader.
Genre: Fantasy/ I chose number 11
Word count: 501 words
The leader slowed his pace as the other children clambered up some nearby rocks. They were standing on a rocky patch of land and a raised cliff was just ahead of them. The salty sea breezes were blowing gently on the children’s faces, weaving amongst the tangles of their hair. The children looked, with innocent eyes, at the end of the cliff, where it seemed their final goal would be. The cliff was clearly high. Several feet beneath, a waterfall came to life, pouring gently water to the sea below. Water flew like crazy. Some drops just escaped the trajectory of its sisters and flew far away, disappearing in the morning sky. Other drops just dove straight into the sea disappearing seconds before reaching the surface in a haze of white dust. The leader started beating his drum and the relentless pounding was forcing its way into the minds of the children, seemingly intensifying their innocent look. They gazed upon the sea that offered his shored to the land, covering it with silky blue water. The waves just came crashing on the rocks. They freely threw themselves upon the shiny brilliant black rocks and crashed into millions of tiny drops of rain showering the nearby plants and flowers. The vegetation near the growing waters wasn’t restricted to small plants and tiny colorful flowers. Big bushes grew as well here and there surrounding the enormous, long trees and covering some deep ravines. But still, these tall majestic trees didn’t come near the cliff they were standing on. To the children the trees were like mushrooms growing alongside a tiny river, the bushes were mistaken with grass.
The leader had stopped beating his drum, but instead raised his hand. With shouts of joy, the children burst forward as one without any hesitation, towards the cliff’s edge, scuttling over the grass, and the small violets growing in a random way. The leader had no more need of his drum, and it was flung on the ground, unwanted. It crushed some of the violets and baby azaleas nearby. On and on ran the children, with seagulls gliding effortlessly over them. They wish they could fly as high as these gulls to watch the world from above. They wondered if the world would seem different if they had wings or sat on clouds. They guessed they would not know unless they did sit on clouds. Finally arriving at their goal, the leader and the rest of the children leapt off the cliff. It was like one of the slow-motion moment in movies. The gulls above just stopped their flow, and one of their squeaks resonated indefinitely in the skies. While downward water came to a stand-still and the sound of the rushing stream faded away. They swam upwards, floating magically in the air, smiles spread over their elated faces. The Earth’s curvature presented itself in front of them, white foam waves rolling gently onto the shores, trees that looking like grass and birds keeping them company.

Chapter 2
Soaring through the air I let my muscles have a rest. The thermal now holding me up was warm and Echuca looked beautiful below me in the dark. I was content, happy really, until I remembered why we were here. Sighing I look over at Gabe. The prick stuck his finger up at me and dived, pulling his wings in close he sliced through the air like an arrow. I was almost awed by him at that moment before I could remember I had wings too. I dove after him. My smaller lighter frame catching up with his giant bulk before long and I glanced over at him smirking. Then looked back at our target; dark shapes slinked through the darkness below. Still diving I was able to begin to make out the school itself. It was simple; no real need to take notice of just where we would land. There were at least five of those silhouettes below us, and we were going to land right in the middle of them. I chuckled to myself as we began to pull up. Gabe was never one for sneakiness. He was full on, guns blazing, Gabe. His sword was out along with my bow and arrows. I flared my wings, beating down with a force to keep myself stable; Gabriel kept dropping. For a brief moment I stopped beating and the demons below us looked up. I brought my elbow back and fired as I was falling. All three of the arrows in the bow hit true. A demon with iridescent green wings got one to a thigh, one with navy wings got one through the neck and another with wings the colour of baby poo got one to the upper arm. Gabe was in their midst now and all of them converged on him. I landed gracefully behind one of them; a dagger that was hidden up in my sleeve popped out and I slammed it into his heart. He fell to dust; which hadn’t even settled when another demon attacked. I drew my katana quickly and parried his short thrust. It didn’t stop him though. Cut after slice after cut, but I kept up. His broad sword must have weighed a ton but he manoeuvred it with an ease that was amazing even for one that was once an angel. There was weight behind each movement, a strength no human could ever come close to. But remember, I said human, and plus I was quicker. My beautiful katana darted through his guard more than once and drew blood; whereas his blade had barely even begun work on my defences. I saw Gabe out of the corner of my eye slice down another demon and scarcely beat away a different ones blade. While focusing on him I let the demon in front of me get through it pierced my right shoulder and made my hand spasm, which of course made me literally throw away my favoured weapon. I gritted my teeth against the pain and focused on the creature in front of me even more, more daggers slipping down into my hands. The demon glared at me from underneath his black fringe, his unnatural green eyes filled with hate. I smiled. Muscles tensed in his arms and his feet moved giving me enough time to guess where he would go and I jumped out of the way slashing at his right underarm and hitting a tendon. Unfortunately for me, it was he was a lefty. His arm though, now hung useless. No matter that my life was in danger it was fun. This was what I enjoyed; the thrill of the fight, the kiss of the blade, the clanging of metal. I knew I could beat just about anyone in the air, so, I took off. Backwards of course, there was no way I was baring my back to him. Not even a beat behind the guy flew up to meet me. I spun through the air so I ended up behind and above him. Using my body as a weapon I tucked my wings in tight and angled myself at him. Still coming to his senses at my fast movements I hit him in the back and through the shock of it lost his broad sword. It was almost in slow motion as it tumbled down to the ground the moonlight glinting off its edges, beautiful, and deadly. We were high now above the clouds, the beauty of the night didn’t affect me as much as that of the falling weapon, I know, I'm sadistic. A slender knife fell into his hand, long and narrow it seemed more like something to slit someone's throat with rather than this combat but I knew already never to underestimate weapons. I learnt that the hard way. I knew I had the upper hand here and I knew I would win as I flew at him. We danced, we danced to a piece of music not heard by many, it was the music of the battle. More delicate yet more passionate than any ballet could come close to, this dance was for our lives. Twirling around each other, darting in out, feinting. It was the longest fight I had ever been in. Sweat dripped into my eyes and we got lower. My opponent’s forehead had beads of sweat covering it too and his sword strikes were losing power, though mine were just as quick. I had him. A large opening showed up as he went for a lazy feint. I darted in but he parried just enough for it to miss the heart. The dagger, though small, was heavy enough and sharp enough to punch through bone and the demon yelled out as it went through his chest, his black blood spurted out and hit me, it was going to take years to get the smell out. We plummeted. About 15 feet from the ground I pushed and let go of him. With an almighty crunch the guy smashed into the ground and I swear it sent a shockwave out. I had flared my wings just before landing so I hit the ground a little bit softer I spose, well there wasn’t a crater where I landed anyway. I glanced at Gabe as I dove on the demon and there was a look of horror and something, anguish maybe on his face. Time slowed down as my dagger came down on the guy’s heart. But before it could pierce something slammed into my side, hard, so hard it knocked the wind out of me and made me hit the ground with a thump. I crawled onto my guts to see a demon standing over the top of the one I had floored. She pulled the dagger out of his chest and pulled him up. The demon had pure white wings, her face was so sweet and pure, such the perfect picture of an angel, at least for a human, until you got to the eyes. They were black and stormy with hatred and evil, this was an Arch demon, and I was about to die. She turned to look at me and pulled the guy up with ease. She had his broad sword in her hand and passed it to him along with my dagger which he placed in a pocket near his breast bone. A sly grin passed over his face as they both came over. They took their time and it was as if they didn’t remember I had a partner until the female was holding her knife over my heart. Strong hands gripped my shoulders and pulled me away from the blade. I was out of it. Dazed and confused I saw a pair of legs step in front of me. Loud angry voices echoed around.
“Don’t you dare come near her!” Gabe yelled. The demons chuckled.
“Or what? You’ll have a go at us? Just you? Look at her, she’s in shock, she can’t help. Go run, live, don’t die here defending this...” The female stopped talking as if she couldn’t find words bad enough to describe me and I think that’s what finally brought me out of my stupor. Gabe had saved me, I wasn’t going to let him die defending me, someone he hated. I jumped up surprising the lot of them. Gabe was holding my katana and I held out my hand for it. He placed it there almost reverently and I felt the familiar, comforting weight of it in my hands again. I smirked at the demons.
“Now. I think it could be a good idea if we evened the odds a bit don’t you, Gabe dear?” My voice was like we were out having a stroll discussing the weather, not about to fight. I was proud because I was shaking inside. Gabe smirked, chuckled and stepped into an offensive stance. One I copied, the pair in front of us lost their cocky stances and started to go onto the defensive; but the female cocked her head as if listening then nodded.
“Come on Chris let’s leave these losers. They won’t be any fun.” She turned and glanced over at her shoulder once before taking off with the other one, Chris. Now I know humans think we are all goody two shoes and would never use something like a gun or king hit someone but we aren’t. I drew my pistol that I had been keeping in a side pocket out. Levelled it and shot. It kicked back, and that icky black blood spurted from the Arch demon’s shoulder. She swore and dropped slightely but stayed up. I thought about emptying the entire load into her but I decided to fight her properly later. But I spose it would have been slightely less childish than what I did then, especially since she was just about to kill me before Gabe came to my rescue. Again.
“Yeah run home to your Mamma, you pussies!” My voice reached them easily and I saw a hand raise a finger. I laughed. Gabe shook his head and sighed.
((So? What do you think?))

The fire in the little cabin was shining bright. Romeo scattered red and purple flower petals over the bed. His brown hair was wet from his shower; the fire light glinted off his green eyes. His shirt was a black button up shirt, it had detail white lines. The shirt had 14 buttons they were see through with shimmery white tinge. He wore normal worn jeans. Dinner was cooking on the stove and the aroma filled the air, he walked over to stir the spaghetti sauce. His walk was soft as his feet hit the ground, left right left right, I laughed as he set up, acting as if I wasn't there. He smiled showing a row of perfect white teeth. "Want to be the first to taste?" His voice lulled in my ears sending shivers down my spine; I nodded my head and walked across the room. He stirred the sauce again with a wooden spoon, it had the words cookware carved in the side and it looked like the words were once painted red but had worn off. He lifted up the spoon to my lips; I was wearing red lip stick and a little rubbed off on the spoon, "Yum!" I said brightly. My blue eyes met his and I felt myself swirl and lock onto his heart, my cheeks burned and turned bright red. He snatched my hand and walked me to a small table set for two; we stepped down one step and walked across the cherry wood floor. We moved across the room it was like a waltz. Step, step, step. I bit my red bottom lip cracking a little dry skin. You laughed as I missed a step. It sounded like an ocean wave rolling in my ear drum. It rumbled, calling me up. We began again. Step, step, step. You twirled me around, my pink dress fanning out. You smiled at me showing your white teeth. They were white like a cloud on the warmest day. You pulled me up, our faces almost touching. We stood a moment slowly dancing our lips about to touch. I felt like I was in the eye of a hurricane, all was calm but around us the world was falling apart. But for that moment I was safe wrapped up in your arms. Your baby soft skin touched my arm sending little goose bumps down my spine. You leaned in and kissed me. I melted and gave my heart to him, letting him make the choice to drop it or not. If he did it’s a quest of love, and a search and find. My body warmed; it felt like chocolate when it melts in your mouth, making you drool. My nose rubbed up against his like grass blades tapping each other in the wind. We pulled apart breathing in that first breath after the first kiss. We both couldn’t help but smile and we intertwined our fingers, “I love you.” I whispered as we walked to the table. We took a seat and stared into each other’s eyes, the gate ways to our souls, as the fire flickered.

Title: The Lost Relic.
Description: Jonas, a mercenary, has been hired to take his companions to a lost temple in the middle of a rainforest.
Word count: approx. 650.
---
Jonas slashed at the curtain of hanging vines with rather more force than was necessary. The incessant chatter coming from his companions was not only irritating, but distracting. If it hadn’t been for the promise of gold upon their return to England, he would have slit their throats himself by now. He was still sorely tempted to do so. As it was, he refrained from any brash actions he may come to regret later. After almost two weeks in the jungle, he was sick of it all: sick of his companions, sick of the green and sick of this stupid quest. He couldn’t understand why they thought any Holy relic would be found in this armpit of the world but he didn’t question the money. He never questioned the money.
A large rock protruded from the ground before him, the deeply etched rivulets across its surface testament to many years exposure to the torrential rainstorms that frequently accosted the area. Jonas carefully picked his way around it, exaggerating his movements just enough that his companions would be made aware of its presence. A dull thud, followed by a string of colourful words that could have given any sailor a run for his money, told him that they had failed to interpret his movements. He sniggered to himself but didn’t turn around, didn’t stop.
Yet another curtain of yet more vines blocked his path, an intricate latticework of rubbery branches, green leaves and thorns the size of his hand. His sword made quick work of it, the once fierce wall now in tattered shreds at his feet. A spider emerged from the debris and attempted to scuttle into the undergrowth. Jonas brought his booted foot down on it before it could get far, repressing a shudder.
His heart fell as he realised that there would be no more advancing down this path he’d wrought. The vines had kept their secret well, but now that they were gone he found himself standing on a cliff edge. A scuffle sounded behind him as one of his companions came to stand next to him, one hand held up to shade his eyes as he surveyed the scene before him. The careless movements caused a number of the limp vine clippings to cascade down the rocky surface until they were lost to view, their outline merging with that of the sea of green below. It stretched as far as the eye could see. It seemed almost uniform from his position so far above it all, though common sense told him that in reality the trees would be from a host of different species, sporting leaves of a myriad of shapes and sizes. The faint sounds of the inhabitants of the green sea reached his ears, though he could perceive no movements from his perch. Whether it was the caw of a bird of the screech of a monkey, he couldn’t quite tell. Everything seemed to merge together; all as one, until somewhere far, far away, the sky reach down and caressed it.
He felt like a god, gazing down on his creation, and it was breath-taking.
A frenzy of excited chatter and mad gesticulating brought his attention back to his companions. They were pointing off to the right somewhere, their faces lit with accomplishment, their voices several octaves higher than usual. Out there in far distance, so small he almost couldn’t see it clearly, stood the peak of a temple, just poking from between the treetops. He hardly dared believe that it could be the temple they’d spoken of back in London, but from their excitement-gargled words, he took it to be the place they were seeking.
Well, he’d be damned. Apparently there could be a potential Holy relic out here in the armpit of the world. Now all he needed to do was get them to it.

The Magic of the Green Eyes
“Ilana, you know having green eyes is considered as an omen in Absten. How can you expect me to rule a kingdom when my own family didn’t accept me?”as Jade said this in an irritated tone, tears ran from her green eyes.
Ilana looked down. She didn’t know how to convince jade. Ilana was the princess of Absten. But she had recently resigned from her position as she had discovered that Jade was the real daughter of the Queen Laura and not her. Long time back having green eyes was taken as an ‘unlucky person’ in Absten.. Such a community was treated as slaves. Over the years, this had changed as the green eyed community had migrated from Absten to other countries where they were treated equally. But the Abstenians were anaware that a green eyed girl called Jade still lived in Absten. Jade lived with a person who she considered her mother and not with the Queen Laura. She hadn’t stepped out of her tiny house as far as she could remember. And today was the first day that she was meeting any outsider and that was Ilana.
Ilana was critical of superstitions. She wanted Jade to abolish the rule and rule Absten. But Jade knew that people will not accept her.
“I have a solution-”,as Ilana said this she looked into Jade’s greeny eyes.
“And what is that?”,asked Jade.
“You’ll maybe….maybe…I’m not forcing you to do this…but maybe…”
“Maybe maybe what?”,Jade was keen to know Ilana’s solution.
“Maybe die for that…”,Ilana said without making any eye contact with Jade.
“I’m already living my death. What are you going to benefit from my death?,Jade clenched her fists with anger.
Just then a handsome looking man with golden hair entered.Hs eyes met Ilana’s and he made his way towards her.His lips stretched into a crooked smile .He placed his hands around Ilana’s waist whereas hher hands moved throush his golden hair.In no time they were kissing each other totally avoiding Jade.
“Oh! We have been completely rude to Jade”,Ilana realized and was taken aback.
“Well, I’m Ryan I’m a courtier from the kingdom of Contantonesia”,the man spoke. As he mentioned ‘Constantonesia’,Jade gave a trembling look to Ilana.
“Jade, don’t give me that scarry look.I know Constantonesia is our enemy kingdom. But Ryan is here to help us.And well,we truly love each other.
“Don’t be so confused”,sais Ryan as he observed Jade and began to explain the solution.
“The King of Contantonesia, King Lucos wishes to marry Ilana and be the Queen of a kingdom which will be called as ‘Abstentonesia’ after merging Absten and Constantonesia..But to do this the Quen Laura will have to resign. Also if we don’t agree to this,Absten canbe defeated in the war between the two kingdoms. Also he has another wish-“,But Jade interrupted him.
“And you believe the Queen, the citizens herer are going to suppory you all?I don’t understand anything-“,Jade somhow felt uncomfortable in the company of these two strangers. She tried to walk away.
“Jade,”,Ryan stopped her.”Just listen-the king wants to kill you infront of people before marrying Ilana.”
Jade freezed. She was so confused and tensed that she didn’t want to think about anything at present.
“You mean,I have to ‘sacrifice my life for….for wat?For nothing?”,Jade sayed, her head was aching.
“Well, lets come to the point.”,Ryan began. “Ilana and I seeked into the Royal Library of absten to seek information about the ‘green-eyed community.”
“After searching day and night”,Ilana continued “We found out” she looked at Ryan , “that once in a centuary or more than that a person is born , a royal with green eyes who has a certain power in his/her eyes,a kind of magic.”
“Marcus Milton, born on 30th April 1890 A.D was the green-eyed King of Absten. And because of that magic type of thing, people accepted him…..I mean No One hated him.”
For Jade it was dream come true because this meant that she could br free to roam around and most importantly she could rule a kingdom!
“But what’s the magic or whatever you call it?And why did you mention about the king killing me?”
“King Lucos wants to marry Ilana and well,ah…kill you”,Ryan said.
As Jade heard ‘kill you’ her heart started beating fast.
“Kill you on 30th April,2011 on which you’ll be 21.According to that book, only on this day that the magic will work.”
“But what’s the magic?”,Jade asked impatiently
“Ah…Well,er are not aware of that. The book doesn’t state that”,Ryan explained sadly.
This lowered Jade’s confidence a bit. Jade didn’t know if to believe them and live a happy life of just be glad with what she had. After thinking for a lot of time, she decided to undertake challenge. She was curious to know ‘the magic’ and experience something which was kind of a romantic fairy-tale.
Finally it was the day when the magic would be proved;when jade was 21;when Ilana was to wed Lucos. Before doing the good thing, the wedding, the king decided to get over with Jade.he came to a place where not only many royals had assembled but also many country-men had gathered.the green-eyed girl had a black cloth covering her eyes.Jade was full of mixed emotions.Shew had no clue about what was going to happen.
The king holding his golden sword stood alongside Jade. The slaves entered and uncovered Jade’s eyes. The king was still staring at the crowd’s reaction and avoiding Jade. Most of the people were like-“Oh!She’s the one” or “Those green eyes!”
The King took a step or two before passing the sword through Jade’s body and then for the first time looked into Jade’s eyes. He stood still there just like a stone.
