Bigal-sa | 19 comments I'm busy looking at this book at the moment:
http://www.goodreads.com/search?query...

The author data on this version is totally incorrect (appears to come from ISBN data on Amazon): Jock of the Bushveld. The author is Percy Fitzpatrick and the illustrator is Edmund Caldwell. Can I fix the author here to be Percy Fitzpatrick and combine it with Jock of the Bushveld?

I will also fix and merge the versions with Sir Percy Fitzpatrick and James Percy Fitzpatrick as authors (the author was known by his second name).

I'm not sure what must be done about this one: Jock of the Bushveld as I can find no info about it, as it seems to be illustrated by the person given as the author.

I'd appreciate some feedback before I start making changes.

Abcdarian | 26579 comments The Percy & Caldwell should indeed be changed to have the correct author, with Edmund Caldwell added as illustrator. In order to keep the illustrator's name you should edit the book first before changing the author profile to just Percy Fitzpatrick.

The version adapted by Phillida Simons should credit her as adapter or adapted by, I think, as Fitzpatrick is still the original author. Perhaps someone else will weigh in on combining adaptations, since I'm not totally sure, but I think it would be combined, in which case Fitzpatrick's name would be moved to the top of the author list on that book first.

I added a bit of info to the Percy Fitzpatrick profile, from wikipedia. Feel free to change it or add to it if you have something better. :-)

Bigal-sa | 19 comments Thanks for your input. I will try to get permission to use this pic of Fitzpatrick from the archives at the University of Pretoria:

FWIW, on Amazon, Phillida Simons is given as the illustrator. The text that I can see from the "Look inside" is identical to Fitzpatrick's, so I will try to find out more about the good lady and why she should be claiming to be author (which google seems to think is the case).

I do hope someone else does chime in.
