Joanna, there is a difference of opinion on the pro’s of tagging, but if you think that there was a very popular blog that was dedicated to it and Amazon basically put a stop to it, then that makes me wonder why! So, it is my suspicion that tagging does matter! But liking great reviews is as, if not more, helpful! So I clicked yes on your reviews.

Here’s a link to the blog I mentioned on Amazon coming down on tagging and it also explains some of the benefits of tagging…
“So what can we conclude? It seems to me that Amazon has been embarrassed by some of the "tagging parties" that have gone on via its own forums. These have resulted in some self-published books getting literally hundreds of tags, not all of them strictly relevant to the title in question. This has pushed them above best-selling authors with traditional publishers for the tags concerned - thus skewing Amazon's own search results, and potentially resulting in reduced profits for the company when lesser-known titles pop up first in searches…”

Give your book some of the same tags to a best-selling one, and as long as the tags are specific enough to sound interesting, you will get a proportion of readers clicking on them to see related titles. Hey presto! Your own book will then appear.

What we can learn from the second article is this... go to the best selling books in your genre, that are similar to your own books. Copy their tags, use them for your book!
