I have a few that are at 2 years so just hang on. You can bump it periodically to ensure that new groups of people get to see your missing book.
You just did so. You can also just simply say 'bump' in your comment. All you're doing is moving the thread up in the list so people who didn't see your request originally have a chance to see it now. Like me. So, was this straight SF, or was it more horror, do you think? Do you have any idea when it might have been published - like, say, you read it around 1998 from the library so it was at least that old, or you bought it around 2003 so it may have been newish then? Was it meant for adults or could it have been YA/teens?
It sounds interesting to me - I hope someone recognizes it.
Thanks Cheryl, it was a little Sci-Fi, but honestly I don't think it was classified as Sci-Fi. It took place completely on Earth. It COULD have been a YA book... I think I read it before 1995. I must have borrowed it since I keep books I like that much. Not much help am I?
Coby, did the amusement park owners explain to the public how the spaceship got there? Did it crash land? What was the story about before the people entered the spaceship? Or, was the majority of the book about the adventures inside the ship?
This only partially matches your book, but I'll mention it in case you're interested - The Free Lunch by Spider Robinson.
One of the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits tv programs had this exact theme. People were at an amusement park and went into a ride that turned out to be a space ship.I remember this vividly but can't say where I saw it.
Do you think this might be what you are remembering?
The TV show was The Outer Limits. The episode was "Second Chance", first aired in March 1964. It was written by Lin Dane and Lou Morheim.(edit) Turns out Lin Dane was a pseudonym of Sonya Roberts, staff writer on the TV show Peyton Place.
Not an amusement park, but I immediately thought of this one.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
I know It's been 5 years since the first post but it sounds like the book could be The Asgard Run by Vance Steve. It has an ancient spaceship buried in Wyoming with people who get trapped inside after an earthquake.

And Kris for PMing me, I must have missed earlier email notifications from previous posters. Wow, 5 years and results! Goodreads community rocks!
After a closer search on the net, no mention of how they turned it into apart of an amusement park 'ride'. I guess I'll have to buy the book to find out if it is the one I'm searching for. Lots of 2 stars lol... Still going to find and reread it ;-)
Great, let us know. Here's a fairly lengthy preview -- https://books.google.com/books?id=Qop...

As a group of people go into the underground part of the attraction, the spaceship's intelligence wakes and senses alien lifeforce it sees as infestation or bugs (<- not sure about that part) and attempts to exterminate the pests. The group feels what they perceive as an earthquake, then the opening to the outside is blocked as a door slides shut trapping them inside the ship. The ship releases a gas and one of the people manage to open another door into the interior of the ship. Only a selection of humans make it through the door alive and they go on to explore the innards of the ship and find aliens aboard.
