Grrr. I'm going to be late. As soon as the book looked as though it might win (a long, long time ago) I put it on reserve at the library. I was # nearly 200 in the queue and I'm still at 40 something last I checked a couple days ago. But, I do plan to read it, hopefully in time to participate in May.Thanks, Bridgette, for leading the discussion, and thanks for everything, Angie and Tatiana too for what you do for the group.
I already read it, too at the beginning of the year. I thought it was nice, I enjoyed it but it's also a very quiet, calm book which I guess is not everybody's cup of tea.

The app is free for your computer or mobile device and it has been my favorite way to get titles as of late because the lines are much shorter since the books have a 7 day lending period. Plus, I LOVE the audio version of Matched!
I am going to read this book as soon as I am finished with the book I am currently reading. I can't wait!
I've already read this. I read it when I won a blog contest for an Advanced Reader's Copy, so I will have to participate with this discussion if I'm not reading it right now.
Thanks, everybody, but there are waits for ALL editions. I'm number 30 something now. Assuming I'll have it and can read it by the end of the month, but it will be closer to the end of the discussion than the beginning. I did put it on reserve "early" but not nearly as quickly as I put it on my to-read shelf. I'll join you when I can. I'm very eager to read the book.
I just started the book last night. You are right, Infinite Playlist, the book definitely has a calm, quiet feel. I am hoping that the action picks up. As a high school librarian, I feel like a struggling reader would have given up before reaching the first quarter of the book.
I'm a little late on joining the discussion. I read this book last month and really enjoyed it. From the start, I like Cassia's family. In particular, I found her relationships with her grandfather and brother to be very touching.
I really liked the relationship between Cassias parents. They seemed to love each other very much and have a strong bond.
My daughter-in-law leant me the book about a month before it was selected. I don't get notification of the selection polls any more so I didn't know it was one of the books being considered until it was selected.I was looking forward to reading it. I'm most of the way through now. I think it's a refreshing change from some of the books we've read here recently.
Like Amanda said, I really liked Cassia's family dynamics, especially her grandfather and little brother. I also thought the parents had fascinating jobs and wondered early on what Cassia's job would be.
Infinite Playlist wrote: "I really liked the relationship between Cassias parents. They seemed to love each other very much and have a strong bond."That's so true. Her parents relationship is strong and they actually love each other very much. I think this is a point of confusion for Cassia and maybe a reason why she fights for so long against her feelings for Ky. If her parents were matched by the society how can she second guess the matching system without second guessing her parents love, her family, her match with Xander... everything she knows?!?!
ughhhhh! I haven't been posting the last few days because my laptop crashed.. but now I am back. New hard drive and everything is back to new. I am half way through the book and enjoying it so far. I like dystopia books. They really make me think about how things could be in the future.
Angie wrote: "They really make me think about how things could be in the future."...and how to avoid making the same mistakes the designers of those civilizations made.
When I read a book about a dystopian society I try to see how that society extrapolates from our society and why that society came into existence - e.g. what faults in our society was that society trying to correct or avoid.
I read this in December and I first saw it months ago because I liked the cover and the plot sounded interesting. The dystopian society was an interesting concept and how civilizations can probably be in the future. Overall this books was really good and I cannot wait until Crossed which comes out in November!
I made it through the first fifty or so pages and wasn't engaged enough to continue. Just not feeling it. I loved Hunger Games and The Forest of Hands and Teeth, but maybe I'm getting tired of dystopian books. This one seemed too heavy on the family dynamics at the opening, and I didn't want to keep reading if the rest of the book's pacing was as slow. Lots of info-dumping turns me off quickly. Very disappointing.
Sorry that you could not get into it Sandi! I have felt that way about severL books myself, so I am glad that there are plenty out there to choose from :)
