How much are you able to read each week? I wish I had more time to read more and run. My goal is to read an hour a day on weekdays and 3 hours on sat and sun but I find that hard.

You are right, Genia! it depends on the week. During the spring break (instructors enjoy it as much as students do!!!!) I read three medium size novel. Otherwise i try to read 50 pages a day at least. But sometimes the book can be quite an engrossing read, that you sabotage all your duties and devour page after page:-)
Yes, it definitely depends on the book. Well do I remember the time when I had a philosophy exam on the morning but, drat it all, couldn't leave off of this new book I picked up...On an average week I'd say I read one or two books of a more or less standard length. On very busy weeks I may read half a book, even less. I do not set myself page goals per day, because it makes it too much like a chore. If there's a day on which I don't feel like reading, I don't - I know I tend to make it up elsewhere.
I'd say two (or three) a week - one during the week and one on the weekends. Depending on the week of course. The book tracker here is telling me that I've read 39 so far this year - so I guess that would break down to about 2.5 a week?
I listen to audio books all morning and read a book in the evening.Has been running about 20 books a month.
I am retired so this is my dream come true.
I read about an hour every day. On my days off, I read most of the day (minus time with the kiddos, household chores, etc. OOOF! That laundry can wait. I've gotta finish this chapter!).
I'm also retired so I'm able to read as often, where ever and whenever I like. I can even stay up all night finishing a book. But I do wish that I could find a part-time job. My budget for books is practically non-existant. :( I go to the library a lot.
I'm retired also, or semi-retired when I have a contract job to work on. I read every morning and every afternoon when I am not working, so I can get up to 20 books a month at that rate. I range from 5 to 20 a month, depending on the time I have available to read.
I, on the other hand, am a full-time student. But since I count as "Reading" the books I read for my coursework, my reading amounts even out a bit.
I work full-time so I don't get to read nearly as much as I would like. I do commute by bus (20-30 min ride each way) so I read while I ride. If I'm able to take a break at work that gives me about another hour; but the majority of my reading takes place at home. This can vary depending on what else I have going on each evening, but if I'm lucky I get another couple hours of reading in before bed.Weekends are usually another story entirely. I would prefer to spend my whole weekends doing little else besides reading, but life sometimes gets in the way.
Depends on my mood and if I have other things that interest me more at the moment. Mostly during the week I'm pretty tired when I get home but I try to read at least a chapter a day (mostly at bedtime), and if I'm spending the weekend at home, I usually read at least 100 pages a day.
If I read whenever I have the time, I can reach up to 3-4-5 books a week. However, I don't. I read very little(much less than I would like too), and have periods where I read nothing at all. Right now, however, I read every waking minute. I'm a student, so I read when I'm on the bus, and I read in the evenings.
I used to try to read 100 pages a day, but now I have a baby so have cut it down to about 50-60, but sometimes I can still get my 100 in, but like others have said it sorta depends on th ebook, sometimes the pages fly and sometimes they don't!

I try to do a book a week.

A round trip commute takes anywhere between 1hr and 1 1/2 hours, so usually I can get a good chunk of reading done then.
I'm always reading one or two books at a time. I try to get in at least 100 pages per day. If the book is really good, I might stay up late and read more. My books are always by my couch. Even when the TV is on, I'm still reading. I love to read as you can tell. I wish I were a faster reader.
Depends on work, I work in an operating theatre, which means doing shift work. On a normal shift I get to read at work for 1/2 an hour. If it's a late or night shift it depends on what work needs to be done and how urgently someone needs emergency surgery. I also have to do standbys which means staying at the hospital where I work in an on call room, there's no TV or radio so I take a book and hope I get to read for an hour before bed.I usually read about 10 books a week, but it depends on the size of the books.
I would consider myself a "plodding and steady" reader. Between M and F, I read on the subway (travelling to and from work), during lunch hour, and for an hour or two when I'm home. All told, this translates to reading 4-5 books a month on average. (As a teenager, I read more briskly, probably 8 to 10 books a month.)
Among the books I'm now reading are the following ---
Robert B. Asprey
Sally Bedell SmithBoth of these books are on the magnitude of 443 and 450 pages, respectively.
I work 12 hours a day, aprox.I have two baby born twins and one son who is almost 5 years old.
I'm about to finish my MBA.
I play chess half proffetionaly (? - is this how it speld?).
according to that I don't have much time to read.
but yet,
I read on the bus on my way to work and back home. I read another hour or two in the night or early in the morning. I read more on weekends.
My luck is that I read quite fast...
My reading depends on where i'm working. If I'm driving to a site or building survey then I have very little time but if i'm commuting to my office in University or the head office then i get a good bit of time every day for reading. This year I'm aiming to read three books per week but that all went a bit awry when I read The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox which is over 700 pages long and it took ages!
it depends on my mood.
i don't actually read just to finish something.
i read because i enjoy the story, and if i got bored or the book's not my taste, i stop and pick other book to read.

I read about 40-50 pages a day of whatever given novel I am reading. However, I am an avid magazine reader as well (National Geographic, Time, Vogue, whatever). I pretty much check books out of the library every week. I feel naked if I go somewhere and don't have some sort of reading material with me.
It's difficult to tell quite how much I read since I read in queues, walking to work, waiting at red lights, in the bath, before sleeping.. Reading in little spurts like this (along with say, a solid hour or so per day) means books get finished surprisingly quickly!I'd say on average I will read between 75 to 100 pages per day.
I have a Kindle, so I read at work during my lunch hour and then probably another 2 hours afterward. All in all, it averages to about 30 hours per week. I'm always reading something.
I have a Kindle as well and I'm loving it! I read before bed every evening, I read on the tram to work, I sometimes read at lunch break (though I only get 30mins) and I read about 2hrs at home Sat and Sun - though it is interspersed with chores etc. Can't wait until I have more time to read!
I also have a Kindle! And I just discovered free audiobooks on iTunes (those that are free on Kindle, such as the 100-year-old classics, that have been recited into audiobook are free at iTunes fyi). Since this major discovery, I have gotten a lot more reading accomplished.By the way, A Room With a View is an iTunes audiobook...if anyone is interested :)
I read 1-2 hours a day, usually at bedtime, as I work full-time and have two kids that take up most of the rest of the time.
I read for 20 minutes each way on my four-days-a-week public transit commute, and I listen to audiobooks on my once-a-week long (45 minutes) driving commute. And that's pretty much it. I have a toddler and a bunch of hobbies, so I rarely read much on weekends. But I get through things pretty quickly anyway. It's amazing what you can do in a 20 minute BART commute. :-)
I read around 25 books a month. But it depends on the amount of homework i get but i still manage to read 20 books at least...
I read in the morning - while I eat breakfast, ride the bus downtown, and then walk to work. That's about 45 minutes x 5 days = 3.75 hoursSometimes I read during my lunch break - probably 2 days a week - so that's 2 more hours.
I read during my walk and bus ride home - that's 30 minutes x 5 days = 2.5 hours.
I spend an hour or two reading about 1 evening per weekday, on the other weekday evenings I read for about 30 minutes. So that's 6 hours.
On the weekend days, if it's raining I spend 3 hours a day more or less. If it's sunny, I am probably hiking and will only read for 1 hour all weekend. So that's 1 to 6 hours.
Adding it up: I spend about 15-20 hours each week reading. Pretty good stats!
I read the New Yorker more or less cover to cover, so that eats up a decent amount of my reading time each week. I still manage to read 2-4 books per month along with all those New Yorkers.

Wow! I love how you squeeze in reading whereever you can! Those are good stats!! You are really busy too!! It is very encouraging! I was so afraid that after I had my daughter I would never have time to read ever again, but seeing how you do it, I know that if there's a will there's a way! You just gotta prioritize!! And I guess I'm not doing so bad, I got 8 read just this month!
I can read 2-3 books a week but if it is more then a fluff book I may like books from the list I take my time to savour the book and to try to look at it like I did on college. This slows process but always worth the time.
Discovered the read enabled on my kindle and tried it out, but it sounded too tinny and very american, bit like Stephen Hawkins computer voice, so I was a bit put off.
I try to read a book a week. I listen to books on my commute, I read at night before bed and when I have insomnia. I've read alot of good books when I can't sleep!
I read whenever waiting in line, I listen to audiobooks on my commute, I read when I get home before chores & then before going to sleep & then I put a chunk of time in over the weekend. Children, work & other obligations of course taking a bit of that time. And Goodreads! So it depends on what I'm reading-2-3 books a week of light stuff & much longer on more intensive works. I think I judge more by how much time I spend reading than the amount finished. Otherwise, I start feeling like a racehorse & don't want to run courses that will take too long-or require walking not running!
Mine depends on the day and my mood. Usually since I've been off school since the beginning of May I've been getting in 3-5 hours a day or more.
Hi all, I try to read most days, but as others have said it can depend on how my week is going and how much I'm enjoying the book. I can usually read for 30 mins - an hour each day though. If I'm really loving my book I'll get though it in 3-4 days, if it's a slow burner then it might take me up to 2 weeks. I've got 2 young children, a house to look after, a part time job, 2 voluntary commitments and various other things to fit in around my reading time!!
4 round trip commutes a week, 1.5 hours per round trip commute, total 6 hours. Plus some at home, while eating, etc.
Ah, I read much less... :-( I have exams right now, so I hardly have time to read 20 minutes a day, however, as soon as I have summer holidays I'll devote 2 hours every day to reading:-)
I probably average 5 books a week, especially since I got my i-phone and downloaded 5 reading apps. I read in line at the grocery store, in traffic etc. Plus a few hours or so at bedtime usually.
It so depends on what I'm reading. I read all the time-whenever I can, waiting on lines, etc. I listen to audiobooks when driving or cleaning. I can read mysteries quickly but dense writing or very long books take longer. I don't go so much by quantity as by what I want to read. If I really love the language, it can take me a lot longer. Poetry, for example, can be very short and take me more time to read than 3 cozies.
Try to read a minimum of 100 pages a day and my selections include classics, contemporary, YA books (to discuss with my grandchildren), fantasy and historical fiction/history. I have many books on my shelves that I have not posted because I haven't yet read them. Seem like as soon as I post them they are gone.
Lately, I’ve taken to reading books by chapter. That is to say, I try to read up to 2 chapters in a single sitting. Should the chapters be short ones and I’m not under any time constraints, I may read 3 to 4 chapters in a sitting. Notwithstanding that, as a general rule, I continue to read a book until I either come to the end of a paragraph, which signifies a transition to a different part of the story, OR I pause after a paragraph that marks the end of a conversation (or conversations) between characters.
