I just bought a book with a beautiful Indian woman ,whom happens to be a time traveler, on the cover. =D. It is titled into the wise dark. The author I thought I read was from India. But she could be American or English with Indian parents.
Just reading now she was born in India but came to Canada. Not American but right around the corner =D she now lives in ny
It's been difficult finding fantasy and sci fi books with Indian protagonists. But I feel in love with the cover and the fact the main character parminder is a time traveller.

sorry, I can;t help you here as SF is not my forte. I surely will be on the lookout of any such books in the Indian market and inform you as and when.

Guinevere wrote: "It's been difficult finding fantasy and sci fi books with Indian protagonists. Just the idea, I was toying with, wondering if there are people out there who we can help in writing their first novel. I am very keen on sharing my experience, thinking of either setting a blog or just discussing it on facebook.
Regards
Hemant, in the writer's corner folder of this group there is some info put out for aspiring writers - i agree it's not easy to find, but i guess it'll help u a bit if u go through the experiences (written by other authors) and dig-out those 1-2 links that help other newbie authors like you.
Hi Smitha can u create a thread which can enable a forum for sharing of hard bound editions between members....something like whenever somebody places a request for a book people who have the book can reply...with a quote or just in goodwill to share their books....
I vaguely remember a similar thread existing, but I will ask the moderators and create one if needed.
Hi people. I am here mostly because of the dwindling reading habits here in my college. I was afraid that i might get stuck in the rut, reading pun titled books like my fellow students. So, i came out here in search of a more mature company.
hello everyone,
this is my first group on goodreads. I wanted to listen to some sound minds and be a part in their discussion and i hope i will get that here. Also joining this group would help me suggest books.

I joined Goodreads and this group for a couple of reasons:1. I spend a lot of time online and it has messed my brain up, so that I only read articles on the web. I have lost the habit of watching full movies or reading books - print or ebook. When I was younger I would never leave a book uncompleted; and I would always read anything printed including on paper bags.
I have a feeling I have permanently lost the ability to read books and it scares me. My family and me are proud of our reading abilities - my mom still completes two to three books a week.
2) I am also an aspiring writer (an English book is coming out soon; I have also published short stories in Tamil). If I do not read, I am pretty much finished if I want to be a writer of any quality.
So, really, I am hoping such groups kickstart me, and motivate me.
There is, of course the possibility that I will spend more time online in this group and end up talking about reading than actually reading....

I used to visit AbsoluteWrite's forums obsessively while writing, an year back, and soon realized I was spending more time "exploring the plumbing of writing" than actually doing the hard part. I don't go there much anymore. But it is a great companion when you are waiting for a response etc.
I came here looking for book recommendations - Indian authors, books located in India or about India. But having found this group and lurked here for the past day or so, I get the feeling this will be a great place to make friends and chat.
I am a newbie and I like the idea that all round the world (well mostly) people have the opportunity to read books that I have read too.I was drawn to this site because one of my Goodread's friend's friend belongs to this site and I followed the link and found readers discussing whether or not Wessex was a real place (from a Thomas Hardy book). It is a former kingdom within southern England dating back to Saxon times around 600 A.D. Thomas Hardy had used a name that had fallen out of use. I have done the same in my books.
I was fascinated by the way books that I have read and loved were being discussed half a world away! This is surely more than Thomas Hardy could ever have dreamed of.
It is too early for me to offer any ideas on improving the group but I like the idea that you have asked!
Smitha wrote: "thank you, Anna. Yes, most of us here are Armchair travelers."I like that term! Google Earth even enables us to take a peek at the places we read about.
I expect to find intelligent and hospitable friends who can give me fresh and deep insights on books i've read so far and recommend to me books that i might find interesting and intellectually and/or emotionally satisfying
Hi All..Happy to see such a group.. What i expect from this Group - Suggestions on books that are Indian & Practical, when it comes to self-help, business or economics...For all other categories, I'm open. Hope gems here will be able to help and suggest with my requests.
Hi, I'm Shreyonti. I'm an architecture student in Kolkata. I really love reading and writing. The reason I joined this group is because I've writted a story called 'Unsent Letters'. It's set in India, so I wanted some Indian readers to take a look at it. Basically, I'm looking for Indian Beta Readers. Hopefully, I'll find some here.Besides, it's always good to find fellow Indian book lovers.
Hi, I am Janaki, an author, who rejoices in fiction, revels in fantasy and loves to tell a tale. I write for both adults and children, but I find I am veering towards children's fiction, although I do dabble in short stories for adults. I hope to make a choice, sometime soon. I have been a lurking member for sometime, but not been active, I was busy writing and promoting my books, but I hope to participate in active discussions from now on.
Hi, I'm Tracey, I hope receive good recommendations to add to the list of books I want to read and meet interesting people.
