message 27604: by MaryBeth (new)

MaryBeth | 5 comments I just finished reading The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty and as much as I love a good dom/sub romance this wasn't for me. I thought I had read it all but I was wrong, so wrong! I am the type of person that once I start a series I have to finish it, I have to see it through all the way to the end even if it's not exactly my cup of tea. This book took dom/sub relationships above and beyond anything I've ever read before but then again I have to consider the source, this was the woman responsible for Interview with a Vampire. I'm not one to talk badly about any book there are redeeming qualities to any book I think but this went beyond what I could handle for my taste anyway.

I just finished a novel called : "The Pursuit of Cool" by Robb Skidmore. I really got caught up in it and enjoyed it. The characters were really funny and engaging. It is set at this college during the 1980s and there is a lot of pop culture in it. This guy is a really talented writer and it's his first novel.

You guys should check it out.

Aaron Thibeault (thebookreporter) | 76 comments Just finished reading David K. Randall's new book called 'Dreamland: Adventures in the Strange Science of Sleep'. It was superb. The book takes a look at the science behind pretty well every facet of sleep you can think of from sleep deprivation, to natural sleep patterns (and how it changes over the course of a lifetime), to putting your kids to bed, to dreaming, to sleepwalking (and the bizarre phenomenon of committing crime while sleepwalking), to insomnia, to just plain getting a better night's sleep. Fascinating stuff. I've written an executive summary of the book available at newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com

Cheers,
Aaron
