Kristin (kgansor) | 310 comments I'm reading, and a few pages way from being done with, 50 Shades of Grey. I know I've seen pretty much everyone on here hates it, and I can see everyones points about it, and I have been putting off reading it but I am actually liking it, it's been a very fast read for me, I think it's because Ana is a mix between me and my best friend so I can relate to her in a way. *shrugs*
Of course, I will have to get the other two just so I can finish the series -_-

Kristin, I didn't hate it but it was just an ok read for me. My daughter surprised me today because she HATED it and wasn't going to finish it. She did finish and is now reading the 2nd book. I had to laugh. I will read the 2nd one soon.

LOL I am that way sometimes I will swear up and down that I don't or wont like something then end up either really liking or loving it.
The book ends in such a way that, obviously you know what is going to happen, but you NEED to read the second book just to see HOW it happens. I started the second book today and I am liking (at least so far) the changes in Christian and their relationship.

Desperately waiting to finish it and start reading something light on the mind and sensible too. Any suggestions from readers?

Next is a book about Kerouac, a book by Bukowski and then, finally, Little Bee by Chris Cleeve. Words. Are. Everywhere. :)

I read it looong ago, when John Fowles was a big deal. I'm glad to see someone is still reading him. For TRULY weird John Fowles, you'd have to read "The Magus."

I ended up giving No Angel 3 stars though it teetered between 3 and 4 stars. I thought it was an entertaining family saga and easy reading.I just don't know how lasting of an impression it'll make on me, if that makes sense. I am reading the second in the series though so proof that I was interested in what happens to the characters. A coworker had recommended it to me and she loved the book.

message 27498: by Betsy (last edited Jul 17, 2012 07:29AM) (new)

Betsy (mistymtladi) | 511 comments That makes perfect sense to me. I've re-worked my star ratings after an edifying thread. Here's how my rating system now goes;
5 stars - a book I will re-read cover to cover,one that could or should go on a list of 100 best **** If I lend the book out and it doesn't return, I'll replace it. It comes with me when I move.
4 stars - a book that I will re-read bits and pieces of,and will come with me when I move. I may re-place it,if it doesn't return when lended.
3 stars - a book I like due to the subject matter or the style,but will only reccommend to people who like the subject matter or the author. If it doesn't return,I figure its' gone to a better home.

It's only after you've let a book sit a while,that you know what its' worth.
