Now I'm interrupting my regular reading with Finger Lickin' Fifteen (trying to get caught up with yet another series) which I have trouble putting down. Really needed a good dose of Ms Plum.

Gretchen,
My suggestions would be
Gone With the Wind
The Green Mile
The Pillars of the Earth
The Shadow of the Wind
 Nicole,
Nicole, Thanks for the suggestions. I've read them all except for The Shadow of the Wind which I have now requested from the library. It might be time to revisit Gone With the Wind. World Without End is also a great, epic rollicking read.

There were so many great historical tidbits in the story, that it made it satisfying on that level, but the two main stories were tangential at best and I was disappointed.
I just finished Endless Love, by far one of the best novels I read all year. I love how authentic the characters were and how the author beautifully told the story of a young man's love for a woman. Highly recommend it to all of you:)

Started Evanovichs' Ten Big Ones. I'm finding the humor annoying, but I understand that alot of other people think its'great. So I'll perserve for a little longer anyhow.

I am reading Lost in Shangri-la, an amazing book.
I am reading Lost in Shangri-la, an amazing book. I admit, I am a huge fan of survival stories, strong and determined charcters, WWII episodes and general non-fiction, and this book has a little bit of everything. I can't wait to see how it develops.

If you decide to continue the series then I suggest you start with the first book One For The Money and read them in order. Altho, I have to admit, sometimes there is very little charactor development from one book to the next but you would get a better feel for the series with the earlier books.
Hope you decide to continue reading this one.
I finished Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris this afternoon and now I'm reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch.

Welcome, Gretchen. I would recommend
The Autobiography of Henry VIII: With Notes by His Fool, Will Somers and/or The Memoirs Of Cleopatra, both by Margaret George, if you like historical fiction.

. I started out with a bit of skepticism since I am not necessarily a fan of books taking place in India. Was I wrong. This is really a great read with lots of history the way I like it. You know you are enjoying a book when you set a goal to read for just an hour and you look up and two hours have passed.

Just finished reading the blockbuster 'Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking' by Susan Cain. The book explores the psychology of the introvert, and makes the case that introversion has plenty of benefits and advantages--despite the fact that our society has a deeply entrenched bias towards extroversion (which often makes introverts feel like second-class citizens--if not outright defective or diseased). I've written an executive-style summary of the book at newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com

I just recently finished The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, which quickly became my favorite read of the year. I am not sure why I didn't read it years ago since the copy I had is the same copy I have had all this time. I am now reading More Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin.
