I finished
by Robertson Davies today and started
by K. Stephenswhich was listed for April read.
Hi, newbie here.I finished The Goodbye Quilt yesterday. I saw it being advertised here on goodreads. It is an easy read and I think any mother and daughter can relate to and enjoy it.
I started The Ghost Trap today.
Hope to see you on the discussion board for Ghost Trap.
Welcome Sara!I just finished "Lincoln, an illustrated biography" which I very much enjoyed and am starting another NF called "Mindset". Will have to look for the author of this one later. : )

Eden wrote: "I'm currently reading Maya Angelou: Poems."Hi Eden! I don't have any of Maya Angelou's books but she is definitely wonderful. Her poem, Still I Rise, is one of my favorites.
I finished Blood Harvest yesterday and although it was interesting and I didn't guess who did it, I absolutely hated the way it ended. If I would have known I'm not sure I would have read it.
Dara wrote: "Just finished

I did end up finishing the pie book... Looking back, I believe I can spot a few of the major reasons it didn't work for me. I didn't find the narrator particularly engaging... I found her annoying and unbelievable at times, and some of the topics she was most interested in (i.e. chemistry) are not things I am much interested in, so the detail spent on them was a bore (just to me personally).
I also found the mystery itself to be a bit slow to start... it just didn't grab me the way I want mysteries to (and they usually do, even very poorly written ones!). I rarely abandon books, so I did finish it, but I would not particularly recommend it.
I'm sure others feel differently, though... so maybe amble over the the group discussion to get a better idea of whether it would be right for you!
I just finished The Pillars of the Earth which I adored. Hands down one of my favorite books that I've ever read. Loved it! Now I'm starting The Insider which I won through the First Reads giveaways. Looking forward to it.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for this! I appreciate it.
All best,
SR
Just finished “The Lonely Polygamist” (Best book I’ve read this year) and will start “Never Let Me Go” tomorrow.
I finished The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood and started I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith.
I'm just about to begin The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. I'm also reading The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom, The Gollywhopper Games by Jody Feldman and Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder Book 1 by Jo Nesbø with my 10 year old son.
I am currently reading Shantaram and really enjoying it so far. It is a very long book however, and I still have much more to go yet.
Lisa wrote: "I am currently reading Shantaram and really enjoying it so far. Hope you enjoy it. :)
I re-read The Vintner's Luck by Elizabeth Knox, New Zealand writer. I wish she would do a sequel because I love that angel, Xas!
I just finished The Girl in the Picture by Denise Chong and am now reading The Waterproof Bible by Andrew Kaufman. I loved The Girl in the Picture, it made me think about and question a lot of things. The book I`m reading now is very exciting, unpredictable and original.

Spin

The Sun Also Rises
.
This weekend I have been reading The Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels - A Love Story. I am finding it to be very entertaining.

i finished The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie last night, and i really liked it. today i started 29 Gifts for my library book group/One Book, One Community. i'm not big on this type of book, but it's started out ok, so hopefully it won't lose me or become to sappy/preachy/do-goody.

I wanted to introduce myself and say hello.
I'm stuck in the past, I think, because I'm currently reading "The Girl with the Dragon ..."
when it comes to books, it is almost impossible to be stuck in the past. there is just so much good stuff to read and re-read. I have yet to read the millenium trilogy, i started one three times but never got to finish it. I have watched two of the movies though and loved them. I mean to read them someday though.
The great part of goodreads is there is alwasy someone who can talk to you about whatever you are reading.
Yesterday I finished The Insider, which was pretty good. Today I started A Million Little Pieces and it's really interesting so far.
Emilly wrote: "i am currently reading "THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES"BY SUE MONK KIDD"I loved that one, hope you enjoy it too.
I just finished Hood I liked it. I thought it was a really good version of Robin Hood and a fun read. I'm currently still continuing with The Wise Man's Fear
I finished I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith which I definitely liked. Now I'm moving onto Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri.
I tried reading TC Boyle's "The Women", about Frank Lloyd Wright, but I just couldn't get into it. It assumed too often that you knew who obscure people and events were in the time period. And FLW comes off as an egomaniacal jerk. So I'm going to try either Roses or Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart: A Novel.

Flora, if you enjoy a little different take on the Robin Hood story, you might like the BBC's recent TV series "Robin Hood". It was pretty fun.

Tho I had nothing to w..."How do the Dexter books compare to the show in terms of characters? I love the show because of the personalities on it.
Finished "I'll Walk Alone" by Mary Higgins Clark yesterday. I thought I knew what was going on but was in for a surprise. Now onto "Miles to Go" by Richard Paul Evans (sequel to "The Walk"). It pulls you right in.

Would love to be able to watch that sometime.
I'm currently about 1/4 of the way into The Wise Man's Fear and so far I like it as well as the first in this series. I've also just started The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and finding it really interesting.
Currently reading The King's Speech and Wench...enjoying both...talk about a cultural gap -- the distance between those two is vast. Also started The Bones of Avalon -- Just finished and loved Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen and Little Bee, and two audio books by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes...Mother Night and Dangerous Old WomenAh, books are so wonderful...the only thing better than a good book is a good book on my kindle!
I just started reading The Garden Spells today, I am enjoying it so far so that's good. I just finished Betty White Here I am again and it was great.
Finished Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld yesterday and began the next book, Behemoth today. I'm also reading Ghost Trap and one of Kevin J Anderson's books, too. :o)

The Shining
.

i started The Woman in White today at lunch. i didn't get far, but i can tell it's going to take a bit to get into. at least that's my first impression.
