Alisha, I loved that book! L.O.V.E.D. How far along are you? It was great how just about the time you thought you were going to learn a piece of the puzzle, she only deepened the mysteries.

I loved High Fidelity. Love just about everything Hornby has written. I'm deep into David Grossman's To the End of the Land now. Very moving.

message 23356: by Flora (new)

Flora Smith (bookwormflo) I'm 3/4 of the way thru The Moonstone and it seems like there would be an easier way to solve this mystery than they way they are going about it. Its like the obvious answer is being overlooked.

I am also close to finishing The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon and I have found this to be a very interesting read.

I'm reading it on my Kindle and it says that I'm 30% in. So, not too far in, but far in enough to be certain that I'm going to enjoy the twists and turns.

Emily (The Litertarian) (emmaleighbug) I'm rereading A Farewell to Arms, which is feeling like a comfort book. I'm only about 30 pages in, but I'm falling in love with the characters and the descriptions! Hemingway, love.

Now that you mention it, it does remind me alot of Scooby Doo. I just finished this one and I thought it would never end actually. The same info being told over and over. Dont get me wrong, I liked it ok. But not as good as The Woman in White

Scott | 257 comments I just finished The Templar Legacy.

I was going to read 20th Century Ghost but I am getting an error message and my Nook won't open the library book. I'll have to fix this when I get home.

I guess I will start The Drawing of the Three instead.

message 23375: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 212 comments Stephanie and Erika, the sweet far thing was my least favorite of the series. I was so disappointed with the ending that I stopped recommending the series. But, I'm one of those people that no matter how good the book is if I don't like the ending it completely ruins everything for me. Just wanted to give you a heads up that you might not like what happens, but I hope you still read it and hopefully you'll enjoy it more than I did!

Kristi (kristicasey) I just finished Maybe This Time, and wanted to start The Children's Book, but with the family home with me for 4 days I don't think it's a good idea.

I've read a lot about how detailed it is, how hard to keep track of characters, etc. I figure I'll save it for next week when they're all back to school.

So I'm starting Twenties Girl instead.

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments I've just finished The Sisters Mallone: Una Storia di Famiglia. I really enjoyed it.
it is the story of three Italian sisters and their grandma in 1950s New York with flashbacks to 1920-30 showing them as they grew up. Incredibly evocative of the Italian community in New York.

Petra Clara, what are you currently reading?

message 23395: by Sasha (last edited Nov 25, 2010 10:30AM) (new)

Sasha I always forget to update what I'm reading here. I'm currently two-timing: The House of Doctor Dee, a hybrid ghost story / biography of Queen Elizabeth's court magician John Dee that is terrible, and Milton's Paradise Lost, which I don't know why everyone's so intimidated by; it's awesome, except when Adam and Eve are blathering to each other. "Ooh, you're so pretty! What's with the apple?" Blah blah blah, get back to Satan.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 1736 comments Adam and Eve are dead dull, aren't they?

They had better cast Satan well for that movie, is all.

Alex, did you hear that Daniel Day-Lewis is playing Abraham Lincoln in Spielberg's movie version of the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln? I haven't read it yet, but my dad really enjoyed it. I'm interested to see his take on Lincoln.

Oh, and Meryl would ROCK as Satan!
