I loved the Godfather, but it was a long time ago when I read it but I know it took me longer than 3 days.

Is her writing always like this I wondered? And if so how on earth has she made so much money and been so successful? (Of course I wonder the same thing about James Patterson). She writes as if she were a freshman English student writing her first story or a foreigner who had learned all her English fluency through textbooks. The words are stilted, the sentences lack flow and not once in a reasonably large book did she manage to create a visual image for me. Every sentence was carefully placed as if it was staging for some momentous event until you realized that EVERY sentence was carefully placed and there was no foreshadowing intention. Yikes. I don't recommend it. Will move on to more mediocre fiction Summer Knight before delving into something more demanding.

Devin- thank you for the book suggestions! I'm glad to see that you liked The Poisonwood Bible, it's one of my favorites! I feel that I can trust your recommendations now : )

So today I will be starting Path Of The Assassin by Brad Thor. It's a espionage story which I typically enjoy.

Oh I LOVED that book! Beautifully written and it stays with you.

i have Pillars of the Earth which i can't wait to read up next. i don't know that i'll be able to concentrate on it though, so i may need to hold off until after my race this weekend to start it. maybe i'll pick up a re-read to get me through lunch hours the next 2 days.

Donna, what did you think of Noah's Compass? I have it on my TBR list and had picked it up at the library but had to return it before I could get to it.

Donna, i just finished a reread of Forever. Love to hear what you think when you're done.

I never read Judy Blume and everyone insists so this is the first one I was recommended!

That is one of my all time favorites.

I thought it was a really good "first love" story.

I just started South of Broad. I kinda have cabin fever, as I haven't been anywhere fun since Christmas. So I thought it would be nice to read a book that really ties into a location. I've been to Charleston twice, so I'm familiar with the layout and landmarks. Reading this is kind of like taking a much needed trip, even if it's only in my mind.

It is pumped up and full of adrenaline and
starts with a high pace that never lets up for
a second. Slight quibble in one place the grammar
lets the author down a little. But as I have enjoyed
what I have read so far I am willing to let that pass.

Now I am going to jump right into Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde. :) Once I finish that I will probably read One Hundred Years of Solitude!

Let us know what you think of Lost in a Good Book. I was a bit put off by the Eyre Affair, but if the sequel is better, I may give it a shot.

Monef- I will let you know what I think-- I enjoyed the Erye Affair- and have heard from several people that the series gets better with each book.

Oh good! I am about a hundred pages into this now...

Ohhhhhhh..... you are ahead of me!!! I'm on #5, will hopefully start it next week
