Marie-vicky (grimace) | 49 comments I'm currently reading A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick.I can not say that much about it.I'm only at Chapter 4. Strong opening and really enigmatic. I'm really looking forward to see what happen next.

Chantelle (chantelle13) | 90 comments I can't read Jodi Picoult. Makes me too sad.

message 18253: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) | 358 comments I've been struggling lately---just haven't hit on a book that really sucks me in. I've abandoned Sarum, read High On Arrival (actually that did suck me in, but was over too quickly) and am now plodding through Speaks the Nightbird, which is good but sort of slow, and too easy to put down. I long for a book that will completely engross me! Luckily I have a ginormous TBR pile...

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) | 715 comments Last night I finished 3 Willows: The Sisterhood Grows by Ann Brashares and I loved it. I thought it was a real sweet YA story. Now I'm reading Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. I'm only in the prologue, but so far it's interesting.

I wouldn't think at all about that book as chick book!:-)

What a great combo. I loved both books. Enjoy!"

It was by coincidence Linda but they really matched perfectly. I finished People of the Book in the weekend and i love it. It is really so good and fresh, interesting. Still reading The Book Thief which has a very original approach to nazism, WW's, Hitler.....and I am still very curious about what the story will be and how it will go becasue I forgot what the summary said and now I don't want to know because it makes the book even better!

I thought this would be very interesting and in the beginning it was. But after a bit it kept repeating and going on and on....

Carol Hey Jenny go on over to the newbies corner and introduce yourself. . You will get a warm welcome. Welcome and enjoy yourself.

message 18262: by Sasha (new)

Sasha Jeane, sometimes I think my wife puts too much thought into whether books are chick books or boy books. She also refuses to like The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay because she says it's a boy book. *shrug* She's so sexist.

Also, re. Dante's Inferno: yeah, I heard the game doesn't follow the book at all. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good game could be made that did follow the book.

message 18263: by Carol (last edited Mar 02, 2010 02:07PM) (new)

That's funny Bhumi because I have never seen the movie, although I heard that it is good! I loved the book the first time around so I am interested to see if it is still a five star read for me.

message 18278: by Clare (new)

Clare Still making my way through Inferno but also picked up Magician just to balance things out. Melissa let us know how you go with Villette, it was part of my reading for a class but we only got a week to read it and I didn't finish it in time. I'd be interested to know whether it's work picking up again.

Even though the movie was a bit different than the book, I really enjoyed it and thought that Chris Columbus did a good job. I hope they plan to make Sea of Monsters into a movie.

Wow... 99 posts in only two days? So many interesting books being read by everyone.

As for me and my two cents - I just finished "Beat the Reaper" today and was kinda underwhelmed by it. Dont get me wrong, it was a great little book, just didnt seem to live up to the hype that was surrounding it. If anyone is interested, my review is here: http://thenextbestbookblog.blogspot.c...

I am now starting Kelly Lydicks experimental fiction novel called Mastering the Dream

Any suggestions? Anyone read this one?

That was so psychologically intriguing (that's the only way I can describe it!), that it makes everything else seem so DULL. I picked up Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis- hopefully that can pull me in.

message 18299: by Jayme (new)
