What are you reading?

Split Infinity -- Dean Koontz (taking my time... it's okay but not great)
Friends and Lovers -- Eric Jerome Dickey (pretty good so far)
I am listening to:
Jane Eyre -- Charlotte Bronte (very good... so much better than I was expecting!)

I want to read this so bad - it's been all over the internet, so I think it's calling to me LOL

This book has humor and humbleness.

I loved "The Bridges of Madison County". Glad to see you're enjoying it.

I have noticed, however, that most people do NOT share my opinion. ;) So, if you really enjoyed Ender's Game, I recommend trying Ender in Exile (which is the newest, but also the direct sequel to Ender's Game) and the Ender's Shadow books. These ones have a more "Ender's Game"-feel to them.
Just my $0.02. :)

Still working on A Tale of Two Cities and also opened Odd Thomas. I've heard some good things about it here so thought I'd give it a go.

Thanks Amanda, I'll give them a try soon.

Odd Thomas is a little quirky but I liked it. I have the next one to get to soon I hope!

I am type of a person that reads more than one book at a time. currently I am reading:
Vampire a Go Go
Her Fearful Symmetry
the Lost Symbol

I like Ender's Game. Been meaning to check out more books in the Ender series. Even more for the endless TBR shelf! :)

Street of a Thousand Blossoms is on my challenge list for 2009. I should really get to it soon before I run out of 2009!

I haven't read any of Bohjalian's other books.....any recommendations?

My copy of Stephen King's Under the Dome A Novel finally came in to the library yesterday, so I'll be picking that up on my lunch today. Everything will probably go to the back burner while I'm reading King, but we also have a very sick dog in the house at the moment also, so maybe I won't be able to get too distracted by this behemoth of a book. :(

I am now starting The Secret History by Donna Tartt.

Donna, is that Tom Epperson's book? I really loved that one. It's going to be a movie.
I've just started The Gates by John Connolly. Oddly enough the writing style so far is similar to Terry Pratchett. Luckily, I like Pratchett.

Amanda / rytr_1: i'm new to the group - hope you don't mind me jumping right into the middle of your conversation, but when i saw it was about Ender, i couldn't help myself. Ender's Game is one of my favorite sci fi novels.
i am in the camp Amanda speaks of - i thought so highly of Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow and didn't enjoy the others in the series so much. but i think that is because i liked the tight terse story - i'm not a big fan of the more 'epic' tales - especially in sci fi. but thanks Amanda for the heads up regarding Ender in Exile. i'll look for it.

Thx for the correction (I fixed it!) I didn't know it was gonna be a movie! All the more reasons to read it I guess :-)

Casey Affleck is booked as the lead, so you can imagine him when you're reading the book. LOL! In my mind that was perfect casting.

Lori,
I have not read the Dexter series but really want to. We watch the Showtime series and I LOVE it!!! I can't wait to pick those up.

I adore Odd Thomas. If you liked the first one, you will like the sequel. I've read the first two; three and four are on my bookshelf, but I haven't gotten to them yet. I adore Odd and Little Ozzie. Probably two of my favorite literary characters ever.
I'm still working on A Great and Terrible Beauty. Will probably have it finished this weekend.

How are you liking Under the Dome? Just purchased my copy today and with all the wonderful reviews and recommendations I am excited.

Yes, I'd like to know, too. I've added this one to my TBR list.
I've gotten Jonathan Strange in audio from the library. I started reading it but, although I'm enjoying the story, the book is so large and heavy. I carry it back & forth to work each day and it's quite a tome. I'm going to start from the beginning again and listen to it while I commute.

HMM my favorite Chris Bohj is The Double Bind, - but it is not for everyone. I ended up rereading the ending and then rereading the whole book- such a twist!! - a little harsh in places. I loved The Buffalo Soldier - Water Witches was cool too - but not thrilled with Before I Knew Kindness

Back to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

Ewww, sorry Dorie, but the only thing worse for me than Casey Affleck, is Ben Affleck! :p I think I'll skip the movie version of that one. The book sounds good though.

You're right! I kinda think he is perfect! I am about 120 pages in and I am loving it!

I'm not a big fan of eiter of them but I still think Casey would be perfect for it and the books are always better than the movies anyway!!! ;-)

Just started The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde and so far so good.

I didn't know he had a book out! I love his TV show and I'm putting the book on my TBR list. Let me know what you think about the book!

Ok, thanks, Marti - I'll have to check The Double Bind out and maybe add it to my TBR. Midwives almost reads like a non-fiction to me - it is really so good.

Thanks for the recommendation, JG - I'll look into that one as well.
