What are you reading?

Oryx and Crake
The Year of the Flood
And a really funny Mil Millington:
Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About A Novel
The general plot was a little thin but the scenes with his girlfriend were laugh out loud funny.
Mel

I really liked the first two - they were audio reads for me. It's been a while, but I remember that I really enjoyed them when I listened to them. I think it will be great for you to read them all three together. They're quick reads too, as Koontz usually is. For me though, nothing has topped Odd Thomas :)

Leah, I loved this book. Hope you enjoy it. Hey, I see you're from Colorado. Me too. We still have snow in the backyard but today was a shorts and t-shirt day. Love this state!!! Enjoy the book. It's a tickler.

Nickie, I thought that book was so beautiful. Even the hard parts about the foot-binding was in a different way beautiful.

I have a feeling that by the time I am getting this from my shelves the whole population will have read it!:-)

hehehe thats how I felt about the Twilight books! I figured everyone and their sister had read those books before I did! LOL

a cute read. Now, I don't know what.. there is too many to choose. I might send my 4 year old in and surprise me :)

I just finished High Fidelity by Nick Hornby this morning and jumped right into The Town That Forgot To Breathe.

I do the same thing with my girls...sometimes I just cant choose what to read next so I let them pick for me!

I love this series, a friend of mine picked it up and ended up buying the series and I borrowed them from her as she finished them. I absolutely love the characters and their relationships.

I finished The Hunger Games (****) and moved on to Madame Bovary.

The Original Laura was just Published. It was the last book he wrote. It has been in the news .

Go to Amazon and read review for The Original Laura, you will probably like it also. It sounds very good.

Recently read and found very entertaining.

Just started this guilty pleasure. Great fresh science fiction. Stayed up till wee hours of the night with this.

I have read that and loved it. At first I only read it because of my teacher but it's interesting and it kept my attention.

I was forced into reading Madame Bovary in college. That was agonizing, so be afeared.

Of course, when I told myself that I would stop reading all my YA books from the library and try and switch it up, I'm gravitated towards more vampire tales.
Now I'm onto Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. I've heard that the House of Night books are very addicting and I can see why! This is going to be good I can already sense it.
So much for not reading more YA....

But ever since I read Twilight...my perspection changed. I would not that I have been obsessed (well maybe just with those books...) with the whole vampire gaga.
This will be my first series outside of Twilight that has to deal with vampires. I have the Sookie Stackhouse series (still in mint condition with the plastic seal covering all 8 books in the series) TBR. I think I wanted to wait til after I saw New Moon in theaters before I continued with any vampire books.
Well whoops on my part for starting another addicting vampire series. I'm not more than 50 pages into House of Night #1 and I'm already hooked.

I don't care for vampire books or movies but I love everything zombie - go figure.

Michelle, The Outsiders is one of my all-time fave books. It's one of the first books I can remember that really affected me emotionally - bawled like a baby through about the last third. :-)

Carol - I've never been big on vampires, either (ignored the whole Buffy craze a few years back), but last summer I read a novella by MaryJanice Davidson and was instantly hooked on her "Queen Betsy" series (starts with Undead and Unwed), then this year got hooked on the Sookie Stackhouse series.
Which brings me to my current read. Finished I Scream, You Scream A Mystery À La Mode by Wendy Lyn Watson (loved it!) and am now starting A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris.

That is great maybe one of these days I will attempt one. Thanks for the suggestions.

Maureen,
I completely agree! I was crying too at the last third of it! I still can't get over my shell-shock of S.E. Hinton writing it at JUST 16 years old!

Started The Boy Next Door A Novel by Irene Sabatini. I haven't heard anything about this one. Picked it up at the library because, GASP, I liked the book jacket.

I've read the 1st and 2nd, and they were fantastic! Can't wait toget the 3rd!

Good to see a positive review for My Enemy's Cradle. I have that waiting for me in my latest library pile. :)

That's very good of you, as waiting until one calms down is the hardest part! I like to write my reviews right away, and when I go back to look at them later, I agree with myself (phew) but sometimes realize I left a few things out.

OMGosh! If you have NOT read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, you are missing out on the best YA novel! (It's a great book for adults too!)
I am so glad that I picked up this book! I was crying, guffawing, crying because I was laughing out loud, and I did not want it to end! Add it to your TBR piles and you will enjoy it as much as I did! GUARANTEED!

I loved this book Leah. Berendt is such a good writer. His details of Savannah made me want to visit one day.
