I totally agree with ya , Lori!
Sorry you didn't like it Michelle bus as Lori said, it is not for everyone!

This is my opinion I would like to add that I have listened to the audio of this today. I am so glad its over with. Sorry to say it wasn't my cup of tea. But as it was on my list to read, its over with. Hated the language that some of them used. I also felt sorry for the characters and their faiths, as I have a best friend who is a Jehovah Witness.
I have no idea whether I feel like readin anymore of hers after listening to this.
Melissa wrote: "I just started Bram Stoker's Dracula and will be reading The Historian for Book Club in October."The Historian is a must read! I hope you enjoy it, it is quite the epic journey.
Donna wrote: "Michelle♥ wrote: "I just finished Now I'm going to pick up either Blindness, Dexter, The Handmaid's Tale, or Th..."The handmaid tale if fabulous. Read it years ago. The kite runner is so beautifully written, I'm certain you'll enjoy them both.
Am reading two books right now - Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin at home and Away by Amy Bloom when I am out. I can't justify lugging ToR around in my purse everywhere - it's heavy enough as it is without adding another five pounds to it!

Oh I agree both The Historian & The Kite Runner were great reads!
Michael wrote: "Have you read Blink? It's also by Malcolm Gladwell. After I've fed my fiction fix a little more, I'll bhe reading another one of his books, The Tipping Point. Have you read this one?"I haven't read either of his other books yet, but I enjoyed Outliers so much that they're definitely on my to read now!
So instead of reading The Kite Runner or A Handmaid's Tale I picked up The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I just started reading it, not very far, but it's cool. I'm captivated enough to keep reading. I want to see where this road takes them and me! :)I have so many books to choose from I feel like I'm overwhelmed. I've had The Road on my shelf to read for awhile now and I feel like the ones I've had the longest I should start those first. I think they've been waiting patiently enough....
Melissa wrote: "I just started Bram Stoker's Dracula and will be reading The Historian for Book Club in October."Melissa, I thought about Dracula as my next read but couldn't decide. Let us know what you think of it. I needed something light and quick so I'm reading The Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber.
I finished Amanda Grange's Mr. Darcy's Diary yesterday and just now finished Mr. Darcy, Vampyre. I enjoyed both of them. I'm going to start the Gargoyle next.

Thanks Jennifer. Your reply made me for sure feel better about it. And after what you said about her oter book, I went to read again the summary and it might being in process of convincing me...:-)
I am nearly done The Woman in White, though finding the social manners of the period slow going, despite the wonderful story. One thing: I'd have hated the conformity and the straight laced helplessness of being a woman living in that era!
I'm reading a book that my daughter thought I'd like to read. It's called "The Good Time Girls" Laela Morgan. It's a NF about the good time girls in the Klondike Gold Rush Days in the 1900's. It's an ok read but it doesn't really give any depth to the people it talks about, they are just short little stories. I'll probably finish it, but it's a little dry.
I'm reading Olive Kitteridge for my book club, and I'm really liking it a lot. It's beautifully written, and easy to see why it's getting so much attention.
I just finished The Heretics Daughter and am half way finished with Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. I have read a few of his books, and this one is the best so far. I am really enjoying it and hope to finish today or tomorrow.
Yaaaay for Shutter Island!!! Woo-hoo! I LOVED that book! How was The Heretics Daughter? I have that on my TBR.
First Goodreads group post ever here. I just finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower and let me just say that while I need to think about my response a little more I am glad it was so short. Now I am onto Eminent Victorians by Lytton Strachey and King Dork by Frank Portman. Why not?
Hi Andy, Yeah for the first post!!!
I read that book ages ago, I went on an MTV Pocketbook kick and scoffed those suckers down. This was my first of that publishers stockpile. I thought it was very interesting. I think it was the first book I had read up to that point that was written in letter communication....

Well I finished The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop by Lewis Buzbee & Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. I have 120 pages to go in The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards and I have to continue reading The Name of the Rose Including Postscript by Umberto Eco in greek. To tell the truth I don't know what I will read next, but I will let you know when I' ll find out.Enjoy your reading

I'm reading a few books at the moment. I just finished re-reading First Rider's Call by Kristin Britain. I am a huge fantasy fan, and I forgot how much I loved that book! Now I'm reading 2 books, Apocalipstick, another re-read for me and Olive Kitteridge. I got it for Christmas last year and am just not getting around to it. It's good so far!
I am supposed to be reading Catching Fire, but my mom borrowed it before I could get to it, so I started a quick read.. Love the One Your With by Emily Griffin.
I just finished
that was so creepy I couldn't stop thinking about it, and now I am reading The Almond Picker
I've finished The Maltese Goddess which could have been much better and I'm starting on Alexandre Jardin "Le Zubial" for my AtoZ challenge. Still have 4 letters to go to complete it.
I'm still reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I was wanting to finish it over the weekend, but couldn't pull myself away from the Wii (Damn you, Beatles Rock Band!!!)I'm hoping to finish tonight, it really is fantastic. I'm enjoying it as much and maybe even a little more than Kafka on the Shore. We'll see how it ends though. Up next is On the Beach by Nevil Shute.
Re-read of Midsummer Night's Dream in progress, to be followed by Romeo and Juliet. (I'm taking a course on Shakespeare.)
Eden wrote: "I'm reading 20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill."Oooh lucky you!
I finished The Book Of Lost Things which was really good and kinda unexpected. Almost done now with Catching Fire which is a quick read and fun but i'm still not sure Suzanne Collins is the greatest writer ever. I can't decide if sometimes she's playing off the artificiality of the games or just quickly getting herself out of a corner with no where else to go.
I decided to start early on one of the October group reads: The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

OOoohhh On the Beach? Really? I would love to hear what you think when you start it! And what creepy timing, Jessica, what with those test/nuke missles being shot over to us and all......

I started The Mystic River by Dennis Lehane. Late last night. I'm definitely intrigued! I don't think it's going to be as great as Shutter Island but I can tell it's going to be good.
Michelle, I just got "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" Jeff Lindsay in the mail from book crossing. Is this the book you're thinking about or are you further along?
Noelle wrote: "I just finished

Official Announcement:
The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from a Maple Leaf to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed.
Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that!
Paula I am am on book crossing too well least I was. might still be

Jessica wrote: "I was wanting to finish it over the weekend, but couldn't pull myself away from the Wii (Damn you, Beatles Rock Band!!!)"Oooh, Rock Band! We have to content ourselves with Guitar Hero, but I would love to have Rock Band!

Not one of my favorites, but it was interesting.
Now I'm going to pick up either Blindness, Dexter, The Handmaid's Tale, or The Kite Runner.

Blindness deserved 5 stars from me!!!
