Oooh, I loved Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Katie! I still have yet to see Blade Runner, but the book was a great read! Would love to hear what you think about it once you're done!

Thank you for your inputs.

Hi Breezy, welcome to the group!
I felt the same way about Cash The Autobiography by Johnny Cash. His life also was very interesting so I wanted to keep reading, but he was also disjointed in his thoughts, but I just figured, "It's Johnny Cash! Who in their right mind would tell him he needs to tone it down?" :)
I've always liked Julie Andrews (in Sound of Music and Mary Poppins particularly), so I might check out her autobiography also. If you like this sort of thing you might also check out Carol Burnett's memoir, One More Time.

Are you kidding? I love that series. I am waiting till the hardcover of the newest one either ends up in the bargin bin or I get a great coupon from Borders to pick it up. I did just buy the HBO series on DVD today (coupon!!) and plan to watch it this week.

I have 8th Confession on hold at the library. I can't wait til when it comes in.

I LOVE the show. I think its alot better than the books. I like the character development in the show alot better. Good to know there are more fans out there.

I just finished it this afternoon, and it was excellent! :) I really enjoyed it the whole way through.

I'm done with The Glass Castle, Allison! What a great (true) story! Did you want to discuss it - I wonder if we should start a different thread so as not to create any spoilers? Let me know - and whoever else wants to join in is welcome.

Felina, I love the Sookie series by Charlaine Harris. I just finished her last one, Dead and Gone. I'm also a huge fan of the HBO series based on the books, True Blood. Season Two starts this coming Sunday, June 14th.

Felina, I agree that the show does seem to be fleshing out the characters more.

Yeah I'm excited about the TV show. I have a group of friends that always get together to watch it together. Eat your heart out Grey's Anatomy.

Yes you do. One of my best friends just started watching them today and is loving them. Guess who will probably want to come over to my house Sunday to see the new season?

I also read The Birds' Christmas Carol today. It was really short, about 90 pages.
I started The Girl with No Shadow A Novel by Joanne Harris. I was really excited to read it since it's the sequel to Chocolat. It's pretty good so far.

I just finished A Dirty Job and started Love Walked In today, so far i like it, im only on the first chapter though.

It was a great book.

I am now reading The Wednesday Sisters....sort of chic lit, but good....it is about the bonding between women and how we as women can work and have babies.

Now I am reading Loving Frank by Nancy Horan and I gotta say, this is on my top faves right now. I am only on page 120 but it is great thus far.
Has anyone else read it?

Oh no! I have AM in my TBR pile.

Maria - I read Never Let Me Go earlier this year, and while it wasn't a terribly compelling book I really did enjoy it. It wasn't one I couldn't put down, but I thought the concept was fantastic and I really like the way Ishiguro writes. The style of the book sort of reminded me of John Knowles' A Separate Peace.

hey is it any good, I read classics a lot, and I've heard about it and watched some parts of the movie, I mean is it worth reading?

Jody: There are so many reasons to love this book and I am glad to see another person feels that way. Our book club at B&N is discussing it next week and I can't wait to hear what people think. Zafon is a master. I can't wait to read his newest book.

I really liked A Thousand Splendid Suns, Yamin. I thought it was a good portrayal of the treatment of women in Afghganistan under the Taliban rule....parts were very hard and sorrowful to read though.....I hope you enjoy it.

Leila, I found that rathr weird at times as well.

i read Loving Frank in the fall for my library book club. it was a great story, and although a lot people felt that Mayma (did i spell that right?) was a trollop and a bad mother, i didn't feel that way about her. the ending is so sad, too. however, FLW was a self-centered man, who was so passionate about everything until it was surpassed by something else, that i had a hard time liking his character as he was portrayed in the book.

Yeah, I'd love to discuss it! That's a great idea about making a new thread. :) Then it's out of the way and we don't have to worry about spoilers, and who ever wants to join in can do so. :)

Anyone else who has read The Glass Castle and wants to join us is welcome to! :)
