I'm pushing myself to finish The Catcher in the Rye today (I set it aside to read and review a book I won on First Reads). It's not a difficult read at all, but I'm finding it (and Holden) pretty annoying so far.
The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
Currently on book four, The Tale of the Body Thief.
And some Robert Frost on the side.

Just started Sweetheart by Chelsea Cain. It's the sequel to Heartsick. I loved Heartsick so I have high hopes for this one!
I'm almost done with Between Here and April. It's a lot different than I thought it would be, but I'm enjoying it nevertheless
Bridgit wrote: "am halfway through The Poisonwood Bible and am having a tough go at it. I really like it, but it sure isnt a page turner. I've been reading it for nearly a week and am only on page 250...."I found it pretty heavy too. Completely different was A prodigal summer!!!
Still reading Will in the World. This is excellent - I'm debating between giving it four and five stars.

It's been years since I've read the Vampire Chronicles. I loved Tale of the Body Thief, although many details are fuzzy it's been so long! I think I read as far as The Vampire Armand.

It's my first time reading them-I actually just finished the first one. It's really cute and a really good break from reading for uni. I'll have to order the second one soon.
Susanna wrote: "Still reading Will in the World. This is excellent - I'm debating between giving it four and five stars."OOOh, Susanna - that is praise indeed and I will have to seek this out.
Bettie, what does it meanw hen it says that you are a Goodreads Reader? I meant to PM you but that didn't appear to be an option.
Finished Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason and am focusing on "They Have Killed Papa Dead!" The Road to Ford's Theater, Abraham Lincoln's Murder, and the Rage for Vengeance.
Liz wrote: "Bettie, what does it meanw hen it says that you are a Goodreads Reader? :O)
Deborah wrote: ""Deborah - thanks for the encouragement. i just finished it and it was definitely worth it. I have to let it sink in a bit first, but I think that this may end up being one of my favorites. It started off slow, but it was deep and beautifully written. I loved the different perspectives from each of the women in the Price family. Great read.
Now, I've started Shannon by Frank Delaney and am really looking forward to it. I loved his previous 2 books - Ireland and Tipperary.
I finished Between Here and April and Living Dead in Dallas today. Between Here and April was interesting. It was told from a different perspective and there was a different twist to the book than I had expected. I picked it up expecting it to read more like a mystery, so it was a bit of an adjustment when it wasn't, but I still enjoyed it.
Living Dead Until Dark was one of those books I just couldn't put down. I had finals today, so there were long breaks between tests, and I got a good chunk of this read. It's such a nice, fun and easy read.
I'm reading "No Time to Say Goodbye" Linwood Barclay. New author for me but I'll definitely look up his others.
Kathy wrote: "Tonight I plan to start The Language of Bees by Laurie R. King."
I want to read that too! Lemme know how it is!!
I finished One for the Money (what fun! now I want to read all the rest!) and will start
Buddha Da
EDIT: on page 20... gets off to a good start: written in Glaswegian (is that the right adj.?) dialect, told from the point of view of the various members of a family - Da (Dad/Daddy) decides to become a Buddhist.

I bought it because I'd heard it was a classic but I can't for the life of me think of why.
We had to read all of Salinger's books in high school, one right after the other... English teacher a Sadist ; ) I couldn't like any of them.
Lol, I just checked out that book that you're reading and it looks interesting. Just added it to my tbr list. I just received Snake Agent A Detective Inspector Chen Novel and Peony in Love but I'm going to be a good girl and finish Saving Fish from Drowning A Novel first. I've got so many books coming, I'm so excited! Not to mention I've been watching all of my movies based on books (Chocolat, P&P, Practical Magic, The Color Purple) and it's making me want to read them again.
I'm anxiously awaiting goodread member Rai Aren's Secret of the Sands. I've had my eye on it for awhile and finally made the plunge. Can't wait to read it.

JC,I, personally, don't mind much if authors simply have a one line, one link signature. This allows readers and authors to get to know one another.
But I feel that very large space self-promotion is spam.
There is a thread here in TNBBC somewhere. This topic was discussed at length; and the agreement was that a subtle one line, one link signature was acceptable as long as there were no more that one of these per thread page.
We appreciate authors here; but we do not want these threads to devolve into promotion sites.
Have finished with zombie mayhem (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies)...meh..not enough mayhem for the hype. Does make me want to go back and watch the BBC production though (Colin Firth). I'm also a glutton for punishment but am debating whether the new "War of the Worlds...and zombies" might be better? I'm going to think on it for a while. Now reading The Quincunx but just started. Have absolutely no idea what to expect, not even really sure what it is about but it is a leap of faith that I have a really good feeling about after the first 50 pages or so. Suspense is building and I'm already waiting for questions to be answered and things to happen.
Am reading Ahab's Wife. It's beautifully written, but I'm having a hard time getting into the story.

Well said Mosca, and this spam entry that you refer to is more repellent because it promotes two GR authors with one shot.

Wow, I didn't think my entry was spam at all...just participating in the discussion. I am not affiliated with Ms. Aren's work in any way.
Mosca, I've edited out my banner sig...sorry for the infringement - won't happen again.

Paula wrote: "I'm reading "No Time to Say Goodbye" Linwood Barclay. New author for me but I'll definitely look up his others."Paula, I recently read Linwood Barclay's Too Close to Home and enjoyed it. Good suspense, nice twists.
Fran wrote: "Am reading Ahab's Wife. It's beautifully written, but I'm having a hard time getting into the story."Fran, I loved Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund. I've also read Abundance A Novel of Marie Antoinette by Naslund and enjoyed it, too. I have her novel, Four Spirits A Novel on my short list to read this summer.
Ann from S.C. wrote: "I am reading CONFESSIONS OF AN UGLY STEPSISTER by Gregory Maguire."I'm interested to see what you think. I've had it sitting on my bookshelf for a while, just waiting to be read, but have never gotten around to it.
Hayes, I'll post how The Language of Bees is going here. I'm fitting in a short YA book, The Willoughbys by Lois Lowry first.
Ann from S.C. wrote: "I am reading CONFESSIONS OF AN UGLY STEPSISTER by Gregory Maguire."I read that a while back and really enjoyed it--one of my favorites from Maguire.
I'm currently reading The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman (the 3rd/last book of the dark materials series) and waiting to see what the book for June will be for SK fan club...
Grace wrote: "I'm glad to find someone who agrees with me! I bought it because I'd heard it was a classic but I can't for the life of me think of why."I honestly don't know either. I made myself finish yesterday and it was such an unpleasant reading experience.

You poor thing, lol. In all honesty, I really wasn't prepared to dislike it, especially as much as I did. Regardless, I will not be reading any of his other books.

Just finished with The Plato Papers and as much as I truly admire Peter Ackroyd, this was not really my cup of tea. A couple of GR pals and myself are to embark on a re-read of An Instance of the Fingerpost A Novel tonight, before Stone's Fall A Novel hits our post boxes within the next few days.

Still finishing up Will in the World, and considering starting a re-read of Hamlet for Constant Reader's group read of it.
Susanna wrote: "Still finishing up Will in the World, and considering starting a re-read of Hamlet for Constant Reader's group read of it. "Susanna - I will join you in a Hamlet re-run early tomorrow but it will be Branagh's unabridged film version whilst I score through the words with my forefinger ( and yeah! my tongue will probably loll out of the side of my mouth whilst I read and watch)
Ashley (angelashly) wrote: "I finished up Pretty in Plaid and I will be starting Outlander tonight."ooooo hope you love Outlander! Its amazing.
Fiona wrote: "Does your doggy nose draw you to every post about every book you happen to push?"lol! I just got lucky this time ;)
Today, I have been readin and listenin in bed. Here is what I have read The Cave - Kate Mosse & The Okinawa Dragon - Nicola Monaghan. I have listened to Falling Into The Limelight - Peter Sallis.
Ashley (angelashly) wrote: "I finished up Pretty in Plaid and I will be starting Outlander tonight."I agree with Allison, Ashley. Outlander is amazing, but be careful. I read Outlander, the first of the six in the series and got hooked. Then, I had to read the next five before I got back to reading anything else. The problem with that is each book is around 1,000 pages and it took me almost 2 months to finish them. Well, OK, I did have to slip in a couple of books for a book fest during the #6, but prepare to neglect your to-read shelf for this series. And, Tweety, you know you love Outlander, too.
